Chapter 594 Preparations Before Returning to the Capital

Xuanming chuckled and explained, “If I had to do everything myself, what would be the point of having so many people? Besides, for some reason, these ministers have been exceptionally diligent and meticulous in their work lately. They even present their memorials at the morning court session with their brains, creating an unusually harmonious atmosphere. As soon as the court session is adjourned, they all scatter faster than rabbits. If you try to get them to discuss matters, it seems like they've handled everything so well that you don't know what to say. Even when I proposed building water conservancy projects, they devised strategies overnight and executed them brilliantly.”

After listening to Xuanming's reflections, Mu Zhi simply smiled and remained silent.

Yingmei and Yingzhu exchanged a glance and rolled their eyes.

The Emperor still has the nerve to say that.

In the past, it was those ministers who urged him to select concubines and expand his harem, which made his ears hurt from all the noise.

Now that the Empress is pregnant, the tables have turned.

The emperor began to boast to his ministers, repeatedly boasting and repeating it.

The ministers were so tired of hearing about him that they avoided him whenever they saw him, wishing they could never see him again.

At first, they just took it as a joke, but now it seems that their emperor is very shrewd and calculating. Without the ministers' nagging, their ears are much quieter.

After strolling around for a while, Mu Zhi started to feel tired.

Xuanming offered to take her back, but Muzhi refused.

"There are a bunch of palace servants following me, so you go ahead and do your work. I'll just go back and get some sleep," Mu Zhi said with a gentle smile.

Xuanming shook his head. "It's alright. I'll take you back first, then I'll go to the Imperial Study. You're quite far along in your pregnancy now, so you need to be extra careful."

Mu Zhi wanted to refuse, but Xuan Ming pretended not to listen and helped her walk towards the palace.

Mu Zhi could only pull herself together and head towards the palace.

After packing their luggage, Yun Qingluo and Mo Beichen originally planned to take a plane back.

But Mo Beichen refused.

When asked for his reasons at first, Mo Beichen hesitated and was unwilling to answer.

Yun Qingluo then let him ride back to the capital in a carriage.

We traveled on and off, wasting several months.

Xiao Yi rode in one carriage, Yun Qingluo and Mo Beichen rode in another, and Yun Ying and Feng Tianxing rode in yet another. Four more carriages followed behind, filled with things they had secretly taken from the plane under the pretense of buying things along the way.

In November of the second year of the Yongjia era, the group finally arrived at the town closest to the capital.

The carriage stopped.

Yun Qingluo asked in surprise, "Why did the carriage stop? What happened?"

Just as the person on the first floor was about to speak, Mo Beichen said, "Let's rest here tonight. The snow outside is too heavy. We'll continue our journey tomorrow."

Yun Qingluo glanced at Mo Beichen, looking somewhat conflicted.

“The closer we get to the capital, the more anxious you become. We’ve been traveling for three days straight. Even if we don’t rest, the horses need to. Let’s rest here today so we can be in good spirits to see the children tomorrow,” Mo Beichen comforted Yun Qingluo, holding her little hand.

Yun Qingluo nodded. "Okay, I was just a little nervous. It's all your fault. If we had been a little faster, we might have been able to celebrate the children's birthdays. We missed both of their birthdays."

Mo Zhiyuan and Mo Junye will turn two years old this October.

Mo Beichen did not deny his selfish motives, but still did not explain why he insisted on taking a carriage back to the capital instead of flying directly back.

“Once we get back and settle down, we’ll find a place near the capital and build an airport. Then we’ll find an excuse to take the plane out and put it there, making travel more convenient in the future.” Mo Beichen didn’t continue talking about the two children from earlier, but brought up another matter.

Yun Qingluo had no objection to this. "Alright, we do need to find a reason to bring out this plane."

Yun Qingluo stepped out of the carriage with Mo Beichen's help.

Looking at the heavy snowfall, he exclaimed in surprise, "I didn't expect the snow to be so heavy."

Because it was so cold, Yun Qingluo stayed huddled in the carriage all day. She only knew that it was snowing outside, but she didn't know how heavy the snow was.

In order to avoid the carriage, she barely drank any water.

She is afraid of the cold but loves winter.

Xiao Yi, wearing a white cloak, walked over and stood with them at the entrance of the inn.

Xiao Yi muttered, "This journey has witnessed both autumn and winter. No wonder visiting relatives in ancient times was so difficult."

"When I left, the willows were swaying; now I return, the rain and snow are falling." Yun Qingluo smiled and glanced at Xiao Yi, looking at the heavy snow falling all around, feeling a little sentimental.

Mo Beichen glanced at the street outside, then looked back at the snowflakes on her head and said gently, "It's cold outside, let's go inside."

As the group entered the inn, the warmth that greeted them made Yun Qingluo feel as if she had entered spring.

Several stoves were lit inside the inn, making it warm and cozy.

Yun Qingluo wanted to take off her cloak, but Mo Beichen stopped her.

"Take it off when we get back to the room, so you don't catch a cold," Mo Beichen said, tidying Yun Qingluo's hair again.

"The rooms have been prepared, please come in, esteemed guests." The innkeeper personally came out to greet them, his face beaming with joy, and he led the way for them.

Yun Qingluo glanced at Mo Beichen and said, "Your businesses are flourishing everywhere."

On their way back, they ate and stayed in properties under the name of First Building.

When we got back to the room, there was a stove burning inside, so it wasn't cold at all.

There was a screen blocking the view, and behind the screen was a bathtub filled with hot water.

Yun Qingluo unbuttoned her cloak and asked Mo Beichen, "Why don't we go to the space to wash up?"
