Chapter 111 Silly Daya proposes marriage

After finishing her business, Xu Xinning breathed a sigh of relief. She patted Xu Daya's face and said with a smile, "Enjoy your life to the fullest. You'll like it."

Xu Daya thought Xu Xinning was a devil. She never knew that anyone could use such insidious methods. She regretted offending Xu Xinning. If she hadn't offended her, she wouldn't have suffered such cruel persecution.

She wanted to beg Xu Xinning to let her go, but she couldn't make a sound. She wanted to cry, but her face was smiling.

After doing what she wanted to do, Xu Xinning turned around and left gracefully.

My mood isn't exactly great, but it's not heavy either.

To Xu Xinning's surprise, when she arrived home, she saw Mu Jingheng waiting at the gate.

What's so heartwarming about that?

Seeing Xu Xinning standing at a distance watching him, Mu Jingheng took a few steps forward, silently took Xu Xinning's hand and entered the courtyard, then pulled her into his room without her consent.

Xu Xinning did not resist and just followed him.

The night was quiet, with only the sound of the cane hitting the ground.

As soon as they entered the room, Mu Jingheng pulled Xu Xinning into his arms. He held her like that, gently patting her back, offering no words of comfort, yet seemingly providing the best possible solace.

Xu Xinning obediently leaned against him. She had to admit that this feeling was really good. It was as if no matter how chaotic the world outside was, only his embrace was the safest place.

But a moment later, Mu Jingheng noticed that Xu Xinning was crying.

Mu Jingheng lowered his head and gently kissed away all her tears. He couldn't bear to see her sad, and he hoped that her life would always be happy and smooth.

After a very long time, Xu Xinning suddenly said in a hoarse voice, "I used very vicious methods to punish her."

Mu Jingheng stroked her back affectionately and said softly, "No matter what methods you use, you can't beat her vicious heart."

Xu Xinning: "Do you think Grandpa and Grandma will be sad if they find out?"

Mu Jingheng: "If they find out what she did to you, Grandpa and Grandma will only resent her. Xin'er~"

Xu Xinning: "Hmm?"

Mu Jingheng: "Don't think too much. Just be happy from now on. I will do my best to protect you."

Xu Xinning was a little touched, her nose tingled, and she replied softly, "I will protect you too."

Mu Jingheng felt a surge of warmth in his heart. His heart had been cold for decades, but now it seemed to have finally warmed up again.

She tightened her embrace and replied, "Okay!"

Xu Yaoqiang acted quickly. He had a matchmaker find a husband for Xu Daya. Apart from the fact that he wanted Xu Daya to marry far away, he didn't say anything else.

The man the matchmaker introduced to Xu Daya was from a coastal village in a neighboring county. Although it was from a neighboring county, it was neither too far nor too close to Xu's village.

That village is across the sea from Xujia Village. It only takes about twenty minutes to cross by ferry, but it's much farther by car.

Although they are separated by the sea, no one usually travels between them, so no ships pass through.

No matter what, Xu Yaoqiang was still soft-hearted towards Xu Daya. Life in that village wasn't too bad; during the three years of natural disasters, they could fill their stomachs with food from the sea.

When the man's party arrived, Xu Yaoqiang didn't tell anyone. What he didn't expect was that Xu Daya would suddenly become an idiot.

It's impossible for Xu Yaoqiang not to feel sorry for her, after all, she's his only daughter, but when he thinks about her wickedness, he feels that things might be alright as they are now.

Xu Yaoqiang treated those people to a good meal and expressed his apologies with the utmost sincerity. Fortunately, the matchmakers were all acquaintances, and she knew that Xu Daya's condition must have occurred in the last couple of days. She also put in a lot of good words for them, so they didn't hold it against him.

It is said that there is no problem that cannot be solved at the dinner table. Although the two sides could not become in-laws, they saw that Xu Daya was good-looking, and they started to act as matchmakers.

They say there was a widower in their village, a very good man, just a bit old. In his younger years, he often went to sea to make a living, which delayed his marriage. Later, he used all his savings to get married, but his wife was frail and sickly, and died in childbirth.

With all the family savings gone and his wife gone, it's even harder for a widower to find a wife.

Although Xu Daya is mentally challenged, she is beautiful and seems to be in good health, so having children shouldn't be a problem for her. The other party thinks that the widower would be happy to have children.

Xu Yaoqiang sighed, feeling that this was the only way.

After the man returned home, he brought the widower to his door the next day.

The widower was thirty-two years old, dark-skinned, thin, and a bit short, looking rather old.

Xu Yaoqiang was extremely dissatisfied, but given Xu Daya's situation, what else could he complain about?

Xu Daya was very resistant; she desperately rejected the idea in her heart. How could she marry such an old man?

But she could only think about it in her mind; her body could not be controlled by her thoughts.

Xu Daya panicked and wanted to scream, to cry out, and desperately tried to control her body, but no matter how hard she tried, it was all in vain.

Xu Daya exhausted herself, which, in the eyes of outsiders, was nothing more than a fool's incomprehensible act.

When Grandma Xu and Grandpa Xu heard that Xu Yaoqiang had found a husband for Xu Daya, although they didn't think Xu Yaoqiang would sell his daughter like Niu Zhaodi did, they didn't trust his judgment. If he had good judgment, he wouldn't have married a woman like Niu Zhaodi in the first place, which ultimately made him look like a ghost.

When Grandma Xu and Grandpa Xu arrived, they saw Xu Daya sitting on the threshold of the courtyard gate. They didn't know what she was thinking, but she was staring into the distance without moving.

Xu Daya looked perfectly normal, so neither Grandma Xu nor Grandpa Xu noticed anything amiss.

Grandma Xu thought that Xu Daya had some opinions about the marriage proposal, so she went over and called her.

Xu Daya seemed not to hear Old Mrs. Xu's calls and remained in her original position.

Grandma Xu found it strange, so she patted her shoulder.

Xu Daya finally reacted, but when she looked up at Old Madam Xu, she gave her a very strange smile, and then her mouth made a strange sound, her eyes were empty.

Grandma Xu was so frightened that she took several steps back.

Grandpa Xu immediately helped Grandma Xu up, and exclaimed in surprise, "What's wrong with this child? How did she become like this after just a few days?"

Xu Daya seemed to be cooperating with Grandpa Xu, chuckling happily, with a suspicious liquid dripping from the corner of her mouth.

Grandma Xu pressed her hand to her heart, unable to understand how this perfectly healthy person had become like this. No wonder her son was in such a hurry to marry her off.
