Chapter 26 Jiang Shuyi, biting
Pei Yan had no choice but to hold her head with his left hand, lowering his head and gently scolding her: "Don't treat matters of life and death as a joke, and don't rub against me."
He had just bathed, and there was a light vapor on his body, carrying the scent of ambergris on his clothes.
Jiang Shuyi glanced up at Pei Yan and saw that although his expression was calm, his eyes were slightly deep. She opened her mouth and took the green dragon jade pendant on his waist, looking at him with smiling eyes.
She had just accepted the favor, the rouge on the corners of her eyes had not yet faded, her fair skin was as soft as mutton-fat jade under the candlelight, her cherry lips were slightly parted, and her two pearly teeth were biting on the jade relief of the dragon.
There was no sign of remorse in her eyes. It was obvious that she was taking advantage of the favor she received and was showing off her power to the king who indulged her.
Unfortunately, Pei Yan is not succumbed to beauty.
He reached out, pinched Jiang Shuyi's cheek, took the jade pendant out of her mouth, lowered his eyes and asked, "Do you like to bite it?"
Jiang Shuyi's face was pinched, like a cat being lifted up by the scruff of the neck, losing the right to jump around. Her momentum suddenly weakened, and she quickly shook her head: "I don't like it!"
Wouldn’t that annoy Pei Yan again?
"I think you like it." Pei Yan said calmly, letting go of her jaw and ordered: "Take off the jade pendant, bite it, and wait on the bed. When I finish dealing with these memorials, you can let go."
Jiang Shuyi felt a chill in her heart. It was over. It seemed that she had really pissed off Pei Yan.
She is trying to win favor today, so how can she lose the rice while trying to steal the chicken?
Jiang Shuyi quickly straightened her upper body, grabbed his wide sleeves and shook them, trying to act coquettishly: "I don't want to leave your Majesty, can I bite you in your arms?"
Pei Yan's attitude was unquestionable: "It's because you were too noisy that I punished you like this."
Oh, she's so noisy.
Jiang Shuyi felt a little aggrieved. What should she do if she didn't make a scene? Cheng Lu said that she couldn't hide away and feel jealous and resentful. She had to let Pei Yan know how much she loved him.
As a result, her deep love was too noisy.
Jiang Shuyi was being stared at quietly by Pei Yan. She knew that this was serious, so she dared not say anything. She endured the grievance and reached out to untie the jade pendant from his waist.
She felt that she had made a lot of progress.
A few days ago, she would definitely think of Pei Yan in her previous life, feel sad and cry because things have changed. But Wen Yao has been favored for a few days, and her tears are almost dry. She also deeply understands that it is useless to be hypocritical, so it is better to fight for favor.
Jiang Shuyi took a deep breath, carefully took off the jade pendant, looked up at Pei Yan pitifully, and finally begged for mercy: "I will not make trouble anymore..."
Pei Yan said "hmm", and then continued to gently command: "Bite it."
Jiang Shuyi had no choice but to pick up the jade pendant, open her red lips, and bite the hard object.
Pei Yan stared at her sparkling eyes and her lips for a while before he pointed behind the screen and urged her calmly, "Go and wait."
Jiang Shuyi was unable to utter a word and could only respond vaguely from her throat. She then stood up dejectedly, walked around the six-curved screen with a red lacquer painting of a hundred birds, and went to the bed.
The hall finally quieted down. Pei Yan withdrew his gaze, took a sip of the cold tea at hand, and picked up the memorial again to read it.
He was really delayed a lot today.
He knew from the beginning that Jiang Shuyi was pretending to be sick, but Pei Yan came anyway out of pity for her being neglected by him these days. He wanted to leave after comforting her, but she held him and cried for a whole hour, as if she had suffered a great injustice. She would not let go even if she was beaten to death, and only asked him to stay with her for one day.
Pei Yan softened his heart and decided to stay with her, and even asked the palace servants to send all the memorials from today here for processing.
However, Jiang Shuyi kept pestering him, making him uneasy. He didn't approve many memorials the whole day, but he asked the eunuchs outside who were responsible for recording the emperor's daily life to write frequently.
Pei Yan has been strict with himself since he was young. He can indulge himself within a certain limit, but government affairs cannot be neglected. This was the last time, and he should not and could not allow Jiang Shuyi to continue making trouble.
For a moment, the only sounds in the hall were the flipping of memorials and the rustling of the imperial pen dipped in cinnabar falling on paper.
After reviewing the last memorial, Pei Yan glanced at the clepsydra in the corner and saw that it was already two o'clock in the morning.
He did not call the palace servants in to serve him. He took off his outer robe, hung it on the wooden plank, and walked around the screen to the bed.
Because of the prank during the day, the curtain embroidered with peony flowers was now half-dropped. Pei Yan saw Jiang Shuyi's legs lying on her side and knew that she had fallen asleep.
This was expected. I didn't expect her to listen to me much.
Pei Yan lifted the curtain and was caught off guard by Jiang Shuyi's wide-open almond-shaped eyes.
He paused slightly.
Jiang Shuyi was still holding the green jade pendant in her mouth. She was originally lying down, but the moment she saw him, her eyes suddenly lit up. She whimpered twice, then reached out her hand to grab the corner of his clothes, and then used the force to sit up.
Pei Yan didn't say anything for a while. Jiang Shuyi seemed to be unable to hold back and wanted to say something, but the jade pendant fell out accidentally, first hitting the side of the bed and then falling to the ground, making a crisp jade sound.
She cried out "Ah" in great sorrow and immediately wanted to bend down to pick it up.
Pei Yan held her shoulders to stop her movements.
He looked down at Jiang Shuyi, his voice slightly deep: "Haven't you had enough yet?"
The jade pendant was neither too thick nor too thin. Jiang Shuyi bit it for an unknown amount of time. Her cheeks and gums were sore. She rubbed them with her hands and looked up at Pei Yan with some sadness: "I didn't mean to do that. I just couldn't hold it anymore and it fell off..."
"Are you afraid of me?"
Pei Yan's incoherent question made Jiang Shuyi stunned. She really thought about it carefully. Although she was sometimes intimidated by Pei Yan's imperial majesty, it was just like when she was a child and pestered her aunt and made her aunt angry and wanted to beat her, she would also be timid. This does not mean that she is afraid of her aunt. After being taught a lesson, she still likes her and depends on her very much.
She treated Pei Yan the same way.
"Don't be afraid, I like your majesty."
Jiang Shuyi's eyes were clear and the corners of her lips were slightly raised, as if she was happy to think about the fact that she liked Pei Yan.
Pei Yan stared at her for a few moments before he gently withdrew his gaze, sat down at the end of the bed, tapped his knees, and told Jiang Shuyi to lie on top of him.
Jiang Shuyi did as she was told obediently.
Pei Yan's expression eased a lot. He lowered his eyes, took off the big hairpin that was irritating her head, put it aside, and then stretched out his hand to rub her cheek, neither too lightly nor too heavily: "I also think you are not afraid. You have committed the crime of deceiving the emperor countless times."
His palms were large enough to knead both sides of Jiang Shuyi's cheeks, relieving her pain very well.
While kneading, he taught her a lesson unhappily.
"If you get tired of biting it, just spit it out. Will I punish you?"
Jiang Shuyi felt warm in her heart after hearing these words, and her face felt comfortable after being rubbed. She looked at Pei Yan with eyes filled with affection unconsciously, and said with a smile: "I am not afraid of punishment, but I am afraid that Your Majesty will ignore me and no longer accompany me."
Pei Yan said nothing, but just rubbed her quietly.
Jiang Shuyi rubbed his palm again, happily taking credit: "Your Majesty, look, I am still sensible and obedient. I bit it as long as Your Majesty asked me to. Oh, although it fell off just now, Your Majesty has already handled government affairs, so I did not violate the imperial edict."
Pei Yan paused, his hands slowed down, and finally stopped. He lowered his eyes to look at her and asked, "Does my love for Concubine Wen make you so sad and confused?"
Jiang Shuyi was stunned for a moment, her eyelashes trembling slightly.
She didn't want to cry, but in this situation, Pei Yan suddenly mentioned another favorite concubine. Jiang Shuyi still couldn't help crying. She still had a smile on her face, but her eyes were already red.
Pei Yan sighed softly upon seeing this.
"Jiang Shuyi, you are the only one I love the most."
He leaned forward slightly, his eyes seemed to be stained by the night, deep and twinkling with starlight, and his voice was as light as the evening breeze: "She is not worth half of you, don't worry about someone who is not worth mentioning anymore, remember?"
