Chapter 56 My Dad is Your Dad Too

Chapter 56 My Dad is Your Dad Too

When the bell rang, the two doors of the classroom opened wide, and parents filed in.

Jiang Wan was still packing her schoolbag when she turned her head and saw her parents.

Ms. Shan Tong was dressed quite elegantly today, wearing a soft cashmere coat, a begonia-shaped gemstone brooch at the collar, and carrying an elephant gray Hermès Birkin bag.

Before coming, she seemed to have made a special trip to the hair salon, where her hair was styled into fluffy and stylish waves. Her makeup was also exquisite and meticulous, with a gentle and dignified mauve lipstick, and her eyebrows were drawn thinly and curved. When she smiled, she was incredibly gentle and charming.

Jiang Wan was stunned for several seconds.

Is a parent-teacher meeting some kind of high-society party for business elites?

Is it worth her mother going to such lengths to dress her up?

Dan Tong was walking towards her with a smile, arm in arm with Jiang Ronghai. Jiang Wan snapped out of her daze, pursed her lips, glanced to the side, and exchanged a helpless look with her father.

The two men walked up to her in a few steps.

Standing next to Jiang Wan, Shan Tong glanced at Zhou Chong sitting in the next seat and asked, "Wanwan, is this your deskmate?"

"Ah, yes."

Jiang Wan nodded and was about to introduce him to her parents when she saw Zhou Chong stand up with his schoolbag and nod politely and humbly to her parents.

"Hello, uncles and aunts, my name is Zhou Chong, and I am Jiang Wan's deskmate."

"Hello." Jiang Ronghai smiled politely.

"So you're Zhou Chong! Wanwan has been talking about you for a long time. She said her deskmate is exceptionally talented, always ranking first in the grade. Uncle and Auntie, we've been wanting to meet you for ages."

As Shan Tong spoke, she smiled and exchanged a glance with her husband, "Looking at him today, he's not only good at studying, but also has a very handsome appearance and is so polite. He's really a wonderful child."

Zhou Chong humbly lowered his head and stepped aside to make room for him, saying, "Uncle and Aunt, please sit down."

"Oh dear, that won't do. There won't be any seats when your parents come. Wanwan's dad can stand at the back of the classroom." Shan Tong said, glancing out of the classroom. "Zhou Chong, where are your parents? Haven't they arrived yet?"

“It’s alright, Auntie. My parents are busy with work and can’t come to the parent-teacher meeting today.” Zhou Chong shook his head. “Uncle can sit here.”

"Ah... I see." Shan Tong was stunned, clearly not expecting things to turn out this way.

Jiang Ronghai was also stunned for a moment, especially when he compared the scene of himself and his wife attending together. For a moment, he didn't know whether he should sit down or stand up.

Jiang Wan tugged at their sleeves and offered to explain, "Zhou Chong's father is a diplomat at the embassy and is abroad most of the time. His mother has surgery at the hospital today and can't come over either."

Dan Tong nodded knowingly, and looked at Zhou Chong again with more tenderness in her eyes, "Zhou Chong, your mother is still busy with work, so why don't you come with us to have dinner later, so that your mother won't worry."

Zhou Chong was stunned for a moment, and before he could refuse, he heard Jiang Wan agree for him.

"Okay, Dad, Mom, let's go have dinner with Zhou Chong after the parent-teacher meeting."

"Okay, sure." Shan Tong gently stroked the stray hairs by Jiang Wan's ear. "Then you two wait for us at school. Since there's a parent-teacher conference today, your dad has already booked a private room at the restaurant. We'll go over together in a bit."

"Okay." Jiang Wan nodded, picked up her schoolbag, and said, "Then Zhou Chong and I will go out first. You guys sit down, we'll find a place to read for a while."

Zhou Chong moved his lips, but ultimately said nothing. After thanking Jiang Wan's parents and saying goodbye, he walked out of the classroom with Jiang Wan.

Watching the two figures walk away, Jiang Ronghai turned his head and whispered, "Wife, why do you still want to have dinner with Zhou Chong?"

“Her parents are so busy with work, they probably haven’t prepared dinner at home, so she can just eat with us.” Shan Tong turned around and sat in Jiang Wan’s seat, gesturing to the chair next to her. “You’re sitting in her seat, what’s wrong with treating her to a meal?”

“Of course I understand, it’s not just about a meal.” Jiang Ronghai also came over and sat down, nudging Shan Tong’s arm. “Is this really the only reason you want to invite Zhou Chong to dinner?”

Shan Tong straightened her posture and cleared her throat. "By the way, let's chat with Zhou Chong a little longer. We haven't even had a chance to talk much in this short time. Let's observe him a bit more."

Jiang Ronghai chuckled and shook his head. "You, I knew it."

-

When Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong walked out of the classroom, all the parents in the class had gradually arrived.

The parent-teacher meeting was about to begin. Jiang Wan stood outside the back door and glanced at her parents sitting side by side, whispering to each other. She couldn't help but want to laugh.

Zhou Chong stood behind her and glanced in their direction as well. After thinking for a moment, he couldn't help but ask, "Why did you invite me to have dinner with your family?"

"It saves you from having to cook when you get home alone," Jiang Wan replied matter-of-factly. "My mom would definitely think the same way."

Zhou Chong was taken aback. After thinking about it, it seemed that this was indeed the case. He must have been overthinking things.

While he was still in a daze, he suddenly heard Jiang Wan chuckle.

He snapped out of his daze and followed Jiang Wan's gaze into the classroom.

A parent stood in front of Jiang Ronghai, greeting him with a smile. However, Jiang Ronghai waved awkwardly at him. The parent paused for a moment, then smiled awkwardly as well.

He looked away, puzzled, and looked down at Jiang Wan. "What's wrong?"

“Look.” Jiang Wan turned around and waved to Zhou Chong. “My dad is sitting in your seat. People who don’t know him would think he’s your dad.”

Zhou Chong paused for a moment, his gaze towards Jiang Wan becoming inexplicably complex.

Well, saying it this way isn't really a problem.

After all, his father-in-law is also considered his father.

Jiang Wan glanced at Zhou Chong's indescribable expression and found it even more amusing, and even felt like teasing him.

"Hey, Zhou Chong, when you go to eat later, if you see my dad, why don't you call him 'Dad'?"

After saying that, she couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle to herself.

Zhou Chong: "..."

All I can say is that he did shout it.

Although not now.
