Chapter 44 Heredity

"Yes, sir!" Qiao Xi immediately straightened her head and obeyed the order.

Qi Jili greeted her cheerfully, "You've come at the perfect time. All the dishes are served. Come and eat!"

As he spoke, he also took off the apron from his waist.

Qiao Xi then noticed this and couldn't help but ask, "Grandpa, you didn't cook it yourself, did you?"

Qi Jili nodded proudly and said, "Yes, these are all my specialties. Try them and then give me a score."

Qiao Xi's eyes widened instinctively, and she said with a look of utter disbelief, "Grandpa, how can we let you cook for us?"

"If he doesn't cook, who will?" Shen Zhi Qiu said casually in a gentle tone.

Qi Jili echoed, "That's right. A country has its laws, and a family has its rules. Our Qi family's rule is that men must cook."

Upon hearing this, Qiao Xi was taken aback. Not to mention now, she didn't even know that the Qi family had such a family rule in her previous life!

She couldn't help but glance at Qi Jincheng, whose face showed a rare hint of guilt.

"Does our family have such a rule?" When Qiao Xi asked this question, her eyes glanced at Qi Jincheng. Qi Jincheng seemed to avoid her gaze, and his expression was somewhat... as if someone had caught him red-handed.

Hearing Qiao Xi's question, Qi Jili looked surprised. "Don't you know, Xiao Xi?"

Qiao Xi replied honestly, "Ah Jin didn't tell me."

Upon hearing this, Qi Jili's expression darkened, and he gave Qi Jincheng a warning look. "Could it be that Xiaoxi has been cooking since you got married?"

"We hired another chef," Qi Jincheng replied quickly.

"Sigh." Shen Zhi Qiu suddenly sighed heavily, and said in a teasing tone, "Our President Qi is so busy that he doesn't even have time to cook a meal."

Qi Jincheng readily accepted the criticism and replied, "I've been busy at the company lately. Once things settle down, I'll make sure to take good care of Xiaoxi's three meals a day."

Hearing him say that, Shen Zhi Qiu reluctantly believed him, "That's more like it."

Qiao Xi originally intended to tease Qi Jincheng, but she didn't expect the two elders to be so strict with him!

However, she really didn't know about this rule in the Qi family, and she could see that it was always her grandfather who cooked for her grandmother, but now that they were retired, her grandfather wasn't so busy anymore.

But her Ah Jin is different. He's so busy at work every day, how could he have the time and energy to cook for her?

Although she liked this family rule very much, she still had to follow the actual situation.

After organizing her thoughts, Qiao Xi slowly said to Shen Zhi Qiu, "Grandma, A Jin is already very tired. Let me do the cooking. Although my cooking skills are not great right now... I will try my best to improve."

Shen Zhi Qiu said to her with eyes full of affection, "The kitchen is not a place for our Xiao Xi. We must protect Xiao Xi's hands."

Qi Jili chimed in, "That's right. Our Xiaoxi is still a student. These hands are for giving advice and guidance, not for cooking for you, you brat. You're getting better treatment than me."

You could hear the old man's indignation in his words, but the real thing was Qi Jincheng's face; he saw his smugness and pride.

If Qiao Xi hadn't been here, Qi Jili would definitely have given him a good talking-to right now.

Qiao Xi also noticed the pride on Qi Jincheng's face. The thought that his pride came from her made her feel very happy.

"Let's eat, Xi'er must be hungry." Shen Zhi Qiu ended the conversation.

Although Qi Jili was unwilling, he had to listen to his wife and could not disobey her in matters of the house. He also called out to Qiao Xi, "Alright, alright, let's stop talking and eat."

"We'll just have something simple for lunch, but I'll treat Xiaoxi to something delicious for dinner," Shen Zhi Qiu said to Qiao Xi with obvious affection.

Looking at the table full of delicious dishes, Qiao Xi exclaimed, "Grandma, this is already a very lavish spread."

"That's nothing." Qi Jili thought this was a compliment, so he responded immediately.

Qiao Xi praised him from the bottom of her heart, "Grandpa, you are really amazing."

Hearing such praise, Qi Jili was overjoyed and couldn't help but boast, "If it weren't for the time constraint, I would definitely..."

Unfortunately, Shen Zhi Qiu didn't give him a chance to finish speaking, interrupting him by asking Qiao Xi, "Is it delicious?"

Qiao Xi nodded as she ate, "Delicious, everything is so delicious."

"As long as it tastes good." Shen Zhi Qiu looked pleased with her reaction.

Although she didn't cook the food, she trained the people who cooked it.

But Qi Jili couldn't help feeling a little unhappy, so he seized the opportunity to lecture Qi Jincheng, "You brat, learn from this."

Qi Jincheng knew this meal wouldn't be very 'delicious', but he didn't expect it to be this 'bad'.

Before he married Qiao Xi, his parents had repeatedly warned him, and now, seeing Qiao Xi's attitude towards them, they were even more concerned, which directly led to his status being much lower than before.

Seeing this, Qiao Xi suppressed a laugh and cast a sympathetic look at Qi Jincheng, who returned a pitiful and helpless look.

Seeing his discomfiture, Qiao Xi couldn't bear it. Under the old man's guidance, Qiao Xi dared to speak well of Qi Jincheng, saying, "Jincheng's noodles are delicious."

What was meant as a compliment took on a different meaning to Qi Jili. He frowned and said, "He only makes noodles for you?"

Qiao Xi was momentarily speechless. Seeing that her father was about to lecture Qi Jincheng again, Qiao Xi quickly said, "It was my request. He made it so delicious."

Upon hearing this, the old man calmed down and then cleared his throat as if to say, "Ahem."

Then, with a proud look on his face, he uttered two words: "Genetics."

Before he could finish speaking, he received a helpless look from Shen Zhi Qiu, but it was full of love.

Qiao Xi chimed in, "I think so too."

Qi Jili was overjoyed again, and he said with a smile, "I'll go check out the dessert."

Just as he got up from his seat, Qiao Xi suddenly shouted, "Grandpa, be careful!"

The young girl who had just opened the door was carrying a plate when Qi Jili stood up and almost bumped into her. The girl turned around quickly, but the plate still flew out of her hand, and the soup in the bowl was spilled all over Qiao Xi's face and body.

Qi Jincheng was the first to react, "Xi'er!"

The young girl looked at Qiao Xi, who was covered in soup, and cried out in distress, "Young Madam."
