Chapter 32 Chocolate
Thursday.
When Jiang Wan walked to the classroom door, she ran into Sun Qianyu.
"Come here." She beckoned to Sun Qianyu, took off her schoolbag, and pulled out a shopping bag with a cute teddy bear design. "Here you go, Merry Christmas!"
"Oh, I thought you'd forgotten about me since you were so busy picking out a gift for someone the other day," Sun Qianyu said, but her hands were already busy opening the shopping bag.
Inside was a pair of plush gloves, with a red suede exterior and a soft, fine cashmere lining. There was a brown fur collar around the wrist, making them both warm and playful.
Jiang Wan asked her mother to buy this for her at the department store yesterday after she got home the night before last. She brought it to school today to give to Sun Qianyu.
"How could that be?" Jiang Wan winked at her. "I'm not the kind of person who values romance over friendship, unlike you."
"Tch, don't speak too soon."
Sun Qianyu glanced at her with a smile, removed one of the backpack straps, and took out a shopping bag with a cute bear design from her backpack.
"Is this your Christmas present to me?" Jiang Wan looked over curiously.
“Yes.” Sun Qianyu opened the bag and handed it to Jiang Wan. “I can only say that we are on the same wavelength.”
Jiang Wan took the bag and looked down. Inside was another pair of plush gloves, the same style as the ones she had bought for Sun Qianyu. The material and design were exactly the same, only the color was different.
The gloves Sun Qianyu gave her were made of light apricot suede, with a creamy white rabbit fur trim around the wrists, giving them a gentle and cute look.
"Although they're the same style, the color you chose suits me better." Jiang Wan smiled slightly and put the shopping bag into her backpack.
Sun Qianyu smiled and nodded, "Yes, the color you picked suits me very well too, it's a matching set with my sister's."
The two put away their gloves and turned to walk into the classroom.
Jiang Wan was still some distance from Sun Qianyu's seat when she saw Jiang Shengming already seated. She suddenly tugged at Sun Qianyu's sleeve and asked softly, "Hey, where's the gift you gave Jiang Shengming?"
Sun Qianyu patted her backpack behind her. "I brought it with me. I'll deliver it tonight. It's too conspicuous to do it in broad daylight."
Showy?
Jiang Wan looked at Sun Qianyu's bulging backpack with suspicion.
What kind of gift must it be that it's so big that it's easy to show off when you take it out, yet it can still fit into a schoolbag?
"Never mind me." Sun Qianyu nudged Jiang Wan's arm. "What about you? Have you figured out how to send it out yet?"
Jiang Wan pouted, "...Not yet."
After two nights and a day of leisure time spent thinking, she still hadn't figured out how to solve those two great century-old problems.
How can we get Zhou Chong to switch to those cute couple phone charms?
I really can't think of any good solutions.
As she spoke, she walked over to Sun Qianyu's seat, patted Jiang Wan on the shoulder, and gave her an encouraging look, "Keep it up."
Jiang Wan shrugged and continued walking towards her seat.
She pulled out a chair, sat down, took out her textbooks and homework from her schoolbag, and stuffed them into the desk drawer, but encountered an obstacle.
Then, a bunch of chocolate boxes tumbled out with a clatter.
Jiang Wan was dumbfounded.
Where did all this chocolate come from?
The commotion was so loud that many classmates around turned to look. Jiang Wan quickly stuffed the book into the desk, squatted down, and hurriedly picked up the pile of chocolates on the ground.
There are Dove, Ferrero Rocher, Hershey's, Lindt...
Different brands and flavors were piled up together.
Jiang Wan was at her wit's end; she couldn't fit everything back into the drawer, so she had to put it all on the table.
She randomly picked up two boxes of chocolates, neither of which had a name on the packaging.
Having no other choice, she could only bite the bullet and poke Zhou Chong's arm, "Do you know where these chocolates came from?"
Zhou Chong glanced at it indifferently, his voice flat, "I don't know."
"Oh, okay." Jiang Wan slumped her head, leaned forward again, and called out in a low voice, "Zhang Chi."
Zhang Chi turned around. "What?"
"Um, do you know..." Jiang Wan lowered her eyes, pouted, and pointed to the pile of chocolates on the table, "Where did all this come from?"
Zhang Chi immediately gave a winking expression, "Miss, of course it was given to you by your admirers."
Jiang Wan was taken aback and subconsciously glanced at Zhou Chong beside her.
He pursed his lips, looked down at the exercise book in front of him, and his face was expressionless.
Jiang Wan thought for a moment, then looked up at Zhang Chi and asked, "Did you see who sent it? I'll return it to them."
Zhang Chi shrugged and picked up a box of Dove milk chocolate. "I only know that this was given to me by Ma Haoyu from Class 3. I happened to run into him when he came this morning. That's all I know."
"Do you know him?" Jiang Wan had never heard of the name before, so she could only ask Zhang Chi for help, "Could you return it to him for me?"
"Alright then." Zhang Chi pointed at the box of Dove chocolates, clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Sigh, Brother Ma, isn't this a waste of money?"
Jiang Wan wasn't in the mood for jokes and looked at the remaining chocolates with a troubled expression.
Zhang Chi turned back to her and kindly reminded her, "Why don't you check if there are any greeting cards or anything in the drawer? Maybe they'll be signed."
"Yes, let me look for it."
Jiang Wan bent down and searched through the entire table, finding several greeting cards and matching them to certain boxes of chocolates. There were still a few boxes left unassigned.
Unfortunately, she didn't recognize any of those who left their names.
She thought for a moment, then called Zhang Chi, who was in the front seat, over.
"Zhang Chi, Zhang Chi!"
Zhang Chi turned around lazily. "Young Miss, what are your orders now?"
Jiang Wan smiled apologetically at him and pushed the pile of chocolates sorted by greeting cards to him on her left. "Do you know all these people? Could you help me return them to them?"
Zhang Chi glanced at it briefly and said, "So many."
Jiang Wan, with a fawning smile, pushed over the pile of unsigned chocolates on her right, saying, "I don't know whose these are, but consider them payment for your services."
Zhang Chi's eyes lit up, and he quickly patted Li Yang on the shoulder, "Brother, come on, let's see who you know."
Zhang Chi and Li Yang went through the process and found that they could basically find people they knew or contact through friends of friends, so they helped Jiang Wan take on the job.
"Thank you. You can take the rest of the chocolates and share them."
"Sure thing, sure thing. Remember to call us again if there's anything like this in the future." Zhang Chi grinned as he tore open a Ferrero Rocher box, popped it into his mouth, and chewed it.
After Jiang Wan handed the chocolates to the two of them, she hesitated for a moment and turned to look at Zhou Chong beside her.
"Zhou Chong, do you want some chocolate?"
Zhou Chong frowned and said without turning his head, "I won't eat."
"Oh well."
Jiang Wan turned around dejectedly.
He won't even take chocolate, let alone a couple's phone charm. This man is completely impervious to reason.
