Chapter 528 She Wants to Fight for Herself

Early the next morning.

When Sheng Chuhan woke up groggily, it was already broad daylight.

She tried to move, but her whole body ached. "Ouch, my arms are so sore."

The next second, a familiar, cold voice was heard, "Don't move."

Sheng Chuhan looked up and saw Sheng Chuli sitting near the carriage door, holding a military book in his hands.

"Second brother?" Sheng Chuhan was still a little confused.

Saint Chuli gave a soft "hmm," then asked, "Are you hungry?"

Sheng Chuhan was about to say she wasn't hungry, but the rumbling in her stomach betrayed her.

Sheng Chuhan shrank back and quickly explained, "Second Brother, I'm not hungry. My stomach might be acting up. I'm really not hungry. I have a small appetite and don't eat much. I'm not a bother at all. Please don't send me back to the capital, okay?"

Saint Chuli didn't even glance at Saint Chuhan. After turning a page of the book in his hand, he said indifferently, "The army doesn't support idlers. This is a war, not a trip."

Upon hearing this, Sheng Chuhan felt there was a chance and quickly said, "I know! Ever since I heard the news of the upcoming campaign, I went to the Imperial Hospital to learn simple methods for treating wounds. I'm very useful. There's such a shortage of doctors on the battlefield, I can help. Brother, please don't send me back to the capital, okay?"

After listening to Sheng Chuhan's words, Sheng Chuli sighed inwardly.

He sat up straight, closed the book in his hand, turned to look at Sheng Chuhan and asked, "Why must you go to the battlefield?"

He remembered that Saint Chuhan was terrified of seeing bloody scenes.

When she was a child, she secretly sneaked into the imperial kitchen to find something to eat, and happened to witness a cook killing a chicken. Chicken blood splattered all over the floor, and she fainted from fright.

He was sick for several days afterward, and he and Sheng Chuyi were severely scolded by their father for it.

Later, they dared not discuss anything even slightly bloody in front of her.

Losing limbs on the battlefield is common, let alone drawing blood.

Why is she so stubborn?

Saint Chuhan resorted to her previous excuse, "As a princess of this dynasty, I am worshipped by the people, so it is only natural that I should do my part, and I want to help you."

Saint Chuli stared intently at Saint Chuhan without saying a word.

Feeling a little guilty, Sheng Chuhan looked away and said softly, "Second Brother, why are you looking at me like that?"

Saint Chuli said calmly, "Saint Chuhan, if you don't tell the truth, I will really have someone send you back to the capital."

Having heard this phrase repeated several times, Sheng Chuhan immediately became furious and shouted, "You just know how to threaten me with this. We're so far from the capital now, are you really going to let me go back to the capital alone?"

Upon hearing this, Sheng Chuli sneered, "I have secret guards. Send more guards to escort you. If that doesn't work, find officials nearby and have them escort you as well."

“So, to be honest, it’s still better to go back to the capital. It’s your choice,” Saint Chuli added.

Upon hearing this, Sheng Chuhan's face paled slightly, and her arrogance vanished instantly.

She lowered her head, looking at the white gauze in her palm, and fell silent.

Saint Chuli didn't urge her, and continued reading the book in his hand.

After a while, Sheng Chuhan said softly, "I heard that if the princess of a defeated country is captured in the Ghost Continent, she will be sent to the military camp to reward the troops."

Saint Chuli was stunned when he heard this.

He didn't immediately realize what Sheng Chuhan's words had to do with her insistence on going to the battlefield.

After a while, he realized what was happening and laughed in exasperation.

"Sheng Chuhan, you've really grown up! You don't trust your two older brothers at all?" Sheng Chuli's words were somewhat incoherent.

Saint Chuhan's eyes reddened uncontrollably. "Even if we win, for the sake of a century of peace, the princess will still be sent away for a political marriage."

Upon hearing Sheng Chuhan's aggrieved words, Sheng Chuli felt a lump in his throat, unsure of where to vent his anger.

He licked his back teeth and continued, "Do you think your brother would let you go and marry into a foreign power?"

Sheng Chuhan remained silent.

Saint Chuli gritted his teeth in anger, "Saint Chuyi should really be allowed to hear what you just said."

He was so angry that he threw down the book in his hand, lifted the curtain, and went outside.

Saint Chuli pouted and muttered to himself, "You were the one who told me to tell the truth, and I did, yet you're still angry with me. Humph."

However, when she recalled Saint Chuli's answer, she felt a warm glow in her heart.

She certainly believed that her two brothers would not easily give her away.

But if it arouses public resentment, how could she, as the eldest princess of a country, let her two elder brothers be in a difficult position?

She just wanted to create a way out for herself as much as possible.

She wanted to go to the battlefield and fight for this crucial battle. Even if the final result was not satisfactory, she could say without regret that she had lived for herself.

Moreover, she genuinely wanted to help her two older brothers.

She diligently studied medicine and developed self-protection skills.

Sheng Chuhan was thinking about all sorts of random things.

The carriage curtain was lifted again.

She looked up and saw Saint Chuli carrying a bowl in.

"Second brother, I thought you had abandoned me." Sheng Chuhan's aggrieved yet dependent voice made Sheng Chuli pause slightly.

He sat next to Sheng Chuhan, holding a bowl in one hand and a spoon in the other. He scooped up a spoonful of porridge, blew on it to cool it down, and then fed it to Sheng Chuhan.

"Open your mouth." Saint Chuli's voice was calm, but his tone left no room for refusal.

Sheng Chuhan was initially a little embarrassed, but upon seeing Sheng Chuli's expressionless face, she immediately stopped thinking about it.

She obediently opened her mouth and accepted Saint Chuli's feeding.

After finishing a bowl of porridge, Sheng Chuhan's stomach finally felt better.

Seeing that Sheng Chuli was about to leave again, Sheng Chuhan immediately spoke anxiously, "Second brother, I was wrong. I didn't question you and eldest brother. I just wanted to fight for my future. I believe in you and eldest brother. No matter when or where, you will never put me in danger."

Upon hearing this, Saint Chuli sat back down.

"Stop overthinking, get some sleep," Saint Chuli sighed.

Sheng Chuhan tugged pitifully at Sheng Chuli's sleeve, tilted her head back and asked, "Second Brother, will you still see me off?"

Saint Chuli's gaze fell upon that patch of snow-white skin, then he immediately looked away and said coldly, "Let's see how you perform."

After saying that, he lifted the curtain to go out, but was once again pulled by Sheng Chuhan's sleeve.

He turned around and saw Sheng Chuhan shyly lowering her head, her voice barely audible, "I need to use the restroom."

Upon hearing this, Saint Chuli's expression turned somewhat unnatural.

He didn't say a word and simply stepped out of the carriage.

Sheng Chuhan was stunned.

What does "Second Brother" mean?

Was my voice too soft and he didn't hear me?

Saint Chuhan wanted to cry but had no tears.

"Put on your shoes, give me your hands," came Saint Chuli's voice from outside the carriage.

Sheng Chuhan was excited. Hehe, Second Brother heard it.

Thinking about what was about to happen, her face flushed again.

She awkwardly put on her shoes and awkwardly reached out her hand.

With a single pull, Saint Chuli yanked the person out of the carriage and held him horizontally in his arms.

Sheng Chuhan nestled shyly in Sheng Chuli's arms, "Brother, I can walk by myself."

Saint Chuli remained expressionless and said coldly, "You have an injury on your foot, don't be willful."

"Oh," Sheng Chuhan replied obediently.

She had to behave herself and try not to upset her second brother.
