Chapter 128 With Heart

Jiang Qiao went with the old man to his house to familiarize themselves with the place. Actually, it was quite easy to find. The old man lived in a nice courtyard, but there was no one else at home at the moment.

After Jiang Qiao left, the old neighbors had already come to wait for him. Jiang Qiao didn't keep them waiting for long before pushing a cart full of things over, and the old men and women all came to help.

"My goodness, so much! Now we'll have something to eat."

Jiang Qiao brought mostly fish. There were so many of these things in her space that she could collect them whenever she wanted to eat them. She didn't want to take up too much space.

The old man wasn't ambiguous either. After checking the quality, he only charged one cent more than the supply price, which everyone could accept, and they didn't even need coupons.

After weighing the item and receiving payment, Jiang Qiao turned and left without hesitation. The old man was immediately surrounded by neighbors. He wanted to call out to Jiang Qiao, wondering how he would contact her if he wanted something later.

But the little girl walked very fast, and in the blink of an eye she was gone.

He could only sigh and hope that they would have the chance to meet again in the future.

Jiang Qiao was in a hurry. She needed to go to another black market. She had already found out the location, but the journey was a bit far. However, she had a car, so she wasn't worried about that at all.

After finishing her transaction on the black market, she had to hurry back home; her elderly relatives were waiting for her to come back for dinner.

However, she didn't plan to appear in the black market here so frequently; doing so would attract attention.

Jiang Qiao, carrying a basket on her back, with things hanging on her body and things pushed in the cart, pushed open the door. The two old men inside were listening intently. Although they didn't ask about the child's whereabouts, they were still worried.

"Grandpa Qiao, I'm back—"

Upon hearing Jiang Qiao's shout, Qiao Jie jumped to his feet and quickly went out to see what was happening.

When the old man saw what his granddaughter brought back, he was astonished. "My God, where did you get all this?"

There was no other reason than that Jiang Qiao had brought back a wheelchair, which was exactly what Ma Liu needed right now, as he was confined to this small space every day. Considering the old man's feelings, Jiang Qiao simply took it out.

The old man didn't care about anything else; he quickly pushed the cart and its contents into the house.

"Liu Zi, Liu Zi, look! What did the girl bring back for you? With this, I can take you out for a walk."

When Ma Liu saw what Qiao Jie had pushed in, he even stood up, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"Where did you get this from?"

The old man waved his hand and said, "Why ask so many questions? If the girl could get it through legitimate channels, she must have gotten help from her father's comrade-in-arms. Hurry up, let's test how well the wheelchair works."

The old man has eyes; he can tell this wheelchair isn't new. It's most likely been smuggled in from somewhere. Jiang Qiao frequents the black market, and he knows that.

However, upon seeing the items on the wheelchair, the old man slapped his forehead, "How could I have forgotten those things? I was so excited! Liu Zi, I'll go out in a bit—"

Qiao Jie wanted to help Jiang Qiao carry her things, but Jiang Qiao had already put them in the kitchen. Seeing the things his granddaughter had taken out, Qiao Jie sighed repeatedly.

"How did you manage to prepare so much food all at once? You must be tired. Let's eat quickly, and then we'll help your sixth grandpa into his wheelchair later."

To be honest, Jiang Qiao was quite tired. The whole day's back and forth was exhausting. Luckily, she had a car, otherwise, she really wouldn't have had the strength. However, today's harvest was even more pleasing. She had heard that Jiangnan was wealthy before, and now she could truly appreciate it. Those people who went to the black market were really generous. She bought a lot of jewelry, but she didn't lose much grain.

The old saying is so true: "Gold, silver, pearls, and jade cannot be used to clothe one in the cold, nor can they be used to eat one when hungry." In this day and age, food is the most important thing.

The old man quickly helped Jiang Qiao bring the food into the house. The three of them ate and chatted. Jiang Qiao was really out of energy at this point, and she even dozed off while eating.

"No, Grandpa Qiao, you can give Grandpa Liu acupuncture later. I need to sleep; it's too early. I'll help tomorrow, okay?"

Qiao Jie felt sorry for the child when she saw her like that, so she couldn't let her continue to help.

"Go wash up and go to bed, I'm here for you."

After Jiang Qiao left, Qiao Jie gave Ma Liu acupuncture while telling him about the children's New Year's shopping trip.

“We don’t have to worry this time. It’s a pity that the child is exhausted. We can’t let her go out for the next couple of days. If she’s this little one tired, she might not grow tall. We still need to rely on her in the future.”

Ma Liu was so moved that he didn't know what to say. He had given everything to Jiang Qiao before, which was a gamble, and now it seemed that he had won. This child was a thoughtful one.

"Brother Qiao, we're really lucky now. These wheelchairs are usually impossible to buy; this girl actually managed to get them. I'm truly impressed!"

He was truly impressed. Since the child arrived, she had been busy taking care of everything, from buying food for them to settling things off with his son. She was indispensable in all of these tasks. Despite her young age, she was incredibly capable and efficient.

The next day, Jiang Qiao got up early again. She had no choice; she was used to it. She quickly got up to cook for the old men, while Qiao Jie was in charge of Ma Liu's personal hygiene.

Then Ma Liu pushed the wheelchair while he supported it from the side, and the two of them practiced walking.

To be honest, after walking this far, Ma Liu didn't feel particularly tired.

Jiang Qiao nodded as she looked at the document. "Grandpa Liu, if things continue like this, you should recover soon."

Qiao Jie was also puzzled. He felt that his medical skills were not that great. He knew his own level. Treating a serious injury was no problem, after all, he had a family secret recipe. But a stroke was no ordinary disease. Could it be that his skills had improved?

He then denied it, and continued to give acupuncture as before. The prescription was still modified by Jiang Qiao. Could it be that the medicine was working?

Thinking about the precious Chinese medicinal herbs in the prescription, the old man suddenly realized that the girl was truly amazing; the prescription worked. However, he also felt sorry for Jiang Qiao, wondering how much money it would cost.

"Girl, do you have enough money? Grandpa has some here—"

Jiang Qiao smiled and said, "I have some. I went hunting before and made some money. Don't worry, if I don't have any money, I will definitely ask you for it."

Ma Liu felt bad. "Girl, we don't have enough money. How about we sell the house and rent a place to live?"

Jiang Qiao shook her head. "It's alright, I have plenty. If all else fails, I can sell a few of your precious treasures."

Ma Liu gave a wry smile. "What treasure? It used to be a treasure, but it's worthless now. You think I don't know that, girl? I'm a burden to you."

Jiang Qiao rolled her eyes at him and said, "What are you talking about? Since I've started calling you Grandpa Liu, you're my grandpa too. As your granddaughter, it's my duty to be filial. You should just focus on getting better. I'll take care of everything."
