"What do you mean?" Qiao Xi realized she had underestimated his cold-bloodedness.
“He is not good enough for you.” Wen Shaoqing said with an air of superiority: “If you want to do great things, the first thing you must do is to abandon so-called emotions.”
"You're hopeless!"
Wen Shaoqing said smugly, "If you do as I say, I can let them go."
Just then, a group of people surged out from all around, each wielding a weapon and pointing it at Wen Shaoqing and his men. "Don't move!"
"We are police officers. Put down all your weapons."
Wen Shaoqing didn't expect them to make such an arrangement, but after seeing it, she wasn't very surprised.
Instead, he laughed and said, "My good daughter, you really did have a backup plan."
"The evidence is conclusive, you should just surrender," Qiao Xi finally advised him.
Wen Shaoqing sneered, "It seems you don't take him seriously either."
“I’m not like you,” Qiao Xi said clearly. “If anything happens to him, I won’t live on alone.”
"Is that so?" Wen Shaoqing didn't seem to doubt her.
The police officer slowly approached him. "Don't move."
Wen Shaoqing said confidently, "It's alright, there's still an hour left. If I don't call back, he'll still die."
"Alright, let's reunite as a family."
"You're not worthy." Qiao Xi refused his invitation.
Wen Shaoqing felt she hadn't lost. "With him buried with me, I don't think I'll be too lonely."
Qiao Xi didn't have time to waste with him; she was in a hurry to go back and find Qi Jincheng.
Wen Shaoqing kindly advised her, "It's too late, don't waste your time."
Qiao Xi will never give up until the very last moment.
But she wouldn't beg Wen Shaoqing; she would accept whatever the outcome.
At worst, she'd just die with him.
The police returned to the villa with Qiao Xi, but upon entering, they were greeted by a scene of carnage.
She was terrified.
After she calmed down, she started calling out loudly, "Ah Jin!"
"Qi Jincheng!"
"Qi Jincheng, where are you?"
She called out as she searched for Qi Jincheng throughout the villa, but couldn't find him anywhere.
"Come out here."
Didn't you say you'd wait for me?
"Ah Jin!"
"..."
She had searched everywhere she could think of, but the sun had already set, and she still couldn't find him.
She slumped to the ground, completely devoid of energy.
After an unknown amount of time, she cheered up again.
As long as his body hasn't been found, he might still be alive.
She rushed back to their shared home, hoping for a miracle there.
But no.
Just as she was feeling disheartened, a voice appeared behind her, "Xi'er."
The moment she heard the sound, Qiao Xi came to life.
She turned around abruptly, and there stood a familiar person behind her. "Ah Jin!"
She ran towards him without hesitation, and Qi Jincheng did the same.
They hugged each other tightly.
Qiao Xi felt his heartbeat and body temperature, and her tense nerves finally relaxed.
"You scared me to death! I went back to look for you, but I couldn't find you."
"I'm sorry for making you worry." Qi Jincheng hugged her tightly, his eyes slightly moist as he murmured, "I couldn't get in touch with you, and I didn't know where to look for you."
"I'm so glad you're alright." Qiao Xi's tears had already overflowed.
Qi Jincheng slowly released his embrace, carefully wiping away the tears on her cheeks, and said, "I just contacted Jun Jiuge, and she told me everything."
"It's alright, it's all over now."
"Yes!" Qiao Xi nodded vigorously.
Qi Jincheng pulled her into his arms again. "We will never be apart again."
Never.
over.
