Chapter 376 How could it be so soft?

Mu Zhi nodded and slowly sat up.

Just then, the tip of her nose trembled slightly, and a familiar, cool scent of pine quietly entered her nostrils.

Mu Zhi's heart skipped a beat, and her face instantly froze.

Seeing this, the magpie nearby hurriedly asked with concern, "Miss, what's wrong?"

Mu Zhi composed herself and asked, "Magpie, have you detected any unusual scent?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Zhi couldn't help but twitch her nose a few times towards the air, and the direction she was facing was exactly where Xuan Ming had just stood.

Xuanming silently observed Mu Zhi's every move and the direction she was facing, and a strange feeling arose in his heart.

Upon hearing this, Magpie looked somewhat surprised, clearly not understanding why her young mistress had asked such a question.

She looked around in confusion, sniffed hard, then shook her head and replied, "No, I don't smell anything strange, Miss. Is there something wrong?"

Mu Zhi frowned and moved slightly closer to that spot, trying to catch the faint, familiar, cool fragrance.

However, the fragrance seemed to play hide-and-seek, appearing and disappearing intermittently, making it elusive.

It feels very familiar.

It's like... it's like that person is standing right here.

"Smell it again, is there really nothing there?" Mu Zhi excitedly pulled Xi Que towards the spot where Xuan Ming had just stood, making her smell it.

The magpie sniffed hard, inhaling so deeply that it sneezed violently.

"Miss, there really is no smell. What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Magpie didn't understand why her mistress was so agitated.

Xuanming, perched on the roof beam, stood stiffly, his heart unable to calm as he looked down at the excited Muzhi.

Can she smell her own scent?

Xuanming had an indescribable feeling in his heart. He gently raised his arm and smelled his sleeve, but he couldn't smell anything.

"What's wrong, Miss?" Magpie asked again with concern.

Mu Zhi ignored the magpie. She struggled to peek out and look around, her disappointment clearly visible.

Then she gave a bitter, self-deprecating laugh; she had really been overthinking things.

How did he end up here?

Mu Zhi's heart turned cold again.

Seeing that the young lady's complexion had been poor ever since she sat up, and was even worse now, Magpie was anxious and asked with concern, "Why do you look so pale? I'll go and fetch the master right away."

As Magpie was about to leave after speaking, Mu Zhi called her back.

Mu Zhi shook her head. "I'm fine. Maybe I just woke up and haven't recovered yet."

She still held a sliver of hope, "After I fell asleep, did anyone come? Or did anyone come to visit me at the manor?"

The magpie shook its head.

Mu Zhi leaned back gently, and Magpie immediately stepped forward to place a pillow under her to make her more comfortable.

"Miss, why don't you drink your medicine first? Otherwise it will get cold and that won't be good." Magpie said as she turned around and brought the medicine over.

However, Mu Zhi didn't even glance at it, but simply shook her head and said, "I don't want to drink it, take it away."

Seeing this, the magpie became extremely anxious and quickly advised, "Miss, good medicine tastes bitter but is good for the illness. How can you get better quickly if you don't drink the medicine? Even just a small sip would be helpful."

However, Mu Zhi firmly stated, "I've been taking medicine all these years, so I don't care about a day or two. I just want to be alone for a while now. Magpie, you can go out now."

Magpie reluctantly put down the medicine bowl, but still said with concern, "But I also brought hot water. The temperature is just right now. You can use a damp cloth to soothe Miss's eyes."

However, Mu Zhi still shook her head and refused, saying, "Really, there's no need. Get a good night's sleep, and you'll feel better by tomorrow morning."

Nevertheless, the magpie refused to give up.

She continued to persuade him, "Miss, please don't force yourself anymore. Look how red your eyes are. Even with a warm compress, it's unlikely to completely reduce the swelling. If Master sees them tomorrow morning, he'll definitely think you've been crying alone behind his back, and he'll be so worried."

Upon hearing this, Mu Zhi's expression shifted slightly, as if she had been somewhat persuaded.

However, when she recalled the familiar scent she had just smelled, her mind became a jumbled mess.

The initial thought of compromise vanished instantly, replaced by an indescribable complex emotion.

Finally, Mu Zhi took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and said to Magpie, "Don't worry, I'm fine. It's just a minor ailment, no need to worry too much." After saying that, she closed her eyes.

"I'll do it myself later, Magpie. I need some peace and quiet." The voice was somewhat deep.

Magpie knew her young mistress was unhappy, so she didn't dare say anything more and left with a worried expression, closing the door behind her.

Mu Zhi stared blankly at the spot where Xuan Ming had just touched something.

Xuanming looked down at Muzhi, who was leaning against the headboard, seemingly lost in thought.

His eyes glanced at the medicine on the low table beside the bed and the basin of water on the shelf next to it, a thoughtful look in his gentle eyes.

Xuanming suppressed his agitation and sighed softly.

Mu Zhi seemed to be immersed in her own world and did not hear the sigh that Xuan Ming deliberately made.

Xuanming gave Muzhi a deep look, then lightly landed from the roof beam in front of her.

The light in front of her was suddenly blocked by a tall figure. Mu Zhi snapped out of her daze and looked toward the figure.

"temple......"

"Shh!"
