Chapter 8 What Answer Do You Want to Hear?

Ji Chengzhou carefully carried the girl out of the car and walked quickly upstairs. He pushed open the door, held the girl in his arms and sat her on the sofa in the room. He took off her coat and shoes, then gently placed her on the big bed and covered her with a quilt.

He sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to brush the girl's hair from her forehead. Her eyes were quietly closed, her long, narrow eyelashes like a small fan. She was fast asleep, her breathing even and steady, her red lips slightly parted, revealing the soft, red tip of her tongue with every breath.

Ji Chengzhou looked at her like this for more than ten minutes. After tucking the corner of the quilt for her, he stood up and walked towards the bathroom.

The moment he turned around, the girl who was originally sleeping soundly on the bed opened her eyes slightly, her eyes were clear, and she didn't look like she had just woken up at all.

She had indeed fallen asleep in the car just now. She was already awake when Ji Chengzhou carried her upstairs and helped her take off her coat. She just didn't know what to say to him, so she could only close her eyes and pretend to be asleep. She never expected that he would sit by the bed for so long. She was about to give up pretending, but luckily he left. Thinking of this, Lu Nanying breathed a sigh of relief and glanced sideways at the huge room. It was decorated with cool and luxurious colors, a two-meter-long bed, haze blue bedding, and the air was filled with a faint cedar scent.

Lying on her side, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes gazed at the figure reflected in the bathroom. Listening to the sound of running water, her thoughts drifted back to the moment Ji Chengzhou had committed suicide for love. He had gone to his death without hesitation, his eyes filled with love as he gazed at her, who lay lifeless on the bed. He had been so good, why had she only discovered it after he died? Thinking of the fields of gentian flowers Ji Chengzhou had planted for her, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, her eyes reddened, tears welling up in her eyes.

The bathroom door opened, and a tall figure emerged. He was steaming, a towel tied around his waist, his chest, abs, and even his mermaid line all on display. His short, wet black hair stuck to his temples, with water droplets running down his neck, onto his collarbone, and onto his pectoral muscles.

Ji Chengzhou looked at the girl lying on the bed, her eyes wide open and tears welling up in his eyes. A pang welled up in his heart. He stopped in front of the bathroom, not daring to move closer. Lu Nanying was startled by his sudden appearance. She stared at the man's exceptionally attractive figure, unable to react for a moment. After a short moment, she came to her senses and realized she had been staring at the naked Ji Chengzhou. Her face flushed from cheek to ear, and she had to admit that this man was not only handsome and well-born, but also had an impeccable figure.

She couldn't help but stretch out her white and tender little hand to the man and waved gently. Ji Chengzhou seemed to have lost his soul and walked towards the bed in small steps.

The man approached her with a moist air, with bronze skin, a high chest, a thin waist, and every muscle was very strong and powerful. He exuded a strong masculine aura.

Lu Nanying blushed and buried her face slightly in the pillow. A soft voice came out: "You haven't answered the question I asked you at the bar."

Ji Chengzhou was stunned for a moment, looking down at himself, then turned and walked towards the cloakroom. A few minutes later, he changed into a set of black silk pajamas and sat down by the bed. After a moment of silence, he smiled lazily, "What kind of answer do you want to hear?"

She looked up at him, pouted, her face full of grievance. Seeing his teasing, she said sullenly, "That Miss Li said she was your fiancée and you were getting married. Since you were getting married, why did you bring me home?"

Ji Chengzhou was practically amused by the seemingly aggrieved girl in front of him. She had always rejected him and resisted his approach. He had confessed his love for her several times, but she had always rejected him harshly. He had never wronged her for hurting him, but based on a few unverified words from outsiders, she felt aggrieved.

He sighed softly and said helplessly: "You are so sad when you know that I am getting married. It's not that you don't like me and want me to stay away from your life. If that's the case, isn't it a good thing for you that I am getting married?"

Lu Nanying, who was lying on the bed, heard this and got up anxiously. She grabbed the corner of the man's clothes and cried, "It's not like that. I..."

She hesitated to speak, her heart gripped by an invisible claw, unable to calm down. A light sweat formed on her forehead in her anxiety. Ji Chengzhou remained silent. He looked at her, his eyes filled with unwavering emotion.

Her slightly red eyes, coupled with the teardrop mole at the corner of her eyes, made her look even more pitiful. Ji Chengzhou looked at her with heartache.

Lu Nanying looked him straight in the eye, her voice soft, "I know I was willful before, listening to others' advice and saying a lot of unpleasant things to you. We grew up together, and you've always been like a brother to me. I never thought you'd like me. And in the past few years, since you took over the Ji Corporation, you've become increasingly busy, and we've seen each other less and less. Others say you're ruthless and cruel, and many companies have been forced to withdraw from the capital after offending you."

She looked up at him, and seeing that he didn't react at all, she continued, "Later, because of Cheng Suyu, I met Yang Yunze. He was very caring and often accompanied me, and I gradually developed a good impression of him. They often whispered bad things about you in my ear, and Cheng Suyu said she liked you and hoped that I would give her a chance to confess to you. Over time, I felt that you were the one she liked, so I rejected you."

Ji Chengzhou was so angry at this smart little girl that he almost exploded with anger. He stood up and walked out of the room.

Lu Nanying watched him walk out, and the tears in her eyes could no longer be held back and dripped onto the quilt.

Ji Chengzhou walked in with milk. Seeing the girl on the bed with her head down sobbing softly, he felt distressed. He clenched the cup in his hand, walked to the bed and handed it to her.

Lu Nanying raised her head, her nose red as she looked at the man with a twitching look. Ji Chengzhou placed the milk in her hand, reached out to pull out a tissue from the bedside table, and carefully wiped her tears. "You've been talking for so long, you must be thirsty. Have a glass of milk first."

She was stunned for a moment, then quickly calmed down. She took a sip of the milk and placed it on the bedside table. She bit her lower lip, her voice choking with sobs: "The last time I went out to sea, I saw them..." She paused, took a deep breath, and continued.

"I know now. They've been using me the whole time. I was disobedient. You told me many times, but I just wouldn't listen. They pushed me into the sea. I was so scared. If you hadn't sent someone to protect me, I might have died in the sea."

Ji Chengzhou listened to her silently, a flash of hostility in his eyes, and his fists clenched.
