Chapter 272 How Could It Be Him?

How could it be him?

The winter sun was soft, casting a pale yellow halo on his face.

The man was handsome, wearing metal-framed glasses, with fair skin and faintly visible bluish-purple veins.

As the man raised his eyes, Mingyao immediately covered her head and turned away.

Her heart was pounding and her mind went blank.

We're doomed! We're doomed!

Mingyao hurriedly put down the documents and turned to run away.

I should have asked Professor Su for his name, the history professor.

If she had known that the professor was Ning Xun, she would never have appeared here!

Ning Xun pushed up his glasses, his gaze deep as he looked at Ming Yao's retreating figure.

"Junior Yao Yao, it's been a long time."

Mingyao felt a sense of foreboding; what she feared most was exactly what was coming to pass.

She naively thought that Ning Xun hadn't seen her face!

Mingyao took a deep breath, not stopping, wanting only to leave the office as soon as possible.

Suddenly, her wrist was enveloped in a layer of warmth, and Mingyao's heartbeat stopped abruptly.

"Junior Sister Yao Yao, why are you avoiding me?"

Mingyao felt a chill run down her spine, and she even felt like crying.

"Junior Sister Yao Yao, do you hate me now?"

Ning Xun's voice carried a hint of bitterness, sounding quite hurt.

Mingyao couldn't bear it, so she turned around, forced a smile, and said, "Mr. Ning, you've mistaken me for someone else."

"My name is Su Xueya."

"It's not the Yao Yao you're talking about."

Ning Xun stared blankly at Ming Yao's face, then said with absolute certainty, "You are Yao Yao!"

Even though I haven't seen you for so many years, I can still recognize you at a glance.

Mingyao explained weakly, "Mr. Ning, I am Mingyao's older sister, Su Xueya. You have really mistaken me for someone else."

“We are twin sisters, so it’s understandable that you’ve mistaken me for someone else.”

Mingyao chuckled dryly as she pulled her hand away from Ning Xun's.

Ning Xun's gaze sharpened as he stared intently at Ming Yao, seemingly unable to believe it.

"Are you really not Yao Yao?"

She looks exactly like Mingyao from my memory, and her demeanor and expressions are also similar. How could they be two different people?

Mingyao felt guilty and dared not look Ning Xun in the eye.

Ning Xun was her best senior in college. He was two years her senior and a genius in their history department.

When she graduated, Ning Xun was still studying abroad.

To my surprise, when we met again, Ning Xun was already a history professor.

The thought of her still struggling to break free from Su Qiqiang's control filled Mingyao with bitterness.

She snapped out of her reverie, looked at Ning Xun with a smile, and got straight to the point.

"Professor Ning, let's get to know each other again."

"My name is Su Xueya. I'm really sorry to have entered your office without your permission."

"I only did it because I saw these documents flying around randomly."

Ning Xun snapped out of his thoughts and said calmly, "Thank you, Miss Su."

He looked at Mingyao, feeling a lump in his throat. After regaining his composure, he expressed his gratitude once again.

"It's my fault for being careless; I forgot to close the window when I went out for a meeting."

The conversation returned to normal, and Mingyao explained why she had come.

"I'm currently working at the Haichang branch. I wonder if Professor Ning has heard of the science and technology exhibition."

Ning Xun nodded: "The old man has already told me."

"Haichang branch is developing robots to participate in technology exhibitions, and I am very interested in this project."

"I can consider cooperation."

Ning Xun didn't beat around the bush and stated his attitude directly.

He stared intently at Mingyao, as if trying to see through her face to the charming and bright girl from his memories.

From the very beginning, his initial motivation for joining Suhe Culture Company was Mingyao.

After Mingyao graduated, he went abroad.

When he returned to China, Mingyao seemed to have vanished into thin air, and there was no news of her anywhere.

In order to find Mingyao more quickly, Ning Xun came to Suhe Culture Company.

While working as a cultural consultant at Suhe Culture Company, he also searched for Mingyao's whereabouts.

He had heard about Su Xueya, but had no news of Ming Yao.

Just when Ning Xun was feeling disheartened, he learned that Su Xueya and Pei Siyu had arrived in Qingcheng.

Mingyao's eyes sparkled as she said, "I didn't expect Professor Ning to be so direct. It's perfect."

Ning Xun curled his palms and said with a wry smile, "Miss Su, your sister Mingyao and I are studying at the same university."

"I haven't heard from her since she graduated."

"Miss Su, could you tell me what she is doing and where she is right now?"

Seeing Ning Xun's dejected look, Ming Yao felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.

The Mingyao he was looking for was right in front of him, but unfortunately he couldn't admit it.

Mingyao nodded; "My sister lives in Qingcheng."

"You should be at home now."

"When I get back, I will tell my sister about meeting Professor Ning."

"My sister will be very happy."

Ning Xun breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank you, Miss Su."

At this moment, Grandpa Su arrived with Pei Siyu.

Grandpa Su looked at Ning Xun and Ming Yao with a smile, "How was your chat?"

Mingyao affectionately linked arms with Grandpa Su and said sweetly, "We had a very pleasant chat."

"Professor Ning has also agreed to cooperate."

"But why didn't you tell me beforehand that Professor Ning was my sister's senior in college?"

Grandpa Su apologized: "I was in a hurry to talk to Xiao Pei about the cooperation, and I forgot to tell you about such an important matter."

"Professor Ning, if you have time, why don't you come with us to the Su family later?"

"I'd like to invite you to have a meal at my house."

Ning Xun was just wondering what reason to give to see Ming Yao when he heard what Grandpa Su said, so he immediately nodded in agreement.
