Chapter 8 I had a dream
Pei Yan called the imperial physician to Jiang Shuyi.
In the bedroom, the imperial physician knelt on the ground to feel Jiang Shuyi's pulse, Pei Yan stood outside the screen, and the palace maids knelt on the ground.
"Your Highness was not acting right when she woke up this morning. She scolded me for no reason. This has never happened before! Later, on the way to Kunning Palace, she suddenly got off the sedan chair and ran away. And! Your Highness and Concubine Jiang have always had a deep sisterly relationship. Since the selection of concubines, they have started to prepare a palace for Concubine Jiang. But today, she suddenly turned against her and wanted to drive Concubine Jiang to live in another palace! Oh, by the way, she made the little prince cry just now. The little prince was very scared. I don’t know if he is okay now. Does Your Majesty want to go and see him?"
Jinzhu finished her report before Yuzhu did. Cheng Shouzhong glanced at the cold-faced Majesty and immediately turned back to scold her: "You have no ears! Your Majesty is asking why the queen is uneasy. What the hell is this long list of nonsense!"
Jinzhu shrank her neck in fear, a little aggrieved: "This, I really don't know..."
After all, she was a palace maid beside Concubine Jiang, so Cheng Shouzhong could not curse her any more harshly. Just as he was about to ask other palace maids, His Majesty had already walked towards the inner chamber.
Imperial Physician Wang had just put away his pulse pillow when he saw the Emperor coming. He quickly bowed and reported, "Your Majesty, Concubine Jiang is in good health. Apart from a little excessive heat in her heart, she has no other symptoms."
Pei Yan nodded slightly and told him to leave in a calm voice.
Jiang Shuyi sat on the bed, looking at Pei Yan cautiously, feeling a little nervous.
She really didn't expect that after she said those words, Pei Yan would think that she was mentally ill, and would push her away without saying anything and call the imperial physician for treatment.
She heard everything Jinzhu said outside. Would Pei Yan notice anything? How should she explain...
After Doctor Wang packed up his medicine box and left, Pei Yan turned to look at Jiang Shuyi, catching her peeking at him.
The moment they looked at each other, Jiang Shuyi lowered her head in panic, tightly grasping the silk material of the quilt cover in her hands.
Guilt was almost written on his face.
Pei Yan's eyes flashed with some doubt. He looked at her for a while before walking over and sitting down beside the bed. He took her hand into his palm and gently kneaded it twice: "Jiang Fei, what happened to you today?"
His action was soothing, and his tone was as gentle as a stream soaked by the warm spring sun. Jiang Shuyi's tense nerves unconsciously relaxed.
She looked down at Pei Yan's slender jade-white hand, her eyelashes trembling twice, and whispered softly: "Your Majesty, do you still remember the nightmare I had last night?"
Pei Yan didn't sleep well last night because of this, so how could he forget it? He smiled and said, "Of course I remember."
Jiang Shuyi continued, "Last night I dreamed that my sister had evil intentions towards me after she entered the palace. Yu'er also grew up to be an ungrateful person who could not tell right from wrong and helped her aunt to anger me. In my dream, I became irritable and irritable, and I was completely different from myself. As a result, I was deserted by everyone. In the end, only Your Majesty did not abandon me and was willing to lead me on the right path. However, I still died at the hands of my own sister because I did not listen to Your Majesty..."
Pei Yan remained silent.
These words are indeed consistent with her sleep talk last night.
But it was just a dream. Could it make her hate her own children and her sister?
"That dream was so real."
Jiang Shuyi's voice was a little choked, and she looked at him with tears in her eyes: "After I woke up, I couldn't forget it for a long time. I thought that maybe it was God's guidance, telling me to stay away from these two people. So, Your Majesty, I don't want to treat them as relatives anymore, okay?"
Her eyes were full of dependence and pleading towards Pei Yan, as if as long as Pei Yan agreed, she would sever all ties with him and only have him in her heart.
But will it really happen?
Pei Yan could sense that since Pei Yu was born, her admiration and reliance on him had diminished a lot, and her heart was almost entirely devoted to the child.
He didn't think there was anything wrong with this, as all women who became mothers were like this. But occasionally when he had some free time, he would still miss the innocent look of Jiang Shuyi sticking to him when she didn't have any children.
No matter how much you miss it, you can never go back.
Right now, Jiang Shuyi must have just temporarily recovered from the fear brought by the nightmare. After a few days, when she has completely forgotten about the dream, she will still devote herself to her son wholeheartedly.
When Pei Yan thought of this, he felt a little unhappy, but it only lasted for a moment.
"Don't be afraid, it's just a dream."
Pei Yan did not answer her, but comforted her in a gentle tone: "If you are sad about this, don't see Yu'er and Concubine Jiang for the next few days, and don't go to the morning meeting. I will help you report your illness to the Queen."
Jiang Shuyi breathed a sigh of relief.
She was really afraid that Pei Yan would force her to love her son now.
Fortunately, Pei Yan is still the same Pei Yan. Even ten years ago, he treated her very well.
Jiang Shuyi hesitated for a while, looked at Pei Yan with tears in her eyes, and asked pitifully: "How many days will it take?"
She didn't like going to morning meetings every day. Even though she could show off, things that happened at a fixed time and place always made people feel restrained.
Especially after just returning from rebirth, my mind is very confused.
Pei Yan didn't know if he could see through her thoughts, so he chuckled and asked, "How many days do you want to sue?"
Jiang Shuyi probed: "Is one year okay?"
"One year?" Pei Yan was slightly surprised. Seeing that Jiang Shuyi also looked guilty because she knew she was being ridiculous, he softened his expression and asked softly, "Do you think it's okay?"
Jiang Shuyi knew it was not possible.
She groaned in grievance: "Well, how about half a year?"
Pei Yan felt pity for her unconsciously when he saw her so delicate and charming.
"I'll give you three days to calm down."
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Shuyi's almond-shaped eyes were immediately filled with great loss, and then tears welled up in her eyes, and she was about to cry.
Pei Yan had no choice but to sit next to Jiang Shuyi and hug her in his arms: "It's fine if you're making trouble, but I'm the emperor and father of the world, do I have to make trouble with you? The daily morning meeting of the six palaces is a rule left by our ancestors. If you feel bored, you can go for two days and be sick for one day. But if you don't go for a long time, I still allow it. It's too indecent and will damage my reputation."
Jiang Shuyi snuggled in his arms, feeling somewhat complicated.
She knew that Pei Yan cared a lot about being a wise ruler. Since he ascended the throne, he had been diligent and receptive to advice. He had never slacked off in matters of state and people's livelihood, and was extremely filial to the empress dowager.
But even so, I was still implicated by myself in my previous life.
After Jiang Shuyi's cruel deeds to harm the concubines were exposed one by one, because Pei Yan insisted on protecting her, Concubine Jin's father was desperate and died in front of the Meridian Gate while wearing the golden armor bestowed by the emperor. For a time, the military officers were outraged, and the father and brother of Concubine Wu and Concubine Shu led them to jointly appeal with some upright civil officials, demanding the execution of the evil concubine.
Of course, Jiang Shuyi was still alive and well, still living a life of luxury in Zhaoyang Palace, with servants at her disposal. She had no idea how the matter ended. Pei Yan did not tell her, nor did he allow the palace servants to reveal it to her.
But no matter what means he used to suppress it, it would still be recorded in history books, and he would not be able to become a flawless sage king.
When Jiang Shuyi thought of this, she couldn't bear to force herself on him. She held back her tears, sniffed, and nestled in his chest obediently: "Okay, I'll listen to your majesty."
