“Call me brother, and come over here yourself, and I’ll give you something to eat,” Zeyan said maturely, but his voice sounded incredibly childish.
"Aba aba, yes, geigei~"
"Call me brother!"
"Brother~"
Yun Qingluo couldn't help but laugh out loud.
The two little ones then looked over at Yun Qingluo. Ze Yan's eyes lit up, and he handed the watermelon rind in his hand to the palace maid next to him. He stood up and ran towards Yun Qingluo with his short legs.
“Mother!” Zeyan called out happily, his face beaming with joy.
Yun Qingluo responded cheerfully, then squatted down to catch Ze Yan. Unexpectedly, Ze Yan ran over and stopped five steps away from Yun Qingluo. He then handed a small piece of watermelon that he had originally prepared for Qian Yue to Granny Gong, asking her to hold it for him.
Yun Qingluo looked at Zeyan with confusion. Was the child embarrassed?
Immediately afterwards, Zeyan knelt down and performed a grand salute to Yun Qingluo, muttering, "Your subject pays respects to Your Majesty."
A smile returned to Yun Qingluo's lips. It seemed that the Grand Tutor had been teaching this child quite a bit during this time.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qianyue, looking at Yun Qingluo, wanted to run over to find their mother like her brother, but she could only walk by holding onto a chair, while Yun Qingluo's side was empty, with nothing to hold onto.
Xiao Qianyue became anxious and mumbled incoherently, "A Liang, hug, baby, A Liang."
The childish voice, tinged with urgency, melted Yun Qingluo's heart completely.
Yun Qingluo stepped forward and helped Zeyan stand up. "Good boy, when there are no outsiders, just call me Mother. Have you been obedient to the Grand Tutor and Grandmother lately?"
Zeyan nodded with a mature look, "Yes, Zeyan has listened to the Grand Tutor. Zeyan can even write his own name now."
Yun Qingluo was slightly taken aback. Not even a year old, and already able to write calligraphy? Isn't that a bit exaggerated?
When she was six months old, she could only talk and walk. Even so, the headmaster exclaimed that she was a child prodigy. If she was a child prodigy, then what was this little one in front of him?
After the palace maids finished bowing to Yun Qingluo, they came over and said to Yun Qingluo with a smile, "It's true. I saw His Highness the Crown Prince write his name and His Highness the Princess's name with my own eyes. Even the Grand Tutor praised His Highness the Crown Prince, saying that his future achievements will definitely surpass those of the Emperor."
Xiao Yi's voice became even more exaggerated, "I don't believe it unless he writes down his name and shows it to me."
Yun Qingluo wanted to say that she didn't believe it either, absolutely not, how could this be possible?
A child less than a year old can write his own name with a calligraphy brush? What kind of Malaysian joke is this?
Just as Yun Qingluo was about to refute Granny Gong's words, she saw her son looking up at her with an expectant expression, his little hands behind his back, nervously buttoning his clothes.
Yun Qingluo couldn't say anything harsh for a moment. She squatted down, pulled the little boy in front of her, and said in a surprised tone, "Wow, is it true? Is Zeyan so amazing? He can already write his and his sister's names with a calligraphy brush. That's so impressive!"
Xiao Yi ruthlessly exposed her as "a woman who's just going through the motions."
Zeyan's joy faded visibly, and he said in a disappointed tone, "Mother's words are very perfunctory."
Yun Qingluo's heart tightened, realizing that her reaction had been somewhat excessive, and she immediately repented, acknowledging her mistake.
“I’m not just saying that. My Zeyan is the best. I’ve always known that. How about this, Zeyan will write it for Mother another day, okay?” Yun Qingluo said gently, holding the little boy’s hand.
Her small hands were clenched tightly, and her smiling face was full of grievance, which made Yun Qinglu feel even more guilty.
"My dear, Mother really wasn't just saying that to you. Mother believes in Zeyan. The Grand Tutor even wrote a letter specifically praising Zeyan. Let me tell you a secret, it's not easy to get a word of praise from the Grand Tutor." Yun Qingluo leaned down and whispered in Zeyan's ear.
After saying this, Zeyan's eyes lit up again, as if he had heard an incredible secret.
"Thank you for the praise, Mother. I will become even more amazing in the future, even more amazing than Father," Zeyan promised, his tone full of pride.
Yun Qingluo wanted to continue speaking, but was immediately interrupted by an urgent voice from the side.
"Ah Liang, Ah Liang, hug, Ah Baba, hug, baby..." Qian Yue saw that her mother was smiling gently at her brother and talking to him for a long time without even glancing at her.
Her tone became even more urgent, "Ah Liang, Ah Liang, hug me~"
Yun Qingluo turned around and saw her impatient little girl holding onto the chair with one hand and reaching towards her with the other, her eyes already moist.
"Oh, good girl, let Mommy hug you. Don't cry, okay? Qianyue is a strong child, don't cry." Yun Qingluo squatted down and moved a few steps toward Qianyue, reaching out to hug her tightly.
Qianyue threw herself into her mother's arms, smelling the familiar scent, and snuggled contentedly against Yun Qingluo. Then she raised her little face and smiled sweetly.
"Ah Liang, baby, be good, food, no food." Qian Yue first looked at Yun Qingluo with a serious expression, then pointed at her own brother with a accusing look on her face.
Yun Qingluo was dumbfounded. She never expected that the first thing her daughter did when she rushed into her arms was not to say that she missed her or complain about why she had taken so long to come back, but to complain about her own brother.
The palace maid standing to the side smiled with narrowed eyes, "The princess and the crown prince are both very clever. They usually play together very well. This was just an accident. The princess is still young and has a weak stomach. Watermelon is cold in nature and is not suitable for her to eat. The crown prince was just doing it for the princess's own good."
Yun nodded slightly, indicating that she understood.
Then, looking tenderly at Qianyue, she asked softly, "Is it because brother won't let us Qianyue eat watermelon?"
Upon hearing this, Qian Yue nodded repeatedly, her nods so wide that Yun Qingluo's body trembled slightly, causing Yun Qingluo to chuckle.
"Oh, is that so? Has Qianyue eaten watermelon before?" Yun Qingluo asked curiously, but she guessed that she had, otherwise she wouldn't be so obsessed with it.
Upon hearing this, Qian Yue's eyes widened, a hint of guilt flashing in them. She quickly shook her head and opened her mouth wide to show Yun Qingluo that she hadn't eaten any.
Yun Qinglu smiled, her eyes crinkling, her expression becoming even more gentle. How come she hadn't noticed how adorable her daughter was before?
"Qianyue really hasn't eaten it? Did she eat it secretly?" Yun Qingluo continued to press.
Qian Yue's expression turned to shock, her eyes widened in disbelief, as if she was wondering how her mother knew she had secretly eaten watermelon.
Yun Qingluo then added, "Your Highness, you must not lie. You must be responsible for your actions. Children who lie will have their noses grow very, very long."
Qian Yue didn't seem to understand why the princess couldn't lie, but when she saw Yun Qingluo gesturing that her nose was getting longer, her little face turned flustered.
