Chapter 138 Going to S City

The child she gave birth to would resemble the Song family to some extent, especially since Song Chunyu wasn't an infant back then, so she had some impression of her parents.

Upon seeing the elderly couple again, and realizing how different they had become, Fang Yun couldn't contain his excitement and burst into tears, throwing himself into Fang Yun's arms.

Fang Yun wasn't much better off than the children. Song Zhanguo was anxiously watching from the side, saying, "Eldest daughter, eldest daughter, don't cry, don't cry. Your parents are here. No one can bully you and your children. Old woman, let's go inside and talk. Don't stay outside. You're scaring the children."

Huang Ying still couldn't believe it. "You, you're really our maternal grandparents?"

Song Shutian patted her head. "Of course, I'm your uncle. Call me uncle and I'll give you candy."

Huang Ying was a little shy; this uncle was quite young. Nevertheless, she pulled her younger brother along and called him "Uncle" from the perspective of Shan Liu.

It wasn't that she didn't believe it, but she felt like she was dreaming. Just a few days ago, they were struggling to survive from hunger, and now they had food again, and her maternal grandparents had come to visit. She was worried that when she woke up from this dream, everything would go back to the way it was before.

Jiang Qiao didn't go in. She let the other family's parents, daughters, siblings, and nephews catch up first, while she strolled around outside for a while, inquiring about the Huang family and Song Chunyu's husband.

Unexpectedly, Song Shutian had the same idea as her, and the two eventually bumped into each other at the door.

"Brother Song, your in-laws are not easy to deal with. We'll figure something out later. Can you send me back to the city first and I'll come back later?"

Song Shutian readily agreed. He needed to go into town to buy some things. Apart from the few things Jiang Qiao had given him, there was nothing else at home. How was he going to eat lunch? He had to think of a way to get some food back.

"Little girl, what's wrong with you? Why did you come here? If my mom hadn't said you found my older sister, I wouldn't have believed it. Why haven't you gone back yet?"

Jiang Qiao sighed, "Don't mention it. My grandfather's old friend is sick, and we've been taking care of him here until he recovers. That's why we're staying here. But we're planning to leave in the next few days. I was worried you wouldn't be able to make it. How about it? If you don't have a place to stay tonight, you can come stay with us."

Song Shutian shook his head. "Forget it, I reckon my mom and the others can take my sister and the others with them. As for what happens next, we'll talk about it later. Oh, and I also want to thank you for the things you mailed to me. Wow, where did you get all of these? They're delicious. Thanks, please mail me some more in the future."

Jiang Qiao snorted, "Hurry up, if you have any tickets, give them to me. I have money but no tickets, but your army's tickets are more useful."

Song Shutian slapped the steering wheel. "You silly girl, thank goodness you reminded me! I had already prepared it for you. Seeing my sister and the others, I almost forgot about it. Here, here are your tickets. Thanks a lot for my sister's matter—"

Jiang Qiao accepted the ticket without hesitation. "You're welcome. It was just something I did on the side. We've fought side by side before, so I can't just stand by and do nothing about your business."

"I'll mail you some good food when I get back."

Jiang Qiao arrived at the destination quickly. Song Shutian went in, greeted Qiao Jie and the others, sat for a while, and then left.

Qiao Jie sighed, "It seems that Song Chunyu and her two children will have an easier time from now on. Her parents and younger brother have all come to acknowledge her. If her in-laws want to bully her again, I guess Song Chunyu won't agree to it."

Jiang Qiao sighed, "Those people from the Huang family are really scoundrels. When we went there, they even tried to steal the grain from that mother and her children, and Brother Song gave them a good beating."

Grandpa, when are we leaving? I want to set off as soon as possible. My next stop is Shanghai.

Ma Liu's eyes lit up immediately. "Girl, your friend hasn't already gone to Shanghai, has he?"

Jiang Qiao smiled and nodded, "You're right, we need to get going quickly."

"Okay, I've already rented the house to the neighbor. If we're leaving, let's set off tomorrow. Let's make some extra dry food today for the journey."

The next morning, the neighbors came to take over the house. As for the food, there was nothing left; Jiang Qiao and the others cooked it and took it with them.

Jiang Qiao mailed everything that could be sent from home yesterday afternoon, and took with them anything they might need for the journey. The three of them bought train tickets and headed straight to Shanghai.

Ma Liu went there for food and bargain hunting, but Qiao Jie didn't care. He had already been to his hometown, visited the graves, and settled his old desires. He felt relieved and didn't care where he went. He was in good health and could spend more time with his children, which was good enough.

Looking at the familiar-looking buildings, Jiang Qiao felt a little dazed, as if the events of her previous life had happened just yesterday. Some things had changed here, but many places still retained their original appearance. The three of them walked and looked around without any rush. If they wanted to stay at a hotel, they could just find one anywhere.

However, Jiang Qiao knew of a nice hotel that was reasonably priced and had friendly staff.

Moreover, this place is quite close to the house her father prepared for her.

Listening to the soft Wu dialect, Jiang Qiao felt a sense of nostalgia from her previous life. However, she wouldn't say this in front of the old man, but she could still understand it.

They quickly checked in, since they had a letter of introduction with them and weren't afraid to go anywhere.

After eating, the old man washed up and went to bed. He was getting old and couldn't take any more exertion.

Jiang Qiao had nothing to do, so she went out for a stroll. Walking on the familiar streets and hearing the familiar voices, her previous life seemed to be right before her eyes. Before she knew it, Jiang Qiao went to the house her father had bought for her. It was a very beautiful two-story villa. As far as she knew, this place was inhabited by high-ranking officials and nobles in her previous life. She just didn't know how her father had obtained this house.

Looking at the well-maintained garden in the yard, Jiang Qiao couldn't help but stop and admire it for a long time. It seemed that the people inside had taken good care of the house, at least the garden was in full bloom.

According to my father, an elderly couple lived there; they were the parents of one of his fallen comrades.

Just as Jiang Qiao was about to call for help, an elderly woman in her sixties walked in through the door, carrying a basket. She looked like she had gone out to buy groceries. She was dressed simply, and although her clothes were patched, she was clean and tidy.

Who are you looking for?

When Jiang Qiao turned around, the woman's mouth dropped open in surprise. "You, you're Zhengfeng's daughter?"

Jiang Qiao nodded, but she was also a little puzzled. How did this old woman know her identity? After all, she hadn't been reunited with her parents for very long.

Deng Mei explained with a smile, "Your name is Jiang Qiao, right? Your father wrote a letter and attached your photo. Of course I recognize you. Besides, he said you might come over. Girl, come on, let's go inside and talk."

"Grandma Deng, may I ask, isn't there a grandfather in the family?"
