Chapter 90 The Academic Prodigy Couple
After finishing his meal, Zhou Chong cleaned up the lunchbox and trash. When he returned, he saw Jiang Wan looking through the workbook he had just worked on.
"You even brought your homework?" Jiang Wan looked up and asked.
"Yeah, when I went to buy food, I went back to the classroom and brought your cup with me."
As he spoke, Zhou Chong took out Jiang Wan's thermos, unscrewed the lid, and handed her the steaming cup. "Would you like some water?"
Jiang Wan took her cup, drank two sips of water, and then handed the cup back to Zhou Chong.
“I’ll feel very anxious if you bring your homework to do, but I haven’t done it.” Jiang Wan looked down at the workbook lying on her lap and then flipped through two more pages.
“Actually, I brought your homework with me.” Zhou Chong paused, then took out another workbook from his bag. “But I thought you weren’t feeling well, so you shouldn’t do your homework. It’s more important to rest.”
Jiang Wan took her workbook from his hand and then held out her hand to him, saying, "Give me a pen."
"Stop writing." Zhou Chong remained seated.
"No, a whole evening study session has passed, and I still have a lot of homework to do." Jiang Wan frowned slightly. "If the teacher finds out I haven't done my homework when they go over the problems in class tomorrow, I won't be able to concentrate on the lesson and will have to catch up on it."
“Then I’ll help you with it.” Zhou Chong took out the pen from his exercise book, pressed the cap down, and reached out to take Jiang Wan’s homework. “I’ll write two copies; it won’t take much time.”
Jiang Wan held the exercise book and looked up at him.
Of course she knew that for Zhou Chong, doing two assignments was nothing, but at this point, doing homework was no longer about completing the teacher's assignment, but about filling in the gaps in his knowledge.
She knew that Zhou Chong was only thinking about her health and didn't mean anything by it.
"It's no use you doing my homework for me; I'll have to do it all myself later." Jiang Wan pursed her lips. "The second mock exam is next week, so how well I do depends on myself."
Zhou Chong paused for a moment, then opened his workbook. "There are many easy questions at the beginning of today's homework, which you all know, so you don't need to do them."
Jiang Wan blinked and leaned closer to Zhou Chong to look at his workbook. "Have you finished all of them?"
"Almost." Zhou Chong turned to a page and pointed to the few blank questions at the back. "There are still these few questions I haven't done. Why don't you watch me write them? If you don't understand anything, just ask me. Let's do all the homework together."
Jiang Wan paused slightly, thought for a moment, and decided that Zhou Chong's suggestion was feasible. "Okay."
Zhou Chong spread out his exercise book, one half in front of Jiang Wan and the other half on the edge of the bed. He held the spine of the exercise book with his left hand and a pen in his right. After glancing at it, he wrote a line of formulas on it.
"Hey, wait a minute," Jiang Wan suddenly said.
"What's wrong?" Zhou Chong stopped writing and turned his head in confusion. "This question tests a variation of this formula. Didn't you understand it?"
"No." Jiang Wan tugged at his sleeve and moved the workbook closer to her. "Isn't it uncomfortable for you to do the problems like this? It's uncomfortable for me to twist my neck to read the problems too."
After saying that, she patted the mattress next to her and said, "Come sit on me."
Zhou Chong hesitated for a moment, then turned his head to look in the direction outside the curtain.
"It's okay, the school nurse won't come." Jiang Wan moved further inside. "Didn't she tell you to call her when you were almost finished with your IV drip?"
Zhou Chong thought for a moment, then got up and sat down next to Jiang Wan, draping his long legs over the edge of the bed and spreading the exercise book out on his lap.
"Shall I continue writing?"
"Mmm." Jiang Wan nodded, leaned her upper body closer, rested her chin on his shoulder, and looked down at the question he was writing.
Zhou Chong's Adam's apple bobbed, forcibly ignoring the faint sweet scent mixed with the smell of disinfectant in his nostrils. He tensed his slightly stiff left shoulder to support the weight of his shoulder, and wrote rapidly on the exercise book with his right hand.
Inside the school doctor's office on the other side.
After sitting at his desk for a long time, the school doctor stood up, stretched his neck, and looked up at the wall clock.
It's been so quiet all day; I wonder what those two little ones are doing.
She strolled over, lifted the curtain, and stood at a distance outside the door, watching.
The two sat side by side on the edge of the bed, with an exercise book open in front of them. The boy was writing on the book with a pen, while the girl looked down at it, occasionally pointing to something and discussing solutions with the person next to her.
Wow, I didn't expect them to be a couple of academic high achievers.
She'd seen plenty of people come to the infirmary to date, but this was the first time she'd ever seen someone so focused on doing their homework.
The school doctor squinted and glanced at the IV drip hanging on the shelf in the distance; there was still a little less than half a bottle of medicine left to be infused.
She smiled, lowered the curtain, and turned back to her office.
-
"His body temperature has gone down a bit."
The school doctor removed Jiang Wan's needle and took her temperature again. "Remember to take your medicine on time when you get home, keep warm, and take your temperature again tomorrow. If it's high again, come back for an IV drip."
"Okay, thank you, school doctor." Jiang Wan smiled and nodded to the school doctor.
Zhou Chong checked the medicine in the bag, and after confirming that everything was correct, he smiled and nodded to the school doctor.
"Go back to your evening study session." The school doctor waved to the two of them. "This isn't a study room just for you two."
Jiang Wan was taken aback. After realizing what was happening, she exchanged a glance with Zhou Chong, smiled, and waved goodbye to the school doctor.
The second evening self-study session had been going on for a while, and the classroom was quiet. Two people quietly slipped in through the back door of the classroom.
As they passed Sun Qianyu's seat, Sun Qianyu turned around, grabbed Jiang Wan's hand, looked her up and down, and asked in a low voice, "Are you feeling better?"
"Much better," Jiang Wan replied in a breathy voice, gave an "OK" sign, and then returned to her seat.
Although I did some homework with Zhou Chong in the infirmary just now, there are still some other assignments left in the classroom.
After the IV drip was finished, her body temperature dropped significantly, and the dizziness and headache also lessened considerably. After taking a nap, Jiang Wan felt refreshed and quickly immersed herself in her studies.
Before she knew it, the bell rang to signal the end of evening self-study, but she was still engrossed in the problems she was working on.
Zhou Chong picked up his schoolbag and, seeing Jiang Wan still engrossed in her homework, couldn't help but remind her, "Go home and rest early."
"Okay, I'll pack my bag after I finish this problem," Jiang Wan replied without looking up.
Zhou Chong didn't say anything more, silently packed his own things, and then helped Jiang Wan pack her things as well, putting the medicine he had just gotten from the infirmary into her schoolbag.
Okay.
Jiang Wan put down her pen, put away the test paper, and returned the pen to her pencil case. Just as she zipped it up, she turned her head and saw Zhou Chong put her schoolbag on the table and gesture towards her with his lip.
She took the schoolbag and looked down, only to find that everything was packed and the medicine was neatly arranged; the only things missing were her pencil case and test papers.
"Thank you." Jiang Wan smiled, stuffed the pencil case and test papers inside, and zipped up her backpack. "Let's go."
"Hmm." Zhou Chong stood up, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and also took Jiang Wan's backpack with him.
Jiang Wan had no hands and didn't try to take it from him. She put her hands in her school uniform pockets and followed him out with a grin.
As soon as she reached the classroom door, she saw a familiar figure standing by the door, seemingly waiting for her.
Jiang Wan stopped in her tracks. "Shi Leyao, why haven't you gone back yet?"
