The train station was crowded, and since animals were not prohibited from being brought on the train at that time, the train staff would not stop people as long as they did not bother others.
Mu Zhenting had arranged for someone to buy Mu Jingheng and Xu Xinning's train tickets long ago; all Mu Jingheng needed to do was go to the station to pick them up.
Mu Zhenting had someone buy him a soft sleeper ticket, and the person who helped him was his former comrade-in-arms, who is now the head of the provincial capital's train station.
In those days, trains were the most important means of transportation. There were many small stations along the way, and trains had to stop at each one. The trains were also slow, and it would take five or six days to get from the provincial capital to Beijing. If it weren't for the soft sleeper, the journey would probably have been quite difficult.
Getting on the train is a skill. With so many people, plus their luggage and various animals, it's really hard to get on without some skill. Luckily, this is the starting station. If it were a small station along the way, the battle would be even more fierce, and it would be common to lose a shoe in the crowd.
Mu Jingheng didn't want Xu Xinning to be jostled around by people, especially by those disgusting men. He found the carriage on their tickets, picked Xu Xinning up, and then forcefully pushed her through the open window.
Xu Xinning is a novice in martial arts, and she and Mu Jingheng cooperated quite well. With a simple movement from Mu Jingheng, Xu Xinning grabbed the window frame, and with a push of her hands, she slid into the carriage like an eel. After standing still, she leaned against the window and reached out to Mu Jingheng for help. Then, Mu Jingheng also easily climbed into the carriage through the window.
The beds in the soft sleeper carriages are not as densely packed as those in the hard sleeper carriages.
The soft sleeper carriage has two levels, divided into left and right sides, with a fixed small table in the middle. The hard sleeper carriage has three levels, divided into upper, middle and lower levels, also divided into left and right sides, with a fixed small table in the middle.
At this moment, only Mu Jingheng and Xu Xinning were in the carriage. To make things easier, they took out the food they had prepared on the train over the past few days from their spatial storage while no one was around. As for hot meals, they would have to improvise when the time came.
The two of them were in bunk beds on the same side, so no matter who came from the opposite side, they wouldn't be bothered.
Mu Jingheng was inexplicably excited about taking the train with Xu Xinning for the first time, and he also felt that Xu Xinning finally belonged to him alone.
The two sat close together, cracking sunflower seeds and admiring the spectacular scene of people jostling outside the car window. When the mood struck them, they would make a bet to see if one of the older women could squeeze through the crowd faster than the other, or even bet on whether the goose in the sack would peck at the people nearby if it got angry from being squeezed.
When Mu Jingheng's mouth got dry from cracking sunflower seeds, he took the initiative to peel an orange for Xu Xinning.
While others were crammed in and felt utterly hopeless, these two unscrupulous people found it quite amusing.
"Waaah..."
"Besides, besides, besides..."
The train finally started moving.
No one entered Xu Xinning and Mu Jingheng's carriage.
It seems that for the time being, this place will be their domain.
Mu Jingheng thought his father had handled things well this time. If it had just been him and Xu Xinning along the way, he planned to find his father another woman after he got rid of that woman, ensuring his father could truly enjoy a second spring.
At noon, the two of them took out steaming hot braised pork, crucian carp and tofu soup, hot and sour shredded potatoes, and two bowls of rice from their space.
This meal was so enjoyable, even more comfortable than when I'm at home.
After dinner, I'll have two cups of milk tea.
Mu Jingheng felt that this was what life should be like, with good food and drink, and a loved one by his side.
Xu Xinning couldn't stop herself from eating too much, so she stood up and walked around.
Mu Jingheng was dazzled by her walking, so he made her lie down and slowly massaged her stomach clockwise with his hands.
Perhaps the atmosphere was too ambiguous, because someone's position shifted as they pressed the buttons.
Xu Xinning shook off his messy hand, but he clung to her again. Well, that was fine; they naturally digested their food in the back and forth.
Mu Jingheng grinned foolishly at Xu Xinning, and would steal a kiss when she wasn't looking.
Young couples love to do these little things: you touch me, I sneak up on you, you kiss me, I bite you, and they never get tired of it.
Take a nap when you're tired from playing.
Mu Jingheng didn't want to be separated from Xu Xinning, so the two of them squeezed onto this small bed.
The train rocked her like a cradle, and she eventually fell asleep.
Mu Jingheng was worried that she would be uncomfortable sleeping in a cramped space, so he sat by the bed and watched over her.
He felt incredibly satisfied just looking at her sleeping posture.
The two of them had beef noodles for dinner. It must have smelled so good that someone from next door was curiously peeking in.
Mu Jingheng used his body to block others' probing gazes and drew the curtain.
The train chugged along, and as evening fell, it passed through a major station. Finally, people arrived in Xu Xinning and Mu Jingheng's carriage.
The man was in his forties, wearing glasses, with his hair slicked back and slicked back, looking very smooth and shiny, probably from using a lot of hair oil. He was wearing a faded gray Lenin suit with a pen clipped to his pocket, and his black trousers were pressed crisply. On his feet were a pair of heavy leather shoes.
Behind the man was a young man, carrying a black leather bag in one hand and a large bucket-shaped military green canvas bag in the other. He was also wearing a Lenin suit and looked like the man's secretary or something similar.
Upon entering and seeing Xu Xinning and Mu Jingheng sitting together, he greeted them with a smile, "Hello, you two! It's a pleasure to be in the same carriage as you! A pleasure to meet you!!"
Xu Xinning and Mu Jingheng both stood up and replied, "Nice to meet you!"
The middle-aged man then asked, "Where are you all going?"
Mu Jingheng replied: "Kyoto."
