Chapter 10: Not Worried About Top Students Falling in Love Too Early

Twenty minutes before evening self-study began, Lao Fan appeared in the classroom on time.

"Come on, class monitor, help me put the seating chart on the blackboard."

Old Fan waved to Jiang Shengming and then flicked the A3 paper in his hand.

Jiang Shengming stepped forward, took four magnetic clips from the podium, and pasted the seating chart squarely in the center of the blackboard.

As he smoothed out the corners, his gaze lingered on the lower left corner for a few seconds before he looked away, turned around without changing his expression, and walked off the stage.

Old Fan raised his hand and tapped the blackboard. "Alright, the new seating chart is here. Come up in an orderly fashion, find your seats, and then start moving."

After saying that, he put his hands behind his back and slowly strolled out of the classroom through the front door.

As soon as he left, the once quiet classroom immediately became lively.

The students in the first few rows rushed to the podium and looked for their names on the seating chart.

Sun Qianyu craned her neck, wanting to rush to the front of the blackboard, but Jiang Wan remained seated, and the distance between the chair back and the back table was very narrow. If Jiang Wan didn't get up, she couldn't get out.

"Wanwan, let's go take a look too." She nudged Jiang Wan's arm.

"What's the rush?" Jiang Wan propped her head up with one hand and twirled her pen deftly with the other. "There are so many people ahead of us, let's take it slow and go over when there are fewer people."

"Oh dear..." Sun Qianyu stomped her foot, about to urge Jiang Wan again, when she caught a glimpse of Jiang Shengming walking up to them and stopping, and quickly shut her mouth.

"Sun Qianyu," Jiang Shengming called out to her.

"Huh?" Sun Qianyu was stunned for a moment, then slowly turned her head to look at Jiang Shengming.

He stood by the aisle, a gentle smile on his face, and pointed to the last row of the next group, saying, "We'll sit there."

"Ah!" Sun Qianyu was stunned for a moment, then stood up excitedly two seconds later, "Really...really?"

"Really? I saw it when I was posting the seating chart." Jiang Shengming paused, then asked with a smile, "If you don't believe me, go take another look?"

"No...no need, I believe you." Sun Qianyu smiled, biting her lip slightly shyly. "I believe you."

Jiang Wan, sandwiched between the two, rested her chin on her hands, looking left and right, and couldn't help but reveal a maternal smile.

It's so good to be young.

"Then let's move quickly." Sun Qianyu shook Jiang Wan's arm impatiently. "Get up, make way, I need to move over."

Jiang Wan tilted her head and glanced at her, but before she could say anything, Jiang Shengming answered for her.

“No rush, I’ll make room for Jiang Wan first.” Jiang Shengming said, walking to the back row and tidying up his desk. “I checked for them too, and they can sit together in this row.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow, refraining from turning around to see Zhou Chong's reaction.

Sun Qianyu, who was standing next to her, was even more excited than her. "Wow, really!"

Hearing her surprised tone, Jiang Shengming assumed she was just as surprised as he was.

"I thought it was strange when I saw it just now." Jiang Shengming paused in his work, glanced at Zhou Chong, and then at Jiang Wan. "Could it be because Lao Fan moved me and Sun Qianyu away, and for convenience, just put you two together?"

Upon hearing his words, Jiang Wan couldn't help but burst out laughing.

She turned her head, past Jiang Shengming, and her gaze fell on Zhou Chong almost imperceptibly. "That's possible."

Zhou Chong also looked over, his eyes seeming to hold some emotion.

"Oh, right." Jiang Shengming finished packing his things and was about to drag the table out when he suddenly spoke up: "Zhou Chong, move over here. Jiang Wan can sit in your seat, and you can sit closer to the aisle."

Zhou Chong withdrew his gaze from Jiang Wan's face and said calmly, "Okay."

Senior year students have a lot of stuff, so when they change seats, everyone moves their desks along with them, and the classroom is filled with the sounds of desks and chairs being dragged around.

Jiang Shengming moved to the last row of the next group first, and then Zhou Chong moved to the side, freeing up his original window seat.

Jiang Wan only started dragging the table diagonally backward after Sun Qianyu had moved out.

The distance is very short, she thought, she could move it in one go.

So, she mustered her strength, grabbed the edge of the table with both hands, and pulled herself back with all her might.

The idealized scenario I had imagined didn't happen; instead, the table shook violently back and forth twice.

Jiang Wan was startled and quickly let go, instinctively stepping back, afraid that the table would fall and run over her foot.

Before I could react, my back suddenly bumped into a broad chest.

For some reason, it felt very familiar.

Jiang Wan's heart skipped a beat. She turned around and saw Zhou Chong.

He held her shoulder with one hand and steadied her on the table with the other, looking down at her.

Zhou Chong's upper eyelids are very thin, and when they droop downwards, the faint double eyelid creases are very clear, making his eyebrows and eyes appear even more striking.

Those dark, bright eyes always looked deep and profound, no matter when you looked at them.

She always seems to be hiding her emotions, and even at twenty-eight, Jiang Wan is unfathomable.

Jiang Wan looked into his eyes and couldn't help but drift off into thought. Zhou Chong didn't say anything either, and the two of them stared at each other quietly for a few seconds.

A moment later, Zhou Chong looked away and released his grip on her shoulder. "Be careful."

"Hmm." Jiang Wan blinked and steadied herself by holding onto the table.

She was about to drag the table back further when the cold, white hand resting on the edge of the table pressed down hard.

"I'll do it."

Jiang Wan was taken aback for a moment, then turned around and gave Zhou Chong a sweet smile, "Okay, thank you."

Zhou Chong's eyes darted away again.

He pursed his lips, said nothing more, and deftly moved Jiang Wan's table next to his own.

Before the evening self-study bell rang, everyone had changed seats.

Old Fan came in, walked around, gave a few instructions on self-study rules, and then left through the back door of the classroom.

Before the official bell rang, the boy sitting at the table in front of Jiang Wan turned around and glanced between Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong.

After thinking about it, I couldn't help but ask out of curiosity, "Why can you two sit together as boys and girls, but Lao Fan and I were rejected when we applied?"

This boy's name is Zhang Chi, and he is the class's sports representative.

Jiang Wan was stunned for a moment, and before she could think of a reply, Li Yang, who was sitting next to Zhang Chi, turned around and patted her on the shoulder.

"These are the first and second in our class, no, the first and second in the grade. Of course, Lao Fan isn't worried about top students dating early. Do you think everyone is like you?"

Hearing this, Jiang Wan felt a little guilty. She subconsciously glanced at Zhou Chong, but saw him calmly looking down at his work, so she quietly looked away.

That's true, how could someone like Zhou Chong possibly have a puppy love relationship?

His mind was filled with problems, studying, and striving to be number one.

Zhang Chi pursed his lips and glanced at the next room, "Where are the class monitor and Sun Qianyu?"

“The class monitor is fifth in the grade.” Li Yang patted Zhang Chi on the shoulder. “And he’s the class monitor, the person Lao Fan trusts the most.”

Zhang Chi was once again rebuffed, and turned his anger towards Li Yang, "Then why were you and I grouped together?"

"Do you think I wanted to sit with you?" Li Yang was also annoyed. "I was sitting with my best buddy and everything was fine, but I didn't do well on this monthly exam, so I ended up sitting next to you."

Hearing Li Yang's words, Jiang Wan finally realized why Zhou Chong's original seat had been moved and she had been placed by the window.

She turned her head, her gaze passing over Zhou Chong's back, the aisle, and Jiang Shengming's profile, before she could barely see half of Sun Qianyu's head.

Goodness, Lao Fan is still Lao Fan as always; his thought process is still so hard to understand.
