Chapter 99 Delusions
Who is Jiang Wan's crush?
Could it be... myself?
If not, then what kind of person would she like?
Will he have another chance in the future?
Zhou Chong thought about these questions all night.
Witnessing Qi Ming's rejection of Jiang Wan's confession, Zhou Chong felt a mix of emotions—a sense of relief mixed with unease.
He was no different from Qi Ming and many other boys who liked Jiang Wan; they were just one of the many people standing on the ground looking up at the moon.
The feelings of someone who secretly loves another are always humbled, and they dare not openly reveal them to her.
Perhaps, he is not as good as Qi Ming.
At least, Qi Ming dared to be so bold and straightforward in revealing himself.
And what about him?
Lost in these anxious and restless thoughts, Zhou Chong finally closed his eyes and took a short nap as the sky began to lighten.
But the moment he saw Jiang Wan after arriving at school, he suddenly didn't want to know anything anymore.
If you're afraid of getting answers you don't want, you might as well know nothing at all.
Anyway, it doesn't affect his continued liking for her.
For so many years, I've watched her back like this, day after day, for ten years. Haven't I gotten used to it?
Because of the care and closeness he had shown over the past six months, he began to harbor fantasies that did not belong to him.
Zhou Chong thought that people's desires were indeed becoming increasingly difficult to satisfy.
He only got a little bit more, and he wanted more.
They were husband and wife for three years in their past life, and they did all sorts of intimate things, but in the end they still got divorced. What is he thinking about now?
You shouldn't overthink it, Zhou Chong.
Jiang Wan looked up and saw Zhou Chong standing next to her seat. He smiled and waved to her, "Why are you so late today? This isn't like you. Did you relax all of a sudden after the college entrance exam?"
Zhou Chong smiled and pulled out a chair to sit down. "I slept in a little longer this morning."
"Me too, I haven't slept in late in ages." Jiang Wan nodded, didn't ask any more questions, and pushed the answer key on the table over. "Here, Lao Fan just handed them out, let us check the answers ourselves first."
"Hmm." Zhou Chong took the answer key and quickly scanned it.
The memory of the exam is still fresh; as long as I see the question, I can basically remember what my answer is.
Before long, the two of them had checked the answers for each subject and calculated the range of their total scores.
"It's over 700, right?" Zhou Chong scribbled a few numbers on the draft paper and turned to ask Jiang Wan.
"Hmm." Jiang Wan lowered her head, held the manuscript paper, and handed it to Zhou Chong. "Conservatively speaking, it should be around 705, which is the lowest score."
Zhou Chong lowered his eyes to look at Jiang Wan's estimated score. "You've been too tight with your calculations. It should be higher. This year's college entrance exam was quite difficult. When grading papers, the average score and the cut-off score for each batch need to be taken into account."
"I hope so." Jiang Wan smiled gently, her estimate was indeed rather conservative, because she didn't want to set her expectations too high; it's always better to be safe than sorry. "And you, are you taller than me?"
"Almost." Zhou Chong also spread out his draft paper.
Jiang Wan looked down at his manuscript. Zhou Chong's estimated total score was indeed not much different from hers, with a difference of no more than 5 points.
Based on this, it seems there shouldn't be any problem for the two of them to get into Tsinghua University together.
"Old Fan said that if there are any questions we're unsure about, we can go to his office to ask him. Other teachers from various subjects are also in the office and can help us estimate our scores." Jiang Wan tidied up her draft paper. "Should we go ask him again?"
"No need." Zhou Chong also tidied up the answer key and draft paper on the table. "It shouldn't be too far off."
Jiang Wan thought about it and agreed. She packed up the answer key and draft paper and put them in her bag. "We should be able to go to Tsinghua University together now."
Zhou Chong turned his head and looked down at Jiang Wan's phone on the table. The fluffy white rabbit phone charm was lying next to the phone, its four legs in the air and its belly exposed.
He reached into his pocket and touched the little gray rabbit hanging on his phone. "Hmm."
Jiang Wan looked up with a grin, her bright eyes meeting Zhou Chong's. "What are your plans for this long summer vacation? Where are you going to go?"
What she didn't say was: the long summer is the perfect time to nurture your relationship, how about we go on a date?
Zhou Chong looked at her quietly for two seconds, then lowered his eyes. "Next week, I'm going to Europe with my mom to visit my dad. The visa should be ready in the next few days."
"Oh, I see." Jiang Wan blinked. "How long will it take?"
“It will be a little over a month, and we’ll be back at the end of July.” Zhou Chong paused and explained to her, “My dad hasn’t been back to China for two years, and he won’t be able to come back for Chinese New Year this year either. Since we have some time during the summer vacation after my senior year of high school, my mom has been saving up her annual leave for several years, so the whole family will take a trip to Europe.”
“Yes, I understand.” Jiang Wan nodded, indicating her understanding. “It’s such a rare opportunity to spend time with family. It will be hard to have such a long vacation in the future.”
Zhou Chong lowered his eyes and nodded slightly. "And what about you?"
"Me?" Jiang Wan rested her chin on her hand and thought for a moment. "I also need to spend more time with my family, go stay with my grandma for a while, and make plans to go out with Sun Qianyu a few times."
Zhou Chong softly said, "Okay."
"Oh, right," Jiang Wan suddenly remembered something, "By the time you get back, you should have received your acceptance letter, right? Do you want to…"
Jiang Wan rolled her eyes. "I mean, if we keep our promise to go to Tsinghua University together, would you... give me a reward?"
Zhou Chong thought for a moment and nodded, "I will bring you a gift."
Jiang Wan silently cursed in her heart.
What a blockhead!
Doesn't this completely shut her down?
Oh well, a gift is nice too, at least it's not like we have nothing at all.
Jiang Wan smiled and said, "Okay, I'm looking forward to it."
Zhou Chong frowned, paused for a few seconds, and then nodded solemnly, "Okay."
He will definitely pick out a nice gift for her.
I hope she'll like it.
