"Also, prepare some hawthorn balls."
The nanny looked suspicious, but with Pei Siyu's tacit approval, she still prepared the medicine and hawthorn as Mingyao requested.
Mingyao stirred the medicine until it cooled down, then placed the bowl on the table.
The old man stared intently at Mingyao, his brows furrowed into a deep frown.
What do you want to do?
Mingyao smiled and said, "Grandpa, you need to take your medicine properly to get better."
"I'll give you your medicine."
The old man turned his head to the side and said arrogantly, "I'm not taking medicine."
"Don't even think about making me take the medicine."
Mingyao sat on the edge of the bed with a smile and handed the hawthorn balls to the old man.
"Even if you don't take medicine, you should at least eat some hawthorn."
"Hawthorn is sweet and sour, not bad, and can even stimulate the appetite."
The old man stared at Mingyao suspiciously, then tentatively took a bite of the hawthorn.
The hawthorns were very sour, and his brows furrowed deeply.
Mingyao then served the medicine, and the old man drank the whole bowl of it.
Mingyao's movements were swift and decisive, leaving the nanny and Pei Siyu in awe.
Before the old man could react, Mingyao took out some red dates and handed them to him.
"Once you eat it, the bitterness in your mouth will disappear."
After the old man ate the jujubes, he could no longer taste the medicine in his mouth.
He breathed a sigh of relief and realized that he hadn't actually vomited up the medicine.
That's absolutely incredible!
"Grandpa, how are you feeling?"
The old man cleared his throat and hummed in agreement: "I don't feel as nauseous anymore."
Why are you feeding me medicine like this?
A bitter smile appeared on Mingyao's face: "My mother is in poor health and is often sick."
"She is just like her grandfather, and she strongly resists taking medicine."
"In order to get my mom to take her medicine, I came up with this method, and it has worked every time."
After saying that, Mingyao looked at the nanny and said, "Auntie, could you please go and make some food?"
"Grandpa will be hungry soon."
Before the nanny could turn around, the old man said with a sour face, "I'm not eating, I'm already tired of it."
"You do it."
He pointed at Mingyao.
Mingyao was stunned for a moment, then looked at the old man with a puzzled expression.
Are you sure you want me to do this?
The old man retorted indignantly, "What do you mean?"
"I'm an old man, and you won't even cook for me?"
"How could I not be willing?"
Mingyao smiled broadly: "As long as you don't mind, I can make whatever you want to eat."
Mingyao followed the nanny into the kitchen, rolled up her sleeves, and skillfully began picking and washing the vegetables.
The old man is still ill and cannot eat oily or salty food; he mainly eats vegetables and light meals.
While Mingyao was preparing the ingredients, the nanny frequently came in to help.
Mingyao repeatedly emphasized that she didn't need her help, but the nanny was still worried.
Once or twice was fine, but after it happened many times, Mingyao felt that things were not so simple.
She deliberately placed her phone in a flowerpot in the kitchen, which allowed her to record everything that happened in the kitchen.
She cooked the vegetables, put the vegetable porridge on the stove, and left the kitchen at the set time.
The nanny was waiting in the living room. Mingyao made a point of exchanging glances with her before going upstairs to find Pei Siyu.
No sooner had Mingyao left than the nanny slipped into the kitchen.
"husband."
She looked around warily, and after making sure no one was around, she said worriedly, "I suspect there's something wrong with the nanny."
Pei Siyu frowned: "Are you sure?"
"She has been serving the old man for at least twenty years."
Mingyao nodded: "While I was cooking, she entered the kitchen several times under different pretexts."
"Just as I went upstairs, she took the opportunity to go into the kitchen."
"I'm having doubts now too."
Pei Siyu's gaze darkened. "Without evidence, it's slander."
"I hid my phone in the flowerpot beforehand."
Once the vegetable porridge was cooked, Mingyao ladled it out and wanted to feed the old man herself.
While the nanny was cleaning up the kitchen, Mingyao took out the video and watched it with Pei Siyu.
At first, the nanny was indeed helping in the kitchen. While Mingyao was chopping vegetables, she hurriedly poured something into the porridge.
When Mingyao turned around, she pretended to stir the porridge, as if nothing had happened.
Pei Siyu's face darkened visibly.
I never expected the old man to have such a thing hidden by his side!
The old man's illness came on strangely; it might be related to the caregiver.
"Honey, what do we do next?"
"I'll go buy some more porridge now, you can bring the rice over later."
"good."
Five minutes later, Zhang Peng returned carrying a black bag containing vegetable porridge, stir-fried romaine lettuce, and bitter melon with eggs.
Mingyao arrived late, carrying congee and vegetables. The old man complained, "The housekeeper said you prepared it a long time ago, why are you only bringing it now!"
He stared intently at Mingyao and asked warily, "You didn't secretly put something in the porridge, did you?"
The nanny calmly spoke well of Mingyao.
"Old man, you can't say that."
"How could President Pei, who is so filial, tolerate Miss Su putting something in there?"
Mingyao nodded in agreement: "Grandpa, you're thinking too badly of me!"
"How could I possibly put anything there?"
"I delivered it late because it was too hot. I made sure to find a well-ventilated place and wait for it to warm up before delivering it."
The old man looked at him with suspicion: "Really?"
"Truly true."
Mingyao brought the vegetable porridge to the old man's lips and said with a smile, "Here, have a taste."
