Jiang Qiao was most worried about Wen Jingwan. Although she didn't know if the matter was true or not, in her mother's heart, it was true.
"If I had known this would happen, I shouldn't have told her. It would have been better to keep it a secret."
Gu Zhengfeng sighed, "That call was made directly to your mother. Do you think she wouldn't know? Your aunt is really something. Doesn't she know your mother is still breastfeeding? Doesn't she know she shouldn't get stressed at this time? She calls herself a cadre, but she's nothing but a piece of trash. She's always shouting about the Women's Federation, but she doesn't understand this simple principle."
Gu Zhengfeng has really angered his brother-in-law's wife. If his son doesn't get enough milk, he'll have to find a way to deal with her.
Speaking of her aunt Ouyang Mingzhu, Jiang Qiao couldn't quite describe her feelings. One reason was the lack of affection, and another was that she always felt that her aunt had a somewhat condescending attitude, and she didn't know where this sense of superiority came from.
Seeing his daughter pout, Gu Zhengfeng asked, "What, you don't like your aunt either?"
Jiang Qiao nodded. "That's right. Compared to my aunt, I prefer my aunt. My other aunt is too particular. I feel that my aunt is much more easygoing. It's a pity—"
Unfortunately, the father and daughter had different ideas.
When Gu Zhengfeng rushed over with his daughter, both of the family's elderly parents had fallen ill.
Wen Zhongxuan even developed blisters on his mouth. His elder brother's family was gone, and as his brother, he was heartbroken. On one hand, he had to handle the funeral arrangements and take care of two sick elderly people. On the other hand, the car was gone, and he was punished by the factory for this.
Although the car belongs to their family, the old man donated it back then. No matter what, it's been given away. He doesn't care about the punishment; what he's worried about is that the two elderly people won't be able to handle the blow and if they lose it too, then the family will really fall apart.
Now, Wen Zhongxuan finally understood why his father had always said there were too few children in the family. Indeed, if there were more brothers, he would at least have someone to discuss things with, and he wouldn't have to work so hard. He couldn't rely on anyone else for anything and had to do everything himself.
When Jiang Qiao arrived, her family was coming and going, all to pay their respects. She really hadn't realized before that her grandfather knew so many people.
The arrival of Gu Zhengfeng and his son was a great help to Wen Zhongxuan. Jiang Qiao took care of his parents, and Gu Zhengfeng and his nephew took care of all the social obligations at home, while he was only responsible for receiving them.
After Jiang Qiao finished giving the old lady acupuncture and medicine, she turned around to take care of the old man.
The elderly couple were staying in the same hospital room, probably because they had pulled some strings; it was just the two of them, with no outsiders around.
After Jiang Qiao finished taking the old man's pulse, she smiled and looked directly at him.
Wen Songtao gave his granddaughter a helpless nod, knowing he couldn't hide it from her.
He wrote a few words in Jiang Qiao's palm with his finger, and Jiang Qiao smiled and nodded to indicate that he understood.
"Come on, let me loosen up your muscles and bones, so you can get a good night's sleep. Life goes on as usual."
Seeing that the two elderly people had fallen asleep, Jiang Qiao finally had a chance to wash up properly.
As soon as I entered the room carrying the basin, I saw a nurse preparing to change the old lady's IV drip.
"Wait—"
Jiang Qiao shouted angrily, startling the nurse, who turned to look at Jiang Qiao and asked, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Qiao snorted and pointed to the IV drip. "This isn't finished yet. Why did you change it? Who told you to?"
The nurse was quite calm. "It's the medicine the doctor prescribed, and there's not much left. I just thought I'd change it as soon as possible since no one was around."
Jiang Qiao stared straight into the other woman's eyes, took the medicine the nurse was going to change, and smelled it. In that instant, the nurse blinked twice.
Jiang Qiao put down the bottle. "You can go now. I'll come back and change it later. We can't waste it. We paid for it after all. You can go out now."
The nurse didn't say anything, but as she turned around, Jiang Qiao slashed at her neck with his palm. The woman reacted quickly, probably feeling the force of the palm strike, and dodged to the side, managing to avoid Jiang Qiao's palm.
However, he couldn't dodge the leg, and the two started fighting back and forth inside the room.
Wen Songtao was sleeping soundly when he was woken up by the sound of two women fighting. After observing his granddaughter fighting with another woman, the old man decided not to come down to help, since Jiang Qiao was not at a disadvantage. He was worried that if he went up, he might just make things worse.
Just as the woman was about to pull out her weapon, Jiang Qiao had already plunged the needle into her hand.
The woman felt a sudden numbness in her body, and before she could react, she collapsed limply to the ground. Jiang Qiao wrapped the gun in the woman's hand with a handkerchief, then found something to tie her up.
"Grandpa, you get up and keep an eye on this person. Don't open the door for anyone. I'm going to make a phone call. I have something to do. We'll talk later."
The old man now understood that this woman was clearly after him and his wife. As for her purpose, he was still unclear. Fortunately, his granddaughter was here; otherwise, the two of them would have been kidnapped today.
Jiang Qiao went out to check, but didn't find the woman's accomplices. She just didn't know what was in the potion.
She tried to contact Song Shutian using the doctor's office phone, but was told that Song Shutian had arrived and that someone would be contacted to come over.
Since that's what they said, Jiang Qiao wasn't in a hurry anymore. She went back to her room and sat down to wait. The old lady was still fast asleep because of the acupuncture she had received earlier.
Taking this opportunity, Jiang Qiao talked to the old man about the car accident.
"I didn't arrange that witness. I originally planned to plunge straight down when the brakes failed. The backup was already arranged, but then this unexpected event happened. Fortunately, things didn't go too far."
Where is that person?
The old man shook his head. "There's still no news. We can only wait, which is why I'm getting so anxious."
Jiang Qiao stopped asking questions and instead lowered her head to think. Today's events, along with the truck driver her uncle had encountered before, all seemed like coincidences.
But what are these people trying to achieve? Is it simply revenge, or is there another purpose?
Wen Songtao was also worried about the safety of his son's family. The truck driver could prove that the accident happened on the way, but this was different from what he had expected. Why would a truck appear on that section of the road out of nowhere?
The grandfather and granddaughter were both lost in their own thoughts, and the room was quite quiet for a while until Song Shutian knocked on the door and came in, at which point Jiang Qiao looked up.
"Hey, you're here pretty fast. If I'd known you were coming, I would have kept you company and saved us the trouble of taking the train."
