Chapter 440 Watching Fireworks from the Star-Picking Tower

Mo Junye was also astonished by this series of amazing phenomena, his eyes widening in surprise.

This was the first time he had ever seen such amazing fireworks; how could they have so many different shapes?

"Wow, brother, it's a little pig!"

"Ah, yes, yes..."

“It’s a squirrel.” Mo Junye’s smile finally widened as he watched his younger sister so excited that she forgot the name of the animal the fireworks were supposed to be.

"Yes, yes, it's a squirrel! Wow, brother, this is a dragon! How majestic and powerful it is!"

"Mmm, this dragon is so beautiful. Wow, little sister, this is your name!" Mo Junye had been responding somewhat perfunctorily, but when he saw Mo Zhiyuan's name appear in the sky, he suddenly became excited.

"Ah, brother, I see it! How amazing! My name is in the sky! Wow, hahaha, I'm so happy! Brother, your name is there too! Wow, so many of my names! I'm so happy, hahaha!" Mo Zhiyuan and Mo Junye laughed and cheered when they saw each other's names appear in the sky. They held hands and jumped around.

Xiao Jue stood not far from the two of them, leaning against the railing, smiling as he watched the two little ones jump around excitedly, sharing the images that appeared in the sky. His smile was even brighter than the fireworks exploding in the sky.

Mo Beichen, the two little ones are very happy. Consider this a little compensation for my belated arrival.

Tired of watching the fireworks, Mo Zhiyuan reached out to Xiao Jue to hold her while she watched. Xiao Jue smiled, stretched his arm, walked over, picked up both little ones, and let them sit in his arms to continue watching the fireworks.

As Xiao Jue watched the fireworks bloom one after another, his thoughts drifted far away. He wondered how the group was doing and whether they had sent a message.

This is really worrying.

When Xiao Jue came to his senses, he felt a little sore in his arm. Looking down, he saw that the two little ones had already fallen asleep.

He watched the two sleeping soundly with their heads on his shoulders, and without waking them, he quietly walked down the city wall, where a sedan chair had already been prepared.

"Steward Wu is so thoughtful. I was just wondering how to get back," Xiao Jue said politely when he saw Steward Wu standing guard beside the sedan chair.

This man is the commander of the Phoenix Guard, and he respects him from the bottom of his heart.

Steward Wu glanced affectionately at Mo Junye and Mo Zhiyuan, who were sleeping soundly, and then bowed to Xiao Jue, saying, "You're too kind, Lord Xiao, please."

Xiao Jue sat down in the sedan chair and yawned, the fatigue from days of travel washing over him again.

After sending the two people back and settling them in, Xiao Jue returned to the place that Mo Beichen had specially prepared for the people in their building.

"Master, the hot water is ready, please come in." Xiao Yi was leaning against the pillar by the door with his eyes closed, resting. Hearing the noise, he immediately opened his eyes alertly. Seeing that it was Xiao Jue, he relaxed and went to greet him.

Xiao Jue nodded, went into the room, and turned to Xiao Yi, saying, "You've worked hard too, go and rest. It's safe in the palace now."

"Yes, Master," Xiao Yi said gratefully and then left.

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window onto the bed, but Xiao Jue was still lost in a sweet dream.

Suddenly, a chattering sound reached his ears, breaking the morning's tranquility.

He frowned, his displeasure evident, but he quickly opened his eyes, a gloomy look on his face.

He sat quietly on the bed, listening carefully to the sounds coming from outside. When he confirmed that it was Mo Zhiyuan and Mo Junye, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly and he chuckled softly. The anger he had felt from being woken up vanished instantly.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yi, who was outside the door, felt a splitting headache.

Because he knew very well that it was most taboo for anyone to disturb his sleep before he woke up.

However, these two little devils came running over early in the morning, clamoring to see their master. "Oh dear, my little darlings, could you please be a little quieter? Or could you find another place to wait for our master to wake up?"

Xiao Yi used almost all his eloquence, but Mo Zhiyuan remained unmoved, pouting and saying, "Hmph! I'm going to find Uncle Xiao, what right do you have to stop me?"

Left with no other choice, Xiao had to tell the truth: "Master hates being woken up when he's sleeping, so please be patient and wait until he wakes up before going to find him."

"You said it was someone else, so look, look closely, am I someone else? I'm Uncle Xiao's favorite little princess! Move aside, I need to find Uncle Xiao. He promised last night he'd accompany me to martial arts practice." Mo Zhiyuan persisted.

She couldn't wait to get out of bed early in the morning and dragged Mo Junye to Xiao Jue's door.

Xiao Yi's eyes widened, a troubled expression on his face. He stammered, "But...but Master has not mentioned this matter. This subordinate...this subordinate dares not make a decision on his own."

"Then move aside, take me inside to see Uncle Xiao, and I can ask him for clarification." Mo Zhiyuan persisted, her hands on her hips, head tilted back, looking at Xiao Yi with a serious expression, as if waiting for him to give in.

Just as Xiao Yi was about to continue persuading him, he suddenly heard a slight sound of a door opening behind him.

He turned around and saw the door slowly open, revealing a tall figure in the doorway. Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing him in its glow and adding to his air of mystery.

"My lord, please forgive me for disturbing your rest. I deserve to die for failing to stop the princess and the crown prince." Xiao Yi looked somewhat flustered when he saw that Xiao Jue looked like he hadn't woken up yet.

Xiao Jue stretched and waved his hand to indicate that he was alright: "It's nothing, you can go now."

Then, he stood inside the door, looking at Mo Junye and Mo Zhiyuan, and asked softly, "What brings you two here so early?"
