Lin Ying was off work today, and she arrived at the door early this morning with a basket of steamed buns, followed by her two sons who were just burdens with her children.
She had so much gossip to share with Xu Xinning; after holding it in for so many days, she was finally able to rest.
When Lin Ying arrived, Mu Jingheng and his family had just returned from their workout. Seeing her carrying so many steamed buns, they joked, "What's wrong, sister-in-law? Did you get into a fight with Jiang Juecheng and come to your parents' house to complain?"
Lin Ying's youngest son, being rather simple-minded, grinned broadly upon hearing that a fight had broken out, revealing his tiny teeth, and even parroted Mu Jingheng's tone, saying, "They're fighting! They're fighting!"
Mu Jingheng was amused by the child, picked him up with one hand, and then played a game of tossing him up in the air, asking as he did so, "Why are you so happy when your dad and mom are fighting?"
The children were provoked and burst into laughter, shouting "Let's fight! Let's fight!"
Lin Ying's eldest son was a little envious of his younger brother, since his brother had taken away all the benefits that used to belong to him after his brother was born.
But he also felt sorry for his younger brother's silly appearance. If their parents fought, their family would be finished. He didn't know what his silly brother was so happy about. It was so worrying!
Out of sight, out of mind, he quickly went to find the five little lucky ones of the Mu family.
Lin Ying loved coming to the Mu family's house the most, because the two brats there never clung to her.
When the aunt saw that Lin Ying had brought so many steamed buns, she laughed and said, "Did you bring all the steamed buns from home?"
Lin Ying: "How could that be? I left them enough to eat. Auntie, did you make Hu spicy soup? I want to eat your Hu spicy soup. I've been so busy lately, only your Hu spicy soup can cure me."
Auntie: "Want some spicy soup? That's easy! Wait here, Auntie will make it for you."
Lin Ying immediately flattered, "No wonder I'm so close to you! It's because you're willing to spoil me."
The aunt was so charmed by Lin Ying that her mouth stretched from ear to ear with a smile.
Xu Xinning was setting breakfast on the table when she glanced at Lin Ying with a smile. This person is getting better and better at acting cute; she must have learned it all from Jiang Juecheng, right?
After flattering the aunt, Lin Ying moved closer to Xu Xinning and said in a cheeky tone, "I saw you peeking at me. If you want to look, just look openly. Why do you have to peek? Has your sister gotten even prettier?"
Xu Xinning pretended to look Lin Ying carefully and asked, "What have you been up to lately?"
Lin Ying was startled by Xu Xinning's seriousness, and her hand unconsciously touched her face. Could it be that the divine doctor had discovered something wrong with her body?
Lin Ying stammered, "I haven't been doing anything special. I've been incredibly busy lately, lots of night shifts and surgeries. Sister, have you noticed anything wrong?"
Xu Xinning nodded seriously.
Lin Ying was genuinely frightened and asked with wide eyes, "What's wrong?"
Xu Xinning: "You've become shameless again."
Lin Ying didn't react for a moment, but Mu Beichen suddenly burst into laughter after hearing it. He felt that his mother's skills were getting deeper and deeper, and she could spout nonsense with a straight face.
After being amused by Mu Beichen's smile, Lin Ying realized that she had been tricked by her own sister.
She was terrified. She'll never tease the miracle doctor again; he can kill her with just a few words.
After washing his hands, Grandpa Mu saw Lin Ying and asked with a smile, "Did you come alone?"
Lin Ying chuckled, "How could that be? Aren't there two little burdens with us?"
Grandpa Mu liked Lin Ying very much. He thought the girl was lively and had a good temper, and he especially liked talking to her.
Grandpa Mu: "Why didn't those four come with you?"
Lin Ying: "Maybe they're too embarrassed to come? It wouldn't be appropriate if they all came."
Upon hearing this, Mu Zhenting replied, "They've come to no good. Are they now unable to save face?"
Just then, Grandpa Jiang's loud voice rang out: "Are you making hot and sour soup? Oh my! Old Mu, your family's food is really good. Luckily, I caught you in time."
Mu Zhenting laughed: "Speak of the devil and he appears."
Lin Ying's eldest son chimed in, "Grandpa, that's my great-grandfather. My great-grandfather wasn't named Cao Cao."
Mu Beichen glanced at it and muttered, "Idiot!"
Lin Ying's eldest son was indignant and shouted, "My great-grandfather was named Cao Cao, and my great-great-grandfather was named Jiang Tianpei."
Grandpa Mu and Mu Zhenting burst into laughter. Grandpa Mu felt like he was laughing so hard he was about to cry. This Jiang family lad was too funny.
This was the first time Xu Xinning had heard of Grandpa Jiang's name. She was more familiar with him as Jiang the Cannon or Jiang the Bold.
I heard that Chiang Kai-shek was originally in an artillery company responsible for carrying cannons. At that time, cannons were scarce, so as long as the cannon was there, the cannon was there; even if the man was not there, the cannon had to be protected.
Later, as Mr. Jiang became bold and meticulous, his position rose higher and higher, and so the nicknames "Jiang the Cannon" and "Jiang the Bold" stuck.
However, Old Master Mu often called him the Immortal Old Man.
Xu Xinning never asked. In her heart, Grandpa Jiang was a remarkable elder, so she never knew that Grandpa Jiang was the famous Jiang Tianpei.
Grandpa Jiang entered the kitchen just in time to hear his great-grandson's words. He walked over, patted his great-grandson's head, and laughed, "Is your great-grandfather's name more famous than Cao Cao's?"
Lin Ying's eldest son proudly raised his head and said, "Of course, my great-grandfather is the most amazing."
Grandpa Jiang patted the child's head a few more times with delight and said, "You little rascal."
When Grandpa Jiang arrived, his three followers naturally followed.
The three of them carried their own breakfast, which could be considered as bringing their own food. What they needed was the lively atmosphere of the Mu family to make their meal more enjoyable.
A house becomes lively when there are children. Lin Ying has brought the children to the Mu family. What's the point of them eating then?
Why don't we all just bring our own food?
When the Jiang family arrived, the Mu family's large round table was overflowing.
Xu Laosan and Chen Jianguo went downstairs and saw a bustling crowd.
Chen Jianguo and Jiang Juecheng were quite familiar with each other, but Old Master Jiang and Jiang's father had only met twice, so Chen was still a little apprehensive.
I didn't expect the Jiang family and the Mu family to have such a good relationship, somewhat like the Chen family and the Xu family.
When Mu Leyu saw Chen Jianguo, he immediately introduced him to everyone: "This is our other uncle, his name is Chen Jianguo. He and my third uncle both went to university."
Chen Jianguo greeted the elders with a blush on his face.
Grandpa Mu: "Please sit down, please sit down. All the other breakfasts are ready, except for the spicy soup. Please eat first."
Grandpa Mu likes to eat douzhi (fermented mung bean juice) with jiaoquan (deep-fried dough rings). When Mu Jingheng went out for a run this morning, he bought three servings. He originally wanted to have one for himself, but when Grandpa Jiang came, he gave his serving to Grandpa Jiang.
It was a rare treat for Grandpa Jiang, as he was the only one in his family who enjoyed drinking it. So, to avoid any special treatment, douzhi (fermented mung bean juice) was rarely served in the Jiang family.
Grandpa Jiang's eyes lit up when he saw the fermented mung bean juice and fried dough rings; he couldn't remember the last time he had eaten them.
