Chapter 36 Let's Go to the Same University

Chapter 36 Let's Go to the Same University

After dinner, Jiang Wan said goodbye to Luo Xuan at the cafeteria entrance, and then went back to the classroom with the others.

There were many people and distractions in the cafeteria earlier, and since Zhou Chong hadn't explicitly stated which university he wanted to apply to, she didn't press him for details.

She wanted to ask him properly when they were alone in private.

She had made up her mind: in this life, she would attend the same university as Zhou Chong.

Sun Qianyu's words had awakened her; there was very little time left in her senior year of high school, and she had to prepare for the college entrance examination and pursue someone at the same time, which made it really difficult for her to be in two places at once.

Besides, pursuing someone can't be rushed, and rushing won't help. But the college entrance exam has a clear deadline, so academics should naturally take precedence.

Besides, in her previous life, she and Zhou Chong were married for three years, but Zhou Chong hadn't developed much affection for her. She didn't expect to make any significant progress in their relationship in the remaining months of her senior year of high school.

Therefore, she plans to prolong the pursuit of Zhou Chong, as there is still plenty of time in the future.

But the condition is that she cannot be separated from Zhou Chong during her university years.

In her past life, she was at Peking University, and Zhou Chong was at Tsinghua University. Even though the two schools were only separated by a road, she and Zhou Chong never met even once.

If she could do it all over again, she couldn't let it happen like this. She wanted to be in a relationship with him on the same university campus!

Finally, evening self-study ended. Today was their group's turn to clean, and Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong had to stay behind to clean.

Senior year of high school is busy with studies, and evening self-study ends late, so the workload for daily cleaning duties is not heavy. Just wipe the blackboard and sweep up any conspicuous trash on the ground, and then you can go home.

But Jiang Wan was particularly slow sweeping today. Zhou Chong had already changed the number of days left until the college entrance examination countdown at the top of the blackboard, but she was still dragging her feet while sweeping.

Zhou Chong turned around and walked down from the podium. As he passed Jiang Wan, he took the broom from her hand and quickly swept the rest of the floor for her.

Jiang Wan leaned back against the desk, watching Zhou Chong sweep the floor for her. She rested her hands on the desk behind her, her shoes wobbling as she kicked the chair legs.

"Zhou Chong," she called out to him.

"Hmm?" Zhou Chong didn't look up and continued sweeping the trash at his feet.

Jiang Wan swallowed hard and finally asked the question she had been thinking about all night, "Do you want to apply to Tsinghua University?"

Zhou Chong paused, swept the last empty coffee can into the dustpan, and then slowly raised his head.

He opened his mouth, but before he could make a sound, Jiang Wan stopped him with her hand, saying, "You're not allowed to say it, that's for outsiders to hear."

"I want to know your true thoughts, whether you want to go to Tsinghua University." Jiang Wan slowly lowered her hand. "In return, I will tell you my true thoughts."

Zhou Chong looked at her silently for a long while before nodding. "Well, what about you?"

“Me too.” Jiang Wan’s eyes crinkled with laughter. “Zhou Chong, I also want to get into Tsinghua University. I want to go to the same university as you.”

Zhou Chong was stunned.

I accidentally dropped the broom, and the coffee can that I had just swept into the dustpan rolled out along the slope.

It rolled from his feet to Jiang Wan's feet.

Jiang Wan squatted down, picked up the empty coffee can, and threw it away in the trash can.

When she turned around, she saw Zhou Chong still in the same position, holding a winnowing basket in one hand and a broom in the other, staring at her without moving.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Wan walked over and took the broom from his hand. "You've finished sweeping the floor, aren't you going to take out the trash?"

As if just coming to his senses, Zhou Chong picked up the dustpan, walked to the large trash can and emptied it, then took the broom from Jiang Wan and stacked them together in the corner.

After packing their things, the two washed their hands, returned to the classroom, picked up their bags, and prepared to go downstairs.

Zhou Chong walked behind Jiang Wan, turned off the classroom lights, leaving darkness behind him and Jiang Wan standing in front of him under the corridor lights.

The overhead lights in the corridor were dim and not bright, but Jiang Wan was dazzling.

Standing at the boundary between darkness and light, Zhou Chong called out to the person in front of him, "Jiang Wan."

"Hmm?" Jiang Wan turned around and waved to him. "Come out quickly."

Like a goddess guiding him, he took a step forward. "You really... want to go to Tsinghua University with me?"

“Yes.” Jiang Wan nodded very firmly.

Zhou Chong parted his thin lips slightly, "...Why?"

His tone suggested he was somewhat unsure.

“Because…” Jiang Wan rolled her eyes, grabbed her backpack strap, and walked towards the stairs, “Tsinghua University has very strong science and engineering programs as well as economics and management programs. I like math, I like economics, and I also like…”

Zhou Chong walked beside her and turned to look at her.

"...I like going to university with you."

Jiang Wan's eyelashes trembled, but when she met Zhou Chong's gaze, she chose to tell the truth.

This is no shameful secret.

Moreover, what she wanted was not just Zhou Chong's desire to take the Tsinghua University entrance exam, but a promise that she would go to Tsinghua University with him.

“So,” Jiang Wan stopped, standing at the bottom of the last step on the first floor, turned around, looked up at Zhou Chong, her expression extremely serious.

"Zhou Chong, let's apply to the same university."

Zhou Chong stood before her, head bowed, eyes downcast, gazing into her clear yet resolute eyes in the moonlight streaming through the teaching building.

"good."

He only said one word, but it made the little magpie in Jiang Wan's heart flutter on the branch.

"Then it's a date." Jiang Wan smiled, her eyes crinkling, then suddenly remembered something. She quickly unzipped her backpack, took out a pair of phone charms, and stuffed one into Zhou Chong's hand.

"We need some kind of proof to commemorate our agreement, and here it is, our token."

Jiang Wan held her white rabbit phone charm, twirling it around her index finger. "When you get back, remember to hang it on your phone. Don't forget your promise to me."

Zhou Chong looked at the gray rabbit in his hand and smiled with a mixture of helplessness and sincerity. "Okay, I won't forget."

Jiang Wan turned around with a grin and walked towards the school gate.

As she walked, she kept looking back at Zhou Chong, and only when she was almost at the school gate did she smile and say, "Merry Christmas!"

Zhou Chong was stunned for a moment, but the girl in his sight was already running towards the school gate.

"Jiang Wan." He chased after her.

"Um?"

Zhou Chong took off his backpack, took out a box of chocolates, and handed it to Jiang Wan. "My dad sent these back from abroad. I don't like them, but you can have them."

Jiang Wan took the box of chocolates and immediately recognized it as Godiva dark chocolate, which happened to be her favorite flavor.

"Thank you, I really like it." She smiled, then tilted her head and asked him, "Do you know what it means to give a girl chocolates for Christmas?"

Zhou Chong looked down at her without saying a word.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Jiang Wan didn't want to make things difficult for him. She turned around with the box of chocolates in her hand and continued walking out of the school gate.

Anyway, as long as I know it, that's enough.
