In the early winter of the twelfth year of Tianhe in the Tianmo Kingdom.
The royal secret prison on the outskirts of the city.
In the dim and damp cell, several rats brazenly gnawed on a plate of moldy pastries.
With a creak, the door opened.
Bright light, accompanied by a biting wind, rushed into the cell, and Yun Qingluo carefully hid the sharpened hairpin.
"Sister, how have you been lately? Your little sister has come to see you." A woman dressed in wedding attire smiled as she stepped into the prison cell.
Yun Qingluo's eyes flashed with a chilling coldness. "Yun Yiyi, where are Father, Mother, and Brothers?"
"They are dead. They were convicted of treason and betrayal, and their entire families were sentenced to be executed."
"Does sister know how tragically they died? General Yun was hung on the city wall and froze to death. Young Master Yun and Young Master Yun were stripped of their military posts at the border, torn apart by five horses, and their bodies were left to rot in the wilderness. As for the general's wife, she died long ago, what a pity."
Seeing Yun Qingluo's incredulous expression, Yun Yiyi continued with a smile, "Oh, sister really didn't know, after all, you haven't cared about the General's Mansion since you got married."
"Absolutely impossible! The General's Mansion is full of loyal and righteous men, how could they betray the country?" Yun Qingluo was so angry that she spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Back then, you sent a letter of disownment home, and your mother was so angry that she passed away. Later, when the new emperor ascended the throne, he discovered that the General's family had committed treason... In fact, it was all your fault as the eldest daughter of the General's family. If it weren't for your sister putting that thing in your father's study, the emperor wouldn't have been able to convict you so quickly."
Yun Yiyi covered her face with her handkerchief and laughed, feeling a great sense of satisfaction as she looked at Yun Qingluo's shocked and regretful expression.
The clouds seemed to tremble as if struck by lightning. "How could this be? That thing..."
Yun Qingluo took a breath, suddenly realizing, "That was clearly what you asked me to do, you said back then..."
Yun Yiyi suddenly screamed, interrupting her, "So what? They deserved it. Who told them not to stand on the Emperor's side? Ha! They knew I liked the Regent, yet they still made you marry him. We're both daughters, why are they so biased... They deserved to die."
Yun Qingluo's heart ached as if it were being torn apart, tears streaming down her face. How could this be, how could this be...?
"Where is the Valley of Divine Healers?" Yun Qingluo asked again, her voice trembling.
"They refused to submit to the Emperor, so the Emperor sent an army of 100,000 to wipe them out. How could you ask such a stupid question, sister?" Yun Yiyi covered her face with her handkerchief and chuckled softly.
"Where is Mo Beichen? He won't abandon them." Yun Qingluo asked hurriedly, as if grasping at a lifeline, unable to believe it.
"He went to the barbarian lands to prove what you call true love. With him gone, the Emperor wants to destroy the General's Mansion and the Valley of Divine Physicians. Who can protect them?"
Yun Qingluo felt suffocated with heartache, overwhelmed by regret, and tears of blood welled up in her eyes.
Suddenly she got up and lunged at Yun Yiyi, but was kicked away by someone who appeared out of the corner of her eye. The person was wearing a bright yellow robe.
Yun fell to the ground, the sound of bones breaking echoing, but she seemed oblivious, glaring at the man with hatred.
"Mo Beili? I helped you become the crown prince and ascend the throne. How could you betray me and kill my family and destroy my sect?"
"You slut, if it weren't for Mo Beichen liking you, do you think I would be so affectionate towards a fat bastard like you?" Mo Beili spat.
Despite being the late emperor's son, his name deliberately includes the character for "north," just like his generation.
Isn't this a blatant attempt to climb the social ladder?
I don't know why that old geezer gave him a name with the character "Bei" in it.
"What do you mean?" Yun Qingluo was stunned.
"What His Majesty means is that the one who saved you from the cliff wasn't him, the one who rescued you from the wolves' jaws wasn't him, and the one who has been protecting you and giving you surprises wasn't him either. It was the Regent who went to the barbarians alone for you. You? You're nothing but an actor." Yun Yiyi sneered.
She turned to Mo Beili and smiled gently, "Why has Your Majesty come here?"
“He’s coming to kill us.” Mo Beili said in a cold voice.
Upon hearing that Mo Beichen had arrived, Yun Yiyi's face paled, and she hurriedly asked, "What? How did he know this...?"
After glancing at Yun Qinghou, Yu Guang sneered arrogantly and said, "Don't worry, the Emperor has already planned this, hasn't he? Even if all else fails, we still have her."
After saying that, she stepped forward and grabbed Yun Qingluo's hair, "Good sister, didn't you want to see him? You'll see him soon, aren't you happy?"
Yun Qingluo, dejected and self-deprecating, said, "How ridiculous!"
I made a mistake in my youth, loved the wrong person, gave my heart to the wrong person, and caused the death of my relatives and my master.
When Yun Qingluo thought about what she had done to Mo Beichen, she subconsciously didn't want to see him. Ignoring the tugging at her scalp, she frantically crawled backward.
"Good sister, don't hide, look, he's here." Yun Yiyi forcefully pulled Yun Qingluo to the door and said softly.
Yun Qingluo heard the sound of rapid hoofbeats and looked up to see a tall and imposing figure riding towards her against the light.
The newcomer was dressed in a long black robe, with a slender figure, a handsome face that seemed to belong to a celestial being, and a cold, piercing light in his eyes.
When his icy gaze fell upon the battered and bruised Yun Qingluo, his face paled, his fingers clenched into fists, and he spurred his horse forward.
"Luo Luo!" Her voice was filled with regret and self-reproach.
"Ninth Imperial Uncle, don't come any closer, or I'll kill her." Mo Beili held a sword to Yun Qingluo's neck.
Mo Beichen stopped in his tracks, but his eyes never left Yun Qingluo.
Yun Qinglu's tears mingled with blood as they slid down her cheeks. Why was he here? Didn't he see that there were ambushes all around?
"You, you should leave quickly..." Yun Qingluo wanted to shout, but found that her voice was already hoarse.
"Luo Luo, be good, I'm here to take you home." Mo Beichen said softly, then turned and looked at Mo Beili with icy eyes.
