Chapter 153 You Want Me to Be Childless
The Indian dog crouched low and ran ahead furtively.
Then he crouched behind a rock and remained silent.
"You're not an Indian, are you sure you can handle this?" Peony whispered.
This is a dead end; once they are discovered, they will only be left to die.
The Indian man made a "don't worry" gesture.
"Your Highness, perhaps we should try another approach?" Haitang said nervously, "This Indian is somewhat..."
It wasn't that I was afraid he was a spy, it's just that this guy was a bit simple-minded and a bit dim-witted.
Jiang Wan Ning looked at the Indian man lying on the ground with his ears pressed against the ground, "We have no choice but to trust him now."
All four men were injured to varying degrees; if any more assassins followed, they would surely die.
Jiang Wan Ning was 100% certain that there was an assassin behind them.
A short while later, the ground began to tremble slightly.
“It seems there are even more people coming,” Haitang said. “No wonder they didn’t catch up for so long.”
Tuoba Yan'er collapsed to the ground, exhausted. "Forget it, I don't want to struggle anymore. Anyway, they're killing you, not me."
Peony kicked him hard, "You heartless bastards, is this what you Western Xia people are like?"
"I am a princess, how dare you, a mere maid, kick me?"
Tuoba Yan'er didn't move her body, but stretched out her legs and kicked hard at Shaoyao, raising a cloud of dust.
"And why do you keep possessing our Western Xia Kingdom?"
"Even if I'm not good, our Western Xia is still very good."
"I'm about to die, can't I even kick you a couple of times?" Peony bent down, grabbed two handfuls of dirt, and threw them at Tuoba Yan'er's head.
"Ahem..." Tuoba Yan'er waved the dirt in front of her, "I said you should control this little fat boy."
Jiang Wan Ning ignored the two's playful fight. Tuoba Yan'er knew in her heart that these people would not let her go if they wanted to kill her; she just wanted everyone to relax.
"They're here!" Ah San excitedly called out to Jiang Wan Ning.
"No? Is it appropriate for him to be so happy when the enemy comes?" Tuoba Yan'er suddenly felt that it was unreliable to place her only hope on this kind of person.
He nimbly got up from the ground.
The Indian man started by holding onto a rock to secure it, then took a few steps forward, picked up a marked rock, moved it back, and secured it.
He continued this gesture until he reached Jiang Wan Ning, then chuckled.
Ah San grinned at Jiang Wan Ning, "Your Highness, please move aside."
Jiang Wan Ning took two steps back, while Ah San, like a monkey, clung to a piece of something and climbed up the cliff.
They repeated the same action.
Jiang Wan Ning immediately realized what he was doing.
As soon as the Indian finished doing all this, the assassins all came after him.
The crabapple and peony trees tightly protected Jiang Wan Ning behind her.
"Sisters, don't be nervous. With me here, Ah San, everything will be fine."
Ah San patted his chest and guaranteed.
The crabapple and peony plants remained untouched.
Ah San pursed his lips, rushed out, and waved to the assassin, "Hey~ we're here, come and catch us!"
Haitang drew her sword, ready to stab Ah San, "That traitor!"
Jiang Wan Ning reached out to stop her, "Wait."
Haitang hesitated slightly, but she would only obey Jiang Wanning's words and would not question them.
Jiang Wan Ning stopped Hai Tang, but forgot about Shao Yao. By the time she realized what was happening, Shao Yao had already hit Ah San in the crotch with a pebble.
Ah San's face turned deathly pale instantly. He bent over, clutching his groin and trudging over, "Grandma..."
"You're really ruthless."
"Others just want to kill me, but you want me to be childless."
Peony wanted to kick it again, but Jiang Wanning quickly stopped her.
"Look!" Haitang pointed ahead.
The assassins' horses suddenly collapsed, letting out painful cries.
Those chasing behind couldn't stop in time and crashed into it.
"Watch your step!" the leader shouted. "They're selling knife wire underground."
The blade is as thin as a hair, white in color, and completely invisible in sunlight; though thin, it can cut through iron like mud.
The stone that the Indian man just pulled was the taut wire that cut off the horses' hooves.
The remaining assassins cautiously charged forward, stepping over the corpses of their companions and horses.
Just when he thought he was safe, his neck was severed by a blade. The remaining three or five assassins dared not approach.
"pull!"
"You're really something, kid." Tuoba Yan'er patted A-San on the back.
Ah San straightened up, his face grim. "So next time, sisters, don't be so eager to kill me."
"I am very smart."
"How did you get here?" Jiang Wan Ning asked coldly.
The Indians were so well-prepared; they must have known what was going to happen. Not only that, they even arrived ahead of time.
“Your Highness…” Ah San hesitated, “This is a different price.”
"The princess is asking you a question, and you dare to bargain?" Haitang drew her sword and stepped forward.
Jiang Wan Ning stopped him and said to Ah San, "Tell me, I won't treat you badly."
Ah San then explained with a grin, "Didn't I used to work for them?"
"Well, I know some guys in there, so I found out."
“I know you won’t believe me if I say this, and I can’t persuade them otherwise, so this is the only way.”
"You're working under them, so you mean these people are the Grand Princess's people?"
Ah San nodded and then shook his head. "The Grand Princess only raised a portion of them; apart from the younger ones, the rest were all wiped out by you."
"But there's someone behind her, and these belong to that person."
"I met him during a mission once, but he didn't know I had become a traitor."
"Why did you join them?" Peony asked. "Joining them means you're not a good person either."
Ah San looked miserable. "Oh my goodness, they gave me money."
"The reward for the first merit in completing the mission is not a small amount of silver."
"But later I saw that they also killed some innocent people, including good officials. I couldn't bear it, and I couldn't get any reward."
"He's just thinking about clinging to the princess's coattails," Ah San said with a grin, looking at Jiang Wan Ning.
The look in his eyes was as if he were looking at the God of Wealth.
"You have done a great service this time. Don't worry, the prince has a priceless treasure that I will give to you when we get back."
Ah San rubbed his hands together and shouted excitedly, "Thank you, Your Highness! Thank you, Your Highness!"
"No, Your Highness, are you really going to give him a priceless treasure?"
Peony wasn't jealous, she just felt this kid was unreliable. If he relied on the Prince's Mansion for money, wouldn't he then rely on someone else for money as well?
Jiang Wan Ning smiled mysteriously, "Let's go, let's hurry on our way."
Just as the group mounted their horses, another wave of assassins appeared from behind.
"No, again?" Tuoba Yan'er said helplessly, "They really want you dead."
Jiang Wan Ning also frowned. Although she didn't have to go to the frontier, Pei Yan Chuan could open the granary, but this couldn't go on forever.
The priority is to get out of danger as soon as possible.
Everyone turned to look at Ah San.
