Chapter 37 Then Wait for Death in Peace

Chapter 37 Then Wait for Death in Peace

Su Nuan hurried out of the cave and asked, "What happened?"

Li Shitou said anxiously, "Sister Su, hurry up and leave."

Su Nuan was not in a hurry to ask. She went to check on Cheng Feng's condition first. He couldn't be in any trouble. They still relied on him for protection on the road ahead.

The two hurried to the cave where Cheng Feng lived, and as soon as they entered, they smelled blood.

Su Nuan frowned, and a serious look appeared on her face.

The cave was covered with hay, and on top of the hay was bedding. Cheng Feng was lying on it. His stomach was scratched by something, and a part of his intestines was exposed.

Cheng Feng was actually awake. He smiled bitterly when he saw Su Nuan. "I didn't expect that black bear to be so powerful. It swatted me away with just one claw."

Su Nuan didn't say anything, but walked over quickly and pulled Cheng Feng's clothes off.

Cheng Feng, a man, actually blushed, "How can you be so shameless, my young wife?"

Su Nuan shouted, "Shut up."

Cheng Feng shut up obediently, but he was thinking that this young wife was even more fierce than his own wife.

Su Nuan quickly checked Cheng Feng's wound. Although the bear's claws were sharp, the wound was torn apart violently, so it would definitely not heal without stitches.

She said, "I'll go back and get some things. You guys go boil some water and light a charcoal stove in the house. We also need some strong liquor."

Li Shitou was so anxious that sweat broke out on his forehead, but he listened to Su Nuan very carefully and kept her words in mind.

Su Nuan said she went back to get something just to provide cover, so she found an empty corner and entered the space.

I didn't see the rabbit anywhere, I only saw Xiaobai lying by the river and sleeping, with half a fish in his arms.

She chuckled and went into the basement.

There are some medicinal herbs collected by the Su family here, but she can't use them outside. The expensive ones are hard to tell where they came from, so she can only take some common ones.

She thought for a moment, pulled over a piece of oilcloth, and used needle and thread to sew a shoulder bag. This kind of bag was introduced from other countries and was not a rare item.

The bag contained clean cotton cloth, silk thread, a small knife the size of a finger, a porcelain bottle of river water and some medicinal herbs.

She thought about it and took out a blood-replenishing pill collected from the palace. This kind of pill was used to replenish the bodies of concubines in the palace. It was very precious and effective.

After preparing everything, Su Nuan found a few more silver needles. She didn't bring a complete set, in case they were confiscated.

Su Nuan left the space and returned to Cheng Feng's cave. Cheng Feng was already in a semi-comatose state.

Su Nuan sat beside him and said, "Your life is in my hands now. If you are relieved, then you can sleep peacefully. If you are not relieved, then you can wait for death peacefully."

Cheng Feng was amused by Su Nuan's words, "Why are you not likable at all?"

Su Nuan glanced sideways, "Why is it not pleasing? I told you to trust me and sleep peacefully. A good sleep will make you feel half better."

"If you don't believe me, and I don't heal you, then you're just waiting to die."

Cheng Feng was speechless and could only force a smile. "Okay, I believe you, don't I? Go ahead."

After saying that, he closed his eyes tightly and prepared to be knocked unconscious.

Su Nuan took out a silver needle, roasted it over the charcoal fire, and then quickly inserted the needle.

Cheng Feng fell asleep without any consciousness.

Little Stone asked anxiously, "Is he okay?"

Su Nuan nodded, "Now hold up the torch to illuminate the cave. There's not enough light in the cave."

"Okay." Little Stone was very obedient and did what he was told. The others didn't dare to say anything and stood in the cave as pegs.

Su Nuan washed her hands and dried them over the charcoal fire, then used river water to clean the dirt from Cheng Feng's wound. The river water had miraculous effects, so the wound had to be sutured as soon as possible after cleaning.

Su Nuan carefully stuffed Cheng Feng's intestines back in, then sewed them up quickly. The silk thread had been soaked in liquor and washed in river water, so there shouldn't be any problem.

After treating the wound, Cheng Feng's face was as pale as paper, which was a sign of excessive bleeding.

Su Nuan dissolved the blood-replenishing pill in water and fed it to Cheng Feng, then heaved a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat off his face.

Unexpectedly, Li Shitou was very knowledgeable. He asked in surprise, "Is that the blood-replenishing pill from the palace?"

Su Nuan didn't deny it. "Well, it was a reward I received. I thought it would be useful for my exile, so I took it. Unfortunately, there's only one."

Li Shitou moved his lips and his eyes were red. In the end, he didn't say a word and just knelt on the ground with a thud.

Su Nuan was startled, "What are you doing?"

Li Shitou kowtowed deeply, stood up and said, "You are my great benefactor, Li Shitou. My life is yours."

Su Nuan stood up and stretched her muscles. She had been kneeling to sew and her legs were numb. She had just felt a little better.

She said with disdain: "What do I want your life for? I don't ask for anything else, I just want a smooth journey."

Li Shitou scratched his head, feeling embarrassed.

Seeing that he couldn't get up, Su Nuan reached out and lifted him up, "Alright, stop being so hypocritical. Brother Cheng is good to me. I can't just stand by and watch him die."

"Luckily, the wound looks scary, but it's not fatal. Once he wakes up, help him walk around on the ground."

"Oh, right, if you don't have a bowel movement, you can't eat. After you have a bowel movement, you can only eat liquid food first..."

She sighed, "Never mind. I still have some corn. Come with me and get some."

Li Shitou's eyes lit up. Now a handful of corn was far more practical than meat.

Su Nuan took out a clean cotton cloth and said, "When he wakes up and wants to walk, wrap the wound with this cotton cloth. It's not needed now."

Li Shitou nodded obediently, "Okay, I will do as you say."

Su Nuan packed up her things and took out a bag of willow bark and handed it to the soldier next to her. "Divide this into three portions. Use three bowls to boil one portion into one bowl. Repeat three times. Mix the three bowls together and give it to him to drink once every two hours."

The soldier scratched his head, as if he didn't remember what Su Nuan said.

Li Shitou said, "I'll remember that. I'll come back with the corn and boil the medicine myself."

Su Nuan nodded, "Okay."

She glanced at Cheng Feng and said, "He can't ride a horse for ten days, so prepare a carriage."

Li Shitou was not worried about these things. "We don't know when we can continue our journey, so let's just take care of it for now."

Su Nuan asked in confusion: "Don't we all have raincoats? As long as the rain isn't too heavy, we can go on."

Li Shitou sighed, "The bridge ahead is broken. The people over there are repairing it. They say it will take five days to be repaired."

Su Nuan was speechless. This was really a situation where she couldn't move forward or backward. Fortunately, the cave here could shelter her from the rain, so it didn't matter if she stayed there for a few more days.

She came out of the cave. It was already dark outside and it was raining heavily. She couldn't see the stars or the moon, so she couldn't guess the time.

After returning to the cave, Su Nuan gave Li Shitou some corn and gave him a few more instructions before letting him go back.

Xue asked worriedly, "What happened?"

Su Nuan sat by the fire and warmed her hands. "Cheng Feng was caught by a bear, but it's not a big deal. He won't die."

Xue frowned and sat down beside her, "I hope that bear doesn't come here."

As he was speaking, a roar was heard outside.

Xue hugged Su Nuan and asked, "Is it a bear?"
