Wang Nana was furious.
Mingyao did nothing, yet she still won Jiang Rongrong's favor.
And her?
It took a tremendous amount of effort to get close to Jiang Rongrong.
Wang Nana grew angrier the more she thought about it, but she shouldn't show it on her face.
As dusk settled, Wang Zhouheng drove Mingyao to the Wang family's villa.
Ring ring—
The quiet carriage was broken by the sudden ringing of a cell phone.
Wang Zhouheng pressed the answer button and replied while driving, "Sis, we're almost there."
Immediately afterward, Wang Zhouheng raised his voice a few decibels and asked, "What?"
He slammed on the brakes, and Mingyao, caught off guard, fell forward due to inertia.
Mingyao rubbed her forehead and looked at Wang Zhouheng with a puzzled expression.
At this moment, Wang Zhouheng's face no longer held its usual gentle and refined demeanor; instead, it was filled with panic and fear.
Mingyao's heart skipped a beat; she had a premonition that something bad had happened.
"Sis, send me the address, I'll be right there!"
After hanging up the phone, Wang Zhouheng said in a panic, "Ms. Su, I'm sorry, my brother has been kidnapped."
"I'm going to drive to the location the criminals arranged to meet now."
"Let me put you down first, then you can take a taxi home."
As Wang Zhouheng explained, his face was full of shame, "I'm sorry, the situation was really urgent, so I had to leave you behind halfway."
Mingyao gasped, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Kidnapped?"
Since Wang Xingchen had an accident, she couldn't get off the bus and go home.
Mingyao tightened her seatbelt, her expression becoming more serious, and said in a deep voice, "I'll go with you. The more people there are, the more helpers there will be."
Wang Zhouheng paused slightly, then hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.
Mingyao didn't want to waste time and urged, "Time is life, let's go quickly."
Wang Zhouheng nodded, floored the accelerator, and turned around to drive west of Haidu.
Unlike the bustling and high-rise buildings of the east, the western part of Haidu is mostly factories and wasteland.
The criminals were clever to choose the western suburbs.
Along the way, Wang Zhouheng kept speeding and running red lights.
The half-hour journey has been halved.
Mingyao and Wang Zhouheng got out of the car. Fifty meters away from them was an abandoned factory.
Now it was completely dark, and under the cover of night, the dilapidated and empty abandoned factory looked like a monster with a gaping maw that would devour people.
Wang Zhouheng clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and turned to Mingyao, "Miss Su, this matter has nothing to do with you."
"If you're scared, wait in the car."
Mingyao was scared, but not to the point of hiding in the car like a coward.
She said with a serious expression, "I'm not afraid. Let's hurry and save Wang Xingchen."
The factory was large and quiet all around. Apart from the soft footsteps of the two people and the thumping of their hearts, there was no other sound.
Just a few minutes after the two went inside, the sound of a car stopping outside the factory came again.
Mingyao's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively dodged.
Wang Zhouheng turned around and looked at the extra figure that had appeared at the factory entrance.
"He's my brother-in-law, don't be afraid."
Mr. Wang pulled his suitcase and walked over in a flustered manner.
Boss Wang was so focused on walking that he didn't notice Wang Zhouheng and Mingyao at all.
"Brother-in-law."
Wang Zhouheng suddenly greeted Boss Wang, who was startled and jumped in surprise.
He belatedly looked at Wang Zhouheng and Mingyao, and patted his chest with lingering fear.
"It's the two of you."
"Why are you here?"
Wang Zhouheng said, "My sister called me and asked me to come."
Mr. Wang frowned and growled, "This is utter nonsense!"
"The thugs only told me to bring money. If they find anyone else there, they might kill me to cover it up!"
Mr. Wang's voice trembled as he said this, which showed how scared he was.
Wang Xingchen is his only son, and he and Wang Lina have everything.
If something happens to Wang Xingchen, he doesn't want to live anymore!
Boss Wang is now focused on saving Wang Xingchen and is looking at Wang Zhouheng and Mingyao with great anticipation.
"Brother-in-law, I'm begging you."
"Let me go up myself. You and Su Xueya must not show yourselves."
Wang Zhouheng frowned, looking worried, and said, "Brother-in-law, it's too dangerous...we should..."
"I had no choice; they were after me!"
"Alright, enough talk, I'm going to see the criminals right away!"
Mr. Wang pulled his suitcase and hurried forward, afraid of wasting time.
Wang Zhouheng and Mingyao were also worried about Wang Xingchen's safety, but making the two of them stand here waiting was simply torture!
"No, I have to go and check on the situation too."
Just as Wang Zhouheng was about to walk forward, Mingyao grabbed her wrist and said in a deep voice, "Calm down first."
"We can't act so impulsively."
"If we're going to take action, we need to find a way to rescue Wang Xingchen."
The whole "buy money to ransom" thing is just a criminal's trick.
They are highly likely to kill them to cover their tracks after receiving the money.
Since Boss Wang wouldn't let them follow, they had to find another way to rescue Wang Xingchen.
Mingyao's words calmed Wang Zhouheng down. He nodded, "Yes, I shouldn't have acted impulsively."
Mingyao gestured for Wang Zhouheng to be quiet and to listen carefully to the sounds.
Mr. Wang had already gone up to the second floor, and a faint light had appeared on the top floor.
A flash of light appeared, and Mingyao pulled Wang Zhouheng to find cover. In a voice only the two of them could hear, she said, "The criminals are on the top floor. Let's split up."
"I'll send you the factory map."
When Mingyao saw the factory, she searched for a topographical map online.
