Chapter 536 Sleeping so soundly

When Sheng Chuhan slowly woke up, she found herself in a carriage.

She couldn't help but feel surprised: Huh? How could this be? She had slept so soundly.

Sheng Chuhan closed her eyes and reached out to rub her slightly furrowed brows, but at that moment, she felt something slip quietly from her palm.

She opened her eyes with a look of suspicion, and looked down to see a black cloak lying quietly at her feet.

"Second Brother's cloak? Huh? Why is Second Brother's cloak here?" Sheng Chuhan murmured softly.

Before she could finish speaking, she noticed a gaze directed at her. She instinctively turned her head in the direction of that gaze and saw Saint Chuli sitting upright on the other side of the carriage.

At that moment, he was looking down, staring intently at himself.

Seeing this, Saint Chuli stretched lazily and said irritably, "You really don't remember?"

Sheng Chuhan looked blank and honestly shook her head.

What should she remember?

Seeing this, Saint Chuli chuckled softly and said slowly, "After the horses in the carriage were changed, I intended to carry you, who was fast asleep, into the carriage to sleep. However, even though you were already lying in the carriage, you still clung tightly to my cloak and refused to let go. Helpless, I had no choice but to stay in the carriage and wait for you to wake up."

Sheng Chuhan was shocked after hearing Sheng Chuli's words.

"Oh, is that so? I don't remember at all. Do I really have a habit of sleeping with my hands on things? That's so strange!" Sheng Chuhan muttered to herself, her beautiful brows furrowed, her face full of confusion.

At this moment, Saint Chuli gently moved his shoulders, which had become numb from the pressure.

He didn't respond to Sheng Chuhan's mutterings, but suddenly asked, "Are you hungry?"

Upon hearing this, Sheng Chuhan subconsciously reached out and touched her lower abdomen.

After a good night's sleep, she felt exceptionally relaxed, but this was followed by an increasingly intense feeling of hunger.

Thinking about it carefully, she realized that she had been in a bad mood for the past few days and hadn't had much of an appetite, so she had overlooked the feeling of hunger.

However, at this moment, the feeling of hunger could no longer be ignored.

She couldn't help but look up at Saint Chuli with longing eyes, and then she laughed foolishly.

Seeing this, Saint Chuli raised his eyebrows slightly with a hint of helplessness. He then turned around and picked up the pastries he had prepared earlier from the small table, saying in a soft voice, "It's past mealtime now, but there's been some porridge warming in the small earthenware pot. Have some pastries to fill your stomach first, and I'll go get the porridge for you right away."

As soon as Sheng Chuli finished speaking, Sheng Chuhan eagerly reached out and accepted the pastries with both hands, her face beaming with a happy smile. She sweetly said, "Thank you, Second Brother! You're so kind!"

Sheng Chuli glared at her. "You're only useful when it's time to be second brother. When will you ever show any interest, Sheng Chuhan?"

Saint Chuhan stared blankly at the slightly swaying carriage curtain.

What does "Second Brother" mean? She's always been very thoughtful; she even accompanied me to the frontier.

Saint Chuli shook his head and began to eat the pastry.

"Ah, it's my favorite osmanthus and jujube paste cake! Second Brother is truly amazing. How could there be osmanthus and jujube paste cake in this godforsaken place?" Sheng Chuhan happily took a bite and excitedly talked to herself.

Saint Chuli slowly stepped out of the carriage, his posture as upright as a pine tree, his gaze fixed directly on where Liu Teng was.

He walked with firm steps and soon arrived in front of Liu Teng.

"General, the porridge has been kept warm on the fire, and it's probably still piping hot. I'll serve it to you right away." As soon as Liu Teng saw Sheng Chuli approaching, he hurried forward to greet him, his face full of respect.

After the general brought the princess back to the army and got into the carriage, he never showed up again, and didn't even eat lunch or dinner.

The princess slept very soundly.

Liu Teng couldn't help but sigh inwardly. The general doted on the princess to an extreme degree. He wondered how heartbroken the general would be when the princess married another man in the future.

"There's no need for such trouble. I, the general, will do it myself. You should go and rest. We need to get up early tomorrow morning to continue our journey, so please make sure you get plenty of rest." Saint Chuli waved his hand gently, indicating his refusal.

Upon hearing Sheng Chuli's words, Liu Teng finally snapped out of his turbulent thoughts.

Seeing that Saint Chuli was resolute, he no longer insisted. He bowed and then turned to leave.

Before long, Sheng Chuli returned to the carriage, carrying a steaming bowl of porridge steadily in both hands. As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Sheng Chuhan with her eyes slightly closed, contentedly munching on a pastry. She looked like a satisfied kitten, utterly endearing.

Upon seeing this, Saint Chuli's originally cold and stern face softened instantly.

He said softly, "The pastries are too dry. Have some porridge to moisten your mouth. It shouldn't be too hot now." As he spoke, he handed the bowl of porridge in his hand to Sheng Chuhan.

As soon as Sheng Chuli finished speaking, Sheng Chuhan quickly opened her eyes and smiled somewhat embarrassedly.

Her bright eyes were fixed on the small table. When she noticed that there was only a lone bowl of porridge on it, she was filled with doubt and asked, "Second Brother, where is your bowl of porridge? Is this the only bowl of porridge you have?"
