Chapter 253 Selling His Own Mother
Kwok Ping-man breathed a sigh of relief. He would go inside and talk to them later; he couldn't just end up wandering the streets without ever seeing anyone.
Granny Xi glared at Guo Bingwen and reluctantly led the person inside. Guo Bingwen looked at the group of servants packing their luggage and asked in surprise, "Are you going back to the capital?"
Princess Ping'an glanced at Guo Bingwen with disdain, "You say you've met Young Master Xuan?"
"Where is he? Where is he? You better not be lying to me, or I'll make you pay!"
When Guo Bingwen saw that Princess Ping An was not as gentle to him as before, his heart sank. "Jiang Wan Ning said you were using me, but I didn't believe it."
"I think she's deliberately trying to drive a wedge between you and me, don't you think? Don't you think so?"
As he spoke, Guo Bingwen took a step forward and reached out to grab Princess Ping'an's hand, but Ping'an flicked her hand away, dodging Guo Bingwen.
"How dare you!" Princess Ping'an said sternly, "You poor scholar, how dare you covet this princess? Go and take a good look at that puddle of filth over there, and see what kind of person you are. Do you think I would want to see you?"
Kwok Ping-man's heart sank to the bottom. His shoulders suddenly slumped, and he unconsciously took two steps back. "Why?"
"You said you wanted to spend your life with me, so why are you like this now?"
"Since you look down on me, why did you come to provoke me? Or do you already know why I was kicked out by Jiang Wanjun and lost all my assets?"
As Guo Bingwen spoke, he became more and more agitated, “It doesn’t matter if I don’t have any family property, I can still pass the imperial examinations and get official titles. I can sue Jiang Wanjun’s family and make them return my family property.”
Princess Ping An scoffed coldly, "Guo Bingwen, you really are pathetically stupid."
"Jiang Wanning has already told you my true purpose in approaching you, yet you still don't believe me. Do you really think that I, a princess and the only daughter of the Grand Princess, would look down on a poor scholar like you?"
"A man like you, relying on his wife and then heartlessly abandoning her in the end, do you think I'm a fool?"
"Quickly tell me the whereabouts of Young Master Xuan. If you do, I, the princess, may still give you some face. But if you continue to be foolish and pester me, don't blame me for being impolite!"
Guo Bingwen finally understood and believed that he was just a clown being used. As he looked up at Princess Ping'an's noble face, hatred gradually grew in his heart. He looked at the lake behind Princess Ping'an and clenched his hands tightly.
"Idiot, what are you spacing out for... Ah—"
Before Princess Ping'an could finish speaking, Guo Bingwen pushed her into the lake.
During the struggle, Guo Bingwen accidentally pulled down Princess Ping'an's collar.
"Quickly, save the princess!" Granny Xi hurriedly ordered the servant to jump into the water to rescue her.
"Anyone who doesn't utter a word about what happened today will lose their head."
Granny Xi quickly wrapped Princess Ping'an in clean clothes before looking up at the servants who had jumped into the water to save her.
"Go and..." Just as he was about to say that he should arrest Guo Bingwen and his mother, they had already disappeared in the chaos.
Princess Ping'an huddled tightly in her clothes, her face contorted with rage. "Go find him! Find him and skin him alive for me!"
On the other side,
Only after escaping did Kwok Ping-man realize what he had done in his excitement.
That was the most noble princess of Dongling Kingdom, the only daughter of the Grand Princess. How dare he push her down? But now that he thinks about it, when he was hesitating as he reached out, he felt like he was hit in the waist by something, which is why he was so strong.
But it's too late to say anything now; if I go back and explain, probably no one will believe me.
The old lady leaned against the wall, panting, "My son, didn't you say that the princess was deeply in love with you? How come she's like this?"
"Is there some misunderstanding between you two? Why don't you go and try to see her again?"
Growing impatient, Kwok Ping-man roared, "Are you trying to kill me by sending me there now?"
The old lady quickly shrank her neck and whispered, "It's all your fault. I thought the Jiang family was a good family from the beginning, but you insisted on being with this so-called princess."
"Jiang Wanjun is easier to handle. This so-called princess has absolutely no manners."
"Are you out of your mind!" Guo Bingwen quickly covered the old lady's mouth. "You publicly said that the princess is ill-mannered. Aren't you afraid that the Grand Princess will come and take your life?"
"You don't want to live, but I do."
After venting his anger, Guo Bingwen finally calmed down. The old lady was stunned for a long time after being yelled at, and finally touched her stomach. "Son, what are we going to eat later? Mother is hungry. I haven't eaten or drunk anything all day."
“Eat, eat, eat! How am I supposed to know what to eat?” Kwok Ping-man roared.
It would have been better if he hadn't been reminded, because once he was reminded, he realized he was also a little hungry. He looked around and finally fixed his gaze on a lively place.
"Wait here, I'll go get some food. Just stay here and don't wander off, or I'll have to look for you again."
Seeing that Guo Bingwen's attitude towards her had improved again, the old lady nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, right now I just want to leave but I'm too hungry and tired to walk."
"I'm not going anywhere, I'll just wait for you to come back here."
Kwok Ping-man nodded in relief, looked around in the alley, walked around for a while, and finally arrived at the gate of the Yi Hong Lou.
"Sir, are you here to have some fun?" The madam swayed her hips and walked over with a solicitous smile.
Kwok Ping-man pulled the madam aside and whispered something in her ear.
The madam's expression shifted from surprise to normal as she looked Guo Bingwen up and down. "Young master," she said, "I've seen all kinds of people I sell here."
"This is the first time I've ever seen someone sell their own mother."
"Your mother must be at least sixty years old, right?"
Guo Bingwen didn't care at all, "Your Yihonglou is full of beautiful women, but there must also be some with special fetishes, whether they are twenty or sixty."
"Who knows, there might actually be someone willing to try it, don't you think?"
The madam thought for a moment, a contemptuous smile playing on her lips. "What you say makes sense, but this is all I can give you."
“I don’t do business at a loss. She’s getting on in years, and even if someone wants her, she can’t take many customers a day.”
The madam then placed two taels of silver into Guo Bingwen's hand.
When Kwok Ping-man tried to bargain further, the madam immediately said, "If these aren't enough, then I'm not doing this business."
"Alright, alright!" Kwok Ping-man immediately gripped the silver in his hand. "The person is over there, I'll take you there."
The madam beckoned two burly men, and the group went into the alley.
The old lady was dozing in the corner, clutching her bundle. When she saw Kwok Ping-man, she immediately stood up, leaning against the wall. "My son, have you found something to eat?"
"Who are they?"
The old lady saw a heavily made-up woman and two burly men behind Guo Bingwen and instinctively clenched the bundle in her hand, thinking it was a robbery.
