Chapter 266 Grandpa Xu

"Your Majesty, why don't you write a letter back and have the Grand Tutor give it to the Empress Dowager and read it to her? She has overstepped her authority and cannot be let off easily, Your Majesty."

Mo Beichen looked at the two of them and frowned. "I heard that the Empress Dowager has been trying to win over Prime Minister Mu?"

Mo Feng nodded and replied, "That's right. The Empress Dowager sent a letter to Prime Minister Mu, hoping that he would support her ruling from behind the curtain. Prime Minister Mu handed the Empress Dowager's letter to the Grand Tutor unopened."

Later, when the Empress Dowager received no reply, she realized she had been tricked by Prime Minister Mu. She then issued an imperial edict summoning the fifth young lady of the Mu family to the palace to accompany her for a few days. Fortunately, her spies informed the Grand Tutor in time, thus saving the fifth young lady from disaster.

Mo Beichen nodded. "No news from the gold mine?"

Before leaving, he specifically instructed them not to alert the enemy and to keep a close watch in secret, as the Northern Moon Kingdom and the Eastern Martial Kingdom should not be without activity.

Mo Feng glanced at Mo Yu, who helplessly shrugged. Mo Beichen glanced at them, and the two immediately resumed their serious expressions.

"Your Majesty, our people are indeed hidden in the shadows at the gold mine, but the Empress has also sent people to guard it, so the people from Beiyue Kingdom and Dongwu Kingdom have no chance to get close to the gold mine at all."

“Yes, but there are indeed people from two other countries watching us closely. I’m afraid they will seize the opportunity to act as soon as there is any commotion in the capital,” Mo Yu added.

Mo Beichen got up, walked to the window, and looked at the night outside.

"Then don't give them any opportunities. There can't be any internal strife in the capital. Send a message to Imperial Censor Han, telling him that the fish is about to take the bait and to be prepared."

Upon hearing this, Mo Feng and Mo Yu's faces flashed with surprise.

"Also, tell the Grand Tutor that several more renowned physicians can be invited to treat Miss Mu. She must not leave the Mu residence until she is fully recovered." Mo Beichen's words were tantamount to declaring war on the Empress Dowager, although they hadn't declared war on her many times.

"Should we get rid of those spies in the capital?" Mo Feng asked seriously.

Mo Beichen replied, "Clean them out, replace them with our own people, and deliver a fatal blow if necessary."

"Yes, Your Majesty, this is to deliver the message," Mo Feng replied.

Mo Beichen gazed at the bright moon outside the window, his eyes deep and unfocused, lost in thought.

Mudu Town, Medical Clinic.

"Dr. Xu, is it really possible for my grandson to get better?" Old Man Cheng looked anxiously at his grandson and then at Dr. Xu, who was preparing the medicine.

"Don't worry, that lady was indeed a disciple of the Divine Doctor Valley, and that medicine was a priceless life-saving elixir. Your grandson will be as lively and energetic as any other child in less than three months," Doctor Xu replied carefully.

Doctor Xu felt a pang of sadness. It was true that comparisons were odious. He, an elderly man in his seventies who had spent his entire life learning medicine, was no match for a young girl who was not yet twenty.

Learning has no end...

Hearing this, Old Man Cheng felt a little relieved, but he was still very anxious because his grandson had not yet woken up.

"Dr. Xu, please be magnanimous. I was forced into this situation. Heaven knows I was terrified when I saw my grandson vomiting blood. I apologize for the negative impact this has had on you," Old Man Cheng said, standing to the side with some guilt.

Dr. Xu waved his hand dismissively, his face gentle. "As long as the child is alright, that's all that matters. It's my fault for being careless. If I had been more careful or brought the medicine earlier, perhaps none of this would have happened..."

As he spoke, he turned and went into the inner hall. Old Man Cheng was puzzled as to why he had suddenly left when they had been chatting so well.

A short while later, Doctor Xu led a man out; this man was the one who had caused his son to vomit blood.

Old Man Cheng didn't give him a friendly look.

Dr. Xu glanced at Old Man Cheng, then turned back and scolded, "The person you should apologize to isn't me. That child still hasn't woken up. How could you be so heartless to such a young child?"

The servant was momentarily stunned when he heard that the apology was to a child.

It's somewhat inappropriate for a grown man to apologize to a child.

"If you want to continue following me, you'd better rein in your anger and bad habits. Otherwise, I will no longer accept you here," Doctor Xu said sternly.

Upon hearing Doctor Xu's words, the attendant realized that Doctor Xu was indeed angry, and for a moment dared not utter another word.

“But, Doctor Xu, he hasn’t woken up yet. I’ll apologize to him in person when he does,” the attendant added.

Doctor Xu glanced at the child and nodded helplessly. "Remember, I'll ask them about it later. If you don't do it, this clinic is too small to accommodate someone as important as you."

The servant panicked immediately. "Doctor Xu, I admit my mistake. It's my fault. Please don't send me away. I have nowhere to go."

Doctor Xu sneered, "I tell you all this every day, but you just let it go in one ear and out the other, always ignoring what I say. Now that something's happened, you're all panicking."

"Dr. Xu, I..." Before the attendant could finish speaking, Dr. Xu interrupted him, "Alright, go and attend to the patients. Don't just stand here."

Old Man Cheng felt a little embarrassed to stay any longer. He originally wanted to carry the child home, but Doctor Xu stopped him.

"Sleep here tonight, so you can contact me immediately if the children have any problems during the night."

Old Man Cheng was so grateful that he decided to stay.

That night, the child woke up.

"Grandpa Xu, didn't you go to the mountains to collect herbs? Why are you back so soon?" When little Cheng Xuan saw Doctor Xu, he immediately shrank back, but his eyes were filled with excitement.

"Yes, Grandpa Xu rushed back as soon as he heard Cheng Xuan calling him." Doctor Xu put down his medical book and came to Cheng Xuan's bedside.

Cheng Xuan chuckled, "Grandpa Xu, don't lie to me. By the way, did Grandpa Xu save me? I remember there was an angel sister who kept telling me to relax and that I wouldn't worry, that everything would get better."

Doctor Xu patted Cheng Xuan's head. "Good child, the one who saved you was the Empress."

Cheng Xuan immediately exclaimed excitedly, "What? The Empress? It was actually Her Majesty the Empress who saved me! I was wondering why I didn't feel any pain at all. I took a nap and now I feel a bit better, but I remember I vomited blood. How terrifying!" Cheng Xuan added.

Old Man Cheng interjected, "Hey, brat, don't get so excited. Quickly take your foot down. We were lucky enough to run into the Empress this time, who cured your illness. We must remember this kindness and repay her in the future."
