Extra Chapter 1 of Xu Lao San

Lately, the people around me have been acting strangely. It seems like they're always avoiding talking about someone in front of me. I know who that person is—isn't it Chen Jianguo?

I'm very curious about who this person is. According to what I overheard, he must be a very remarkable hero.

I suspect this person might be related to my hospitalization; perhaps my family didn't tell me because they were afraid I would be traumatized.

If they don't want to tell me, then they don't have to. It's good to be a little oblivious sometimes. My family's intentions are all for my own good, and I should be grateful.

My dad, who's usually so busy, actually came to see me. Looks like my hospital stay wasn't a bad thing! It's rare to see the old man pay so much attention to me.

I still remember their lie that I was picked up from the latrine. Perhaps every naughty child has been lied to like that by their family. But isn't it a bit too much to call me a piece of shit?

Why did the worry in the old man's eyes move me to tears?

I told him I would go back to Xujia Village with him. I got into Kyoto University, so I had to go back and show off. My grandparents would probably hold a grand ancestral worship ceremony, right?

Back when my older sister went to university, became a university teacher, and even represented the country in medical exchanges with foreign experts, my grandparents wanted to worship their ancestors. However, the country's policies at that time did not allow it. I remember that my grandparents later secretly worshipped their ancestors in the middle of the night, and even pulled me to kneel and pray with them, asking the ancestors to bless me so that I would be as successful as my sister in the future.

Back then, I thought my grandparents were talking nonsense. How could our family have all the good things? How hard-working must our ancestors have been?

Hehe, it turns out that my ancestors were really, really hardworking, otherwise how could all the good things have really fallen into our family?

To my surprise, the old man wouldn't let me go back. He even unusually gave me over two hundred yuan, telling me to go out and travel during the holiday.

Although I really want to go back to my hometown, the temptation to go out and see the beautiful landscape is also very strong.

I packed my bags, shook off Mu Jingshu who was always following me around, and began my solo journey.

My brother-in-law is truly a brother-in-law; he gave me a camera and bought me several rolls of film, which were exactly what I needed on the journey.

My first stop was the special economic zone in the south. I wanted to see just how fast the country's economy was developing. Every time I listened to Uncle Xu's boastful talk, I felt really eager to see it.

My sister bought me a plane ticket and even had my brother Xiao Ning take me to the airport. This was my first time flying.

This plane ticket is really expensive; it must cost the equivalent of two months' salary for an average person.

But it was really worth it! The feeling of flying in the sky was wonderful! The white clouds looked like fluffy cotton balls, the sunlight was dazzling, and the sky was incredibly blue. All the fields, mountains, and sea below turned into beautiful patches of color.

When I got off the plane, I was in a daze, feeling like my feet were stepping on soft cotton.

I didn't expect Uncle Kuang to come pick me up; my brother-in-law must have told him beforehand.

My family must be very worried about me going out alone, right?

It's not very safe outside, there are so many pickpockets, especially at the train station. No matter how tightly you cover your money, those pickpockets seem to have X-ray vision.

"Uncle Kuang, why did you, such a busy person, have to come to pick me up?"

Kuang Guangzhi laughed heartily and patted my shoulder, but he was really strong.

"You've grown so fast! I remember the last time I saw you you were just a little kid, and now you've grown so tall. Want to compare?"

Kuang Guangzhi came closer to me and gestured with his hand, saying, "You brat, you're actually taller than me. But your family really knows how to grow tall; the men are handsome and the women are beautiful."

I love to hear that. Everyone in my family is indeed good-looking, especially my sister. I doubt you could find another woman like her in the whole country.

Kuang Guangzhi has changed a lot since then. He was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, black trousers, and his leather shoes were polished to a high shine, which matched his hair, which was also combed to a high shine. He probably used up a whole bottle of hair oil, and he wasn't worried about it being sticky.

Compared to his clothing, Kuang Guangzhi's overall demeanor is even more striking, exuding charm in every gesture.

I leaned closer to him and teased, "Uncle, you're incredibly charming now!"

Kuang Guangzhi teased me with a smile, "How so?"

Me: "He exudes the charm of a mature man."

Kuang Guangzhi laughed and put his arm around my shoulder: "You rascal! Come on, let your uncle take you to taste the sea."

I don't know which country Kwong Kwong-chi's car was imported from, but it looks really high-end and is much more comfortable to ride in than a Jeep.

Money is a wonderful thing. One day I will earn lots and lots of money, and then I will get myself and my older sister a car like this.

Driving a car like this for a spin must be really cool.

Then we can bring a few kids, and Mu Jingshu, the loudmouth, and maybe Shao Shuhua, the little devil?

As the car drove along, there were many places under construction with skyscrapers, but the whole city was really new.

Kuang Guangzhi took me to a very high-end hotel. The hotel lobby was filled with many marine creatures. I thought they were kept for ornamental purposes, so I took out my camera to take pictures.

I never expected that this was for customers to order food. I suddenly felt like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden for the first time.

Kwong Kwong-chi: "Order whatever you want to eat. This is my own restaurant, so don't be shy."

"Your own restaurant?" I exclaimed.

Kwong Kwong-chi: "Speaking of which, it's all your brother-in-law's business. I'm his head manager here."

My brother-in-law and his family didn't hide this from me. I know my brother-in-law has businesses in many places, but I don't know what those businesses are.

However, I know that Kwong Kwong-chi is not just a general manager; he owns shares in all of my brother-in-law's businesses here.

"Uncle, you're too modest. Everyone knows you're partners. Calling yourself the head housekeeper is beneath your dignity."

Kuang Guangzhi: "What do you mean by lowering yourself? If it weren't for your brother-in-law, would I be where I am today? Third brother! I heard you got into Kyoto University. Study hard and learn from your brother-in-law. He's the most amazing person I've ever met. I admire him more than anyone else in my life. His vision and perspective are unmatched."

"I didn't expect you to speak so highly of my brother-in-law. But in my opinion, you are both very capable. You are the pioneers of the country's economic development."

Kuang Guangzhi: "As expected of a scholar, the way you speak is truly different. After dinner, I'll take you on a tour of the company. We've hired many college graduates; you should have something in common."

I'd also love to visit my brother-in-law's company here; my aunt says it's amazing.
