Chapter 65 His Little Moon

Chapter 65 His Little Moon

After helping Jiang Wan put on her slippers, Zhou Chong stood up.

Jiang Wan rubbed her eyes with her fingertips, stood up in her slippers, and smiled at Zhou Chong, "Thank you."

Zhou Chong smiled slightly, "Go wash your hands and get ready to eat."

"good."

Jiang Wan followed Zhou Chong toward the restroom, but just before reaching the door, she turned back and went to the private bathroom in her own room to wash her hands.

What's the deal with two people standing together in line to wash their hands?

Could it be that she still wants to be held in Zhou Chong's arms again and have him help her wash her hands?

The idea was good, but the reason seemed a bit too stiff compared to asking him to teach her how to beat eggs. Besides, the ambiguous feeling from earlier hadn't completely dissipated yet, and she couldn't handle going through it again so soon.

After washing her hands, Jiang Wan returned to the restaurant, where two dishes and a soup were already laid out on the table, and Zhou Chong was serving her rice.

"Thank you." Jiang Wan took the rice bowl from Zhou Chong, picked up her chopsticks, and eagerly took a piece of beef.

While she was still in the kitchen, she was almost overwhelmed by the aroma of this tomato stewed beef. Now that it's on the table, it looks even more appetizing.

"Mmm, so delicious!" Jiang Wan chewed on the beef in her mouth, her eyes narrowing into two crescent moons with satisfaction.

Looking at her smiling eyes, Zhou Chong was in a good mood and picked up a piece of beef as well. "Is it good? I haven't tried it yet."

"Mmm, it's delicious, you should try it." Jiang Wan nodded vigorously, her eyes shining as she looked at Zhou Chong. "The beef is stewed until very tender, and the tomato soup base is sweet and sour, very flavorful."

Zhou Chong swallowed the beef and nodded. "Hmm, it's alright."

"You're too modest." Jiang Wan glanced at him and picked up another shrimp. "The fried rice last time was delicious. I didn't expect you to be such a good cook. You're practically a master chef. No, you're like a god descended to earth."

Zhou Chong chuckled and placed a bowl of spinach and egg drop soup next to her.

Jiang Wan lowered her eyes and saw the wisps of egg floating in the soup bowl; her ears involuntarily turned red.

Knowing that Zhou Chong was sitting right across from her, she quickly picked up a porcelain spoon, scooped up a spoonful of soup, put it in her mouth and swallowed, commenting casually, "Hmm, the soup is also very delicious."

Zhou Chong noticed her reddened ear tips and found them adorable. He bent down and put another piece of beef into her bowl, saying, "Then eat more."

"Okay, thank you." Jiang Wan picked up her rice bowl, buried half her face in it, and quickly shoveled two mouthfuls into her mouth.

After eating and drinking her fill, Jiang Wan rubbed her lower abdomen and accidentally let out a burp.

She quickly shut her mouth, glanced awkwardly at Zhou Chong, and chuckled twice, "It's all because your cooking is too delicious, I'm a little full."

Zhou Chong chuckled and stood up, starting to clear the table of dishes. "It's time to eat something, otherwise I won't have the energy to study this afternoon."

Jiang Wan also stood up, intending to help Zhou Chong tidy up, but he refused.

Zhou Chong carried the plates and bowls into the kitchen. "I'll wash the dishes. You can go and rest for a while."

Jiang Wan thought for a moment and realized she was indeed a little sleepy, so she didn't argue with him. "Okay, then I'm going back to my room for a nap."

She had just turned to leave when Zhou Chong called her back.

"etc."

"What's wrong?" Jiang Wan stopped in her tracks.

"Didn't you say you were a little full?" Zhou Chong put the bowls and chopsticks into the sink, turned around and looked at her. "You just finished eating, don't lie down and sleep so soon, it's not good for your stomach. Let it digest first, and sleep for about half an hour."

"Oh." Jiang Wan nodded. "I understand."

He's clearly still a high school student, so where does this inexplicable sense of being an older, married man come from?

Jiang Wan pouted, walked around the living room twice, and then sat on the sofa to digest her food.

She leaned back against the sofa, holding a cushion in her arms, and gently rubbing her stomach with her right hand.

As she rubbed, her movements slowed down, and her eyelids began to droop.

The sound of running water in the kitchen hadn't stopped yet. It must have been less than half an hour. She tried to stay awake for a while, but she couldn't hold on any longer. She closed her eyes and fell asleep on the sofa.

After washing the dishes, Zhou Chong walked towards the living room while wiping his hands. As soon as he reached the sofa, he saw Jiang Wan, who was already asleep.

He chuckled and shook his head, tossed the paper towel into the trash can, and tiptoed to the sofa to sit down.

Only twenty minutes had passed, and he figured she must have just fallen asleep, so he thought he'd wake her up and have her go back to her room to sleep.

"Jiang Wan, Jiang Wan?"

Zhou Chong called her name a few times and gently patted her shoulder, but Jiang Wan remained unmoved, her eyes still tightly closed.

There's nothing I can do; I can't wake him up.

Sleeping while leaning back on the sofa like that is definitely uncomfortable and makes you more susceptible to catching a cold.

Zhou Chong gazed quietly at her sleeping face, pondered for a moment, and then quickly made a decision.

He bent down, leaned in front of her, and gently put his arm around her shoulder, while his other hand hooked around the back of her leg.

Instead of laying her flat on the sofa in this position, it would be better to carry her back to the room and let her sleep more comfortably in her own bed.

Zhou Chong made his decision in an instant.

With a quick tightening of his arms, he steadily lifted Jiang Wan into his arms.

The cushion in Jiang Wan's hand slipped and fell to the ground, rolling back and forth a few times with a bouncy motion, almost tripping Zhou Chong.

Zhou Chong then realized that he was more nervous than he had imagined.

Normally, how could a cushion possibly trip him up?

He barely managed to steady himself, and subconsciously looked down at Jiang Wan in his arms, worried that any sudden movement would wake her.

Thankfully, no.

She was fast asleep, her face resting against his chest, her breathing steady.

Zhou Chong breathed a sigh of relief. After regaining his senses, he shook his head with a self-deprecating laugh, not knowing what he had been so nervous about.

He carried Jiang Wan into the room, laid her flat on the bed, took off her slippers, and covered her with a blanket.

After doing all this, he sat down against the edge of the bed.

Not wanting to stray too far from her, nor wanting to waste this rare moment when he could look at her without restraint, Zhou Chong did not sit back down at his desk.

But worried that he might make a noise and wake her, he didn't sit on the edge of the bed and cause it to collapse, or move a chair over. Instead, he just sat directly on the carpet.

He gazed at his little moon from a low enough angle, almost level with hers, at a low enough position.
