Just as everyone remained silent, suddenly, a deep and clear voice seemed to travel through space and enter everyone's ears:
"What happened tonight must not be leaked. I'm sure you don't want this to be known to the outside world either."
This clearly requires the use of profound internal energy to achieve such long-distance sound transmission.
"My goodness! Just how many secrets is hidden in this Sumeru Continent? Everyone here is so powerful!" someone exclaimed.
"Who exactly is this person, that he can use internal energy to transmit sound?" the person next to him asked again.
"And judging from the sound, he must have been gone a long time ago," one of them exclaimed in a low voice.
“This person should have no connection with the royal family, otherwise how could his arrival and departure have been so quiet, without alerting the surrounding guards at all?” another person analyzed.
"Perhaps the guards had already noticed something amiss, but chose to turn a blind eye," someone suggested.
Thus, people once again fell into speculation about the mysterious identity and background of the woman in purple.
However, at this moment, the leader shouted angrily: "We've come to this point, and you still have the leisure to care about others? If it weren't for that expert's help just now, we probably wouldn't even know how we died."
He immediately ordered, "Investigate! Investigate now! Find the traitor!"
Upon hearing this, the tense atmosphere instantly became deathly silent.
The group exchanged glances, their eyes revealing a hint of doubt.
At this moment, their trust in each other seemed to be shaken, and they looked at the people next to them with a hint of suspicion and wariness.
Upon seeing this, a scholar-like man immediately stepped forward and said, "Boss, perhaps this note and the markings on it weren't made by one of our people. We on the mainland secretly use this method to transmit messages, and everyone in the world knows about it. It's not surprising that someone would imitate it."
"From what that gentleman just said, we've been tricked without even realizing it. So, this must be a setup to sow discord among us. If things go wrong within our ranks, we won't be able to get our hands on the Sumeru Continent, and it will only benefit people from other continents."
"Yes, boss, we are all brothers who have followed you through thick and thin. Our families are waiting for us to come back. How could we betray you?"
"Exactly, exactly. This must be a trap set by other continents. As long as we cause trouble, they'll take advantage of us."
The leader remained silent, not uttering a sound.
The crowd discussed it animatedly, but after a while, the murmurs gradually subsided.
The leader said coldly, "Go out and dispose of the body first. Remember, dispose of it cleanly."
"Yes, I'll take a few brothers and handle it myself." The burly man who had led the way out earlier immediately agreed.
Then, he personally called out the names of several people and led them out.
He had only been gone a short while when he turned back.
"What's wrong? Is there some new situation?" A person who was closer to the door saw him return looking anxious and thought something had happened again, so he quickly picked up the weapon at hand.
The burly man waved his hand, "No, boss, the body is gone."
"What? All the corpses have disappeared in such a short time?"
The burly man nodded solemnly and replied, "Yes, boss, all the corpses have simply vanished into thin air."
He frowned, his face full of worry as he speculated about the cause: "What exactly happened? Could it be that this time, they only sent a portion of their people, and there might be someone else behind them who secretly moved their companion's body when we weren't paying attention?"
Thinking of this, everyone couldn't help but feel worried. If that were the case, the situation would become extremely troublesome.
They began to worry that the other side might retaliate more fiercely against them after the failure of this operation.
At this point, someone couldn't help but ask the leader sitting at the head of the table, "Boss, what should we do next?"
The leader leaned back slightly against the chair, but his legs remained apart.
One leg is crossed over the other, the left hand rests casually on the thigh, and the right hand gently taps the table in front of him, producing a crisp and rhythmic sound.
Faced with his subordinates' questions, the leader did not answer immediately. Instead, he coldly retorted, "Don't panic. Since it has already happened, there's no use in us panicking. I ask you, has the crime scene been carefully examined? Have you found any useful clues?"
After receiving a negative answer, the leader fell into deep thought.
A moment later, the scholar-like man who had spoken earlier muttered to himself, "According to you, there were no traces at the scene. Not only did the body mysteriously disappear, but not even a drop of blood was left. It seems these people are very cunning, leaving no room for error, as if nothing had ever happened. In that case, even if we want to confront them later, it will probably be in vain, because we simply can't find any solid evidence..."
The leader shook his head slightly. "I suddenly remembered that the guy in purple clothes said he didn't want this matter to be leaked. Perhaps it was that guy who was able to dispose of so many corpses in such a short time without alerting the guards outside the courtyard."
"Yes, what the boss says is absolutely right. How can we hide the fact that so many corpses need to be transported out of the compound from the eyes and ears of the people outside?"
