Chapter 33 Independent Enrollment Presentation

Chapter 33 Independent Enrollment Presentation

After the little incident in the morning, I plunged into another day of monotonous and busy studying.

The second period in the afternoon was physics class taught by the homeroom teacher, Lao Fan. After that, there was a long break and two self-study periods. Jiang Wan was hunched over her desk writing the physics homework that had just been assigned when she suddenly heard someone call her name.

Looking up, I saw Jiang Shengming.

“Jiang Wan, Zhou Chong,” Jiang Shengming stood in front of their desk. “Old Fan wants us to go to his office together.”

"Us?" Jiang Wan sat up straight, her eyes darting between Zhou Chong and Jiang Shengming. "Now?"

"Okay." Jiang Shengming nodded, glancing around the classroom. "There are a few other people. I'll go get them. You guys go ahead."

After saying that, he turned and walked towards the rows in front.

Jiang Wan tidied up the things on the table. "Shall we go?"

"Okay." Zhou Chong also packed up his things and stood up.

The two walked down the stairs together, turned the corner, and walked along the west corridor on the third floor.

Thinking that there were other classmates behind her, Jiang Wan walked at a leisurely pace. Anyway, if she went early, she would just be punished by standing in Lao Fan's office, so she might as well chat with Zhou Chong a little longer on the way.

But for some reason, Zhou Chong seemed unusually quiet today. From the moment she arrived at the classroom in the morning, it was basically a matter of her asking a question and him answering it.

Although Zhou Chong is usually not very talkative, and she usually takes the initiative to talk to him, today seems different from usual.

It wasn't just that he was quiet; even his eyes were silent, as if he was hiding something on his mind.

Jiang Wan could vaguely sense that he was in a bad mood, but she couldn't figure out why, so she could only try to make small talk with him despite the oppressive atmosphere.

"Zhou Chong, tell me, what does Lao Fan want us to do?"

You'll find out when you get there.

Jiang Wan pursed her lips and changed the subject, "What's the date today?"

"December 25th."

"Oh—" Jiang Wan squinted her eyes, deliberately feigning surprise, "Today is Christmas."

“Hmm.” Zhou Chong lifted his eyelids. “Didn’t you already know that?”

"I...who said I already knew?" Jiang Wan blinked. "I only found out now when you told me..."

"You received a ton of chocolates and greeting cards this morning."

Zhou Chong shut Jiang Wan down with just one sentence.

Jiang Wan obediently shut her mouth, her cheeks puffed out as she looked at Zhou Chong.

Why did she feel that Zhou Chong's words had a strangely sarcastic tone?

At that moment, Jiang Shengming's voice came from behind them.

"Hey, you two are only just getting here?" Jiang Shengming led a few classmates forward. "I thought you were already in Lao Fan's office."

Jiang Wan forced a smile. "No, I was thinking of walking slowly so I could go in with you."

“That’s true.” Jiang Shengming nodded and quickened his pace. “Alright, let’s go in quickly.”

The group walked together, and Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong had no chance to say anything to each other alone. They walked quietly into the office.

As soon as Lao Fan saw them, he waved to everyone, "Come on, all of you."

Several people walked over to Lao Fan and stood in a semi-circle around him.

"Here's the thing, today, admissions officers from several of the nation's top universities are here to give internal presentations on their independent admissions programs, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, among others."

Old Fan got straight to the point and explained things clearly: "Our school has quotas for these universities' independent enrollment programs, so we organized some outstanding students in our grade to attend this information session."

"The scope of this presentation is very small. Only thirty or forty students in the whole grade can attend. Our class, as a top science class, was allocated ten spots. I nominated the top ten students from each of your classes based on the overall ranking of previous exams."

Jiang Wan glanced around and realized that those who had been called over were indeed students who consistently ranked in the top ten of the class.

Besides her and Zhou Chong, there were also Jiang Shengming, Shi Leyao, Cheng Rui, and others.

"Alright, nothing else. Go back and get your notebooks and pens. During the third self-study period, go to the lecture hall in Building 1."

"OK."

"Thank you, teacher."

Just as everyone was about to leave, Lao Fan suddenly called them back.

"However, I want to make it clear to you that the information sessions are only for learning about the independent enrollment policies of various universities and to help prospective students choose schools. They do not guarantee the allocation of recommendation quotas by the schools."

Jiang Wan was naturally aware of this.

As someone who had lived through her previous life, she clearly remembered that at the end of the first semester of her senior year, the school allocated the recommendation quotas for independent enrollment based on the ranking of the total scores of previous major exams.

At that time, she ranked second in her grade and received a recommendation for Peking University's independent enrollment program. She later passed the written test and interview and was successfully pre-admitted to Peking University through independent enrollment. As long as her college entrance examination score reached the first-tier university admission line, she could go to Peking University.

So during the final period of her senior year, she stopped attending school and studied at home, easily passing the college entrance examination.

To be honest, Jiang didn't experience the tense atmosphere that others described when he took the college entrance exam in his lifetime.

She took the exam lightly and without any pressure, then flew abroad with her family for a trip.

After a wonderful trip, I received my acceptance letter from Peking University, and then I packed my bags to go to university.

Now, given a second chance, she wants to take a different path.

Of course, there are also objective reasons, namely, given her current level, it's hard to say whether she can get a recommendation from the school.

Even if she still gets a recommendation, she might not be able to pass the independent admission exam.

After all, the difficulty of the independent admission exam is much greater than that of the college entrance examination.

Besides, she never wanted to go to Peking University again in her life.

She followed the crowd toward the first teaching building, with Zhou Chong walking beside her. Their oversized school uniforms rubbed together from time to time, making a rustling sound.

It wasn't harsh, but rather like a tickle on her heart.

Jiang Wan turned to look at the boy beside her. His three-dimensional and deep features remained calm, unlike the others who showed undisguised excitement.

In his previous life, Zhou Chong later studied at Tsinghua University.

Would he still make the same choice now?
