Chapter 17 The Poisoning Is Too Deep

Xu Daya kept an eye on Mu Jingheng out of the corner of her eye. None of his movements escaped her notice. She was certain that this educated youth had feelings for Xu Xinning.

Xu Daya was so jealous! Why was it that Xu Xinning could always get what she wanted so easily?

Despite her deep displeasure, Xu Daya managed to control her emotions well and took the opportunity to stand beside Mu Jingheng.

As the tractor started, Xu Daya pretended to accidentally fall into Mu Jingheng's arms, but unfortunately, she didn't succeed.

Mu Jingheng was perceptive; he had already noticed many of Xu Daya's subtle actions. Displeased, he turned around and subtly placed Liu Peng between him and Xu Daya, so Xu Daya ended up in Liu Peng's arms.

Xu Daya secretly lamented her disappointment and felt very dissatisfied with Liu Peng. She cursed him inwardly for not knowing where to stand, wondering why such a big tractor had to stand between her and Mu Jingheng.

Although he knew it was an accident, Liu Peng blushed when Xu Daya pounced on him like that. He had never been so intimate with a woman before.

Liu Peng: "I...I'm sorry!"

Xu Daya lowered her head and pretended to be shy as she smoothed her hair at her temples, replying, "I should be the one saying sorry."

Liu Peng: "You...you pull here, be careful there might be another accident."

Xu Daya: "Thank you!"

Lu Chunping glanced at Xu Daya and Liu Peng, her eyes revealing disdain.

Xu Daya was very confident in her charm and very patient. She believed that one day she would definitely get what she wanted, and there was plenty of time in the future!

Actually, Xu Daya didn't necessarily have to be Mu Jingheng. The reason she chose him was because he was good-looking and looked more noble than the others. When she went to the male educated youth's room, she saw that Mu Jingheng's personal belongings were beyond her imagination. More importantly, his attitude towards Xu Xinning was unusual.

Xu Daya's inferiority complex made her desperately want to outdo Xu Xinning; she would want anything related to her.

The educated youth settlement and the brigade headquarters were not far apart; a tractor could get there in just a few hops.

Yang Chunqin and Xu Qiang had just returned from the fields. Their trousers were rolled up and covered in mud. They were barefoot, carrying their shoes, and talking to each other.

Actually, the weather was still quite cold at this time of year, but farmers lived a rough life and didn't care much about such things in order to make their work easier.

Seeing the tractor approaching, the two men looked over at the same time, and quickly followed it in as it turned into the brigade headquarters.

Xu Xinning stopped the tractor and turned off the engine, and the educated youth all jumped off.

Xu Daya: "Auntie! Uncle Qiang!"

Yang Chunqin replied with a smile, "Da Ya! Are these all educated youth? Welcome, welcome, our Xujia Village Brigade welcomes you all!"

Xu Daya smiled and introduced them to the educated youth: "This is Comrade Yang Chunqin, the brigade leader of our Xujia Village Brigade, and this is Comrade Xu Qiang, the brigade secretary of our Xujia Village Brigade!"

Xu Qiang: "Welcome, I hope that with your participation, we can build our Xujia Village brigade even better."

Xu Qiang and Yang Chunqin extended their hands and shook hands with the educated youth.

Scarface had returned to the brigade headquarters early and had already prepared the rations for the educated youth. He was sitting there now, recording work points for the returning members.

Yang Chunqin: "Da Ya, take the educated youth to your Uncle Scarface to get the grain permits, and then go to the warehouse to collect the grain."

Xu Daya: "Okay, Auntie!"

When Yang Chunqin first saw Xu Daya being so affectionate with the educated youth, she was a little puzzled and thought that Xu Xinning had asked Xu Daya for help.

Xu Xinning is too cold-hearted. She is not very enthusiastic with acquaintances, let alone strangers. So Yang Chunqin thinks it is good to have Xu Daya's help. She just hopes that her second sister-in-law will not think too much about it.

Xu Daya led the people away, and Yang Chunqin and Xu Qiang went to the well to wash up.

Xu Xinning followed.

Yang Chunqin glanced at Xu Xinning and asked, "How are these educated youths doing?"

Xu Xinning: "Most of them are okay, but there are a few that are quite troublesome."

Xu Qiang: "I don't expect them to make any great contributions. As long as they behave themselves, that's enough."

Yang Chunqin: "They are all young people who have never experienced hardship. It is not easy for them to suddenly leave their hometown. We will let our commune members take good care of them. Farm work is not difficult to learn."

Xu Qiang: "Who says otherwise? Let's get to know them better and then put them in positions they are good at. We can't let the commune members think they're just there to freeload off us, or the work will be difficult."

Yang Chunqin: "I estimate that their families will also receive subsidies. If they don't have enough work points, they can exchange them for grain with the village. There are always more solutions than problems. We don't have any experience yet, but we'll solve it in time."

After completing her task, Xu Xinning took the tractor crank handle and went to her medical station. She had been busy for most of the day picking up the educated youth, and the Chinese medicinal herbs she had dug up on the mountain that morning had not yet been processed.

Although the space contained all kinds of Chinese medicinal herbs, including some very rare ones, Xu Xinning discovered a strange phenomenon: some of the herbs seemed to be different from what she knew.

In her previous life, she had heard her mother say that both animals and plants could evolve over time. She felt that those Chinese medicinal herbs that differed from the ones she knew might have already evolved.

In the two years since she returned, Xu Xinning has been working hard to deal with these Chinese medicinal herbs, and she does not want her misunderstandings to affect the prescription.

Although Xu Xinning was a princess in her previous life, she witnessed political changes along with her father and mother. In her limited life of more than ten years, she experienced many major events, not to mention witnessing the fragility of life. Therefore, she was obsessed with studying medicine and always thought about what she could do for the common people.

At that time, Xu Xinning was very fortunate to have an encyclopedic mother who never asked anyone else to educate her and her siblings.

From her mother, she learned about the changes in history, the mysteries of the universe, and even gained an understanding of things like time travel and rebirth.

Because of her mother's influence, she was no stranger to the 1970s.

The Empress Dowager's experience was fantastical. She said that before she traveled to their dynasty, she suddenly had a space. Xu Xinning never went into that space, but she ate and used a lot of things from it.

The Empress Dowager said that she originally thought she would travel back to the 1960s or 70s, so she prepared a lot of things that she would need in the 1960s or 70s. Later, she didn't know how she ended up in their dynasty by some twist of fate.

In Xu Xinning's memory, her mother had instilled in her a lot of ideas about the advantages and disadvantages of the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

Since Xu Xinning regained her memories of her past life, she sometimes wonders if her arrival in this era is because she was too deeply poisoned by her mother in her previous life.
