That night, the cold moon had just climbed to the treetops when half of its outline was obscured by the floating clouds in the sky.
The cool sunlight shone through the floating clouds, spilling out and casting a cold light over the gradually quieting Renhe Hospital, giving it a chilly feel.
Xie Xiaoai lay quietly on the hospital bed, her eyes tightly closed, feigning sleep.
Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a silvery-gray halo around her bandaged face, making her look exceptionally eerie.
Near midnight, the nurse on night duty suddenly pushed open the door to the ward.
Xie Xiaoai, whose nerves were on edge, trembled involuntarily when she heard the door open. Her legs shook uncontrollably.
"Dean, the patient's legs seem to be spasming. Could it be a postoperative complication?"
The nurse thoughtfully tucked Xie Xiaoai in and asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"The patient's legs were not injured, and generally speaking, there will be no postoperative complications."
Jiang Fangshu's sharp eyes stared intently at Xie Xiaoai, who was lying motionless on the hospital bed, and he immediately realized that she was pretending to be asleep.
The nurse nodded, slightly bewildered, and then asked:
"Dean, should we change the patient's dressing again now?"
“Since the patient is already asleep, it’s fine to change the bed tomorrow morning,” Jiang Fangshu said, and then walked out of the ward first.
"Okay, I understand."
Hearing Jiang Fangshu say this, the nurse was happy to have some free time. She picked up the medical tray in her hand, humming a little tune, and followed him out of the ward.
After the nurse quietly closed the door, the dark room was filled only with Xie Xiaoai's gradually calming breathing.
After waiting for a while, seeing that Jiang Fangshu still hadn't returned, she suddenly started to have doubts.
Could Ling Mo's deduction be wrong, and Jiang Fangshu not be Su Yu's accomplice?
Just as she was racking her brains trying to figure it out, a series of light footsteps suddenly came from outside the corridor.
Immediately afterwards, there was a series of rustling sounds of doors opening.
As she watched the lock slowly turn open, Xie Xiaoai quickly closed her eyes, lay down properly on the bed, pursed her lips tightly, and her heart was pounding.
At this moment, she could fully sense the approaching danger.
Feeling so helpless that I wanted to jump out of the window to escape, but I didn't have the courage or guts to do so.
Furthermore, she had already promised Ling Mo that she would do her best to put on a good performance, so even though she was so nervous that she was sweating profusely, she could only grit her teeth and persevere.
Jiang Fangshu, who had secretly sneaked into the ward, had already noticed Xie Xiaoai's panic.
He secretly pondered that Xie Xiaoai must have sensed something beforehand, which was why she seemed so flustered.
Now that she has discovered the clues, he will not give her any chance to speak.
At the same time, Xie Xiaoai felt her scalp tingle from Jiang Fangshu's two chilling gazes. Her eyes involuntarily narrowed halfway, and she silently peered at Jiang Fangshu, who stood straight in front of the hospital bed, seemingly shrouded in a thick black mist.
Even with just a blurry glance, Xie Xiaoai felt a bone-chilling horror.
Seeing Jiang Fangshu thrust the syringe into her left eyeball, Xie Xiaoai's pupils trembled violently. Without thinking of anything else, she rolled away to avoid the syringe that Jiang Fangshu intended to pierce her eyeball.
"What...what are you doing?"
Xie Xiaoai's voice was extremely hoarse as she tried to get off the bed, but Jiang Fangshu grabbed her hair and slammed her hard onto the hospital bed.
Jiang Fangshu's gaze hardened further as he coldly interrogated Xie Xiaoai:
"Tell me! How did you know I would come?"
As he spoke, Jiang Fangshu plunged the syringe into the back of her neck.
Droplets of blood spurted out, leaving behind blooming red plum blossoms on the back of his hand.
Feeling a stinging pain in the back of her neck, Xie Xiaoai secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As if all her strength had been drained, she collapsed weakly onto the hospital bed.
This morning, she had already taken the antidote Ling Mo gave her. Even if Jiang Fangshu stuck a few more needles into her body, her life would not be in danger.
Of course, this is on the premise that no further harm is done to her eyes; otherwise, even if she is not poisoned to death, she will most likely become blind.
Jiang Fangshu coldly looked at Xie Xiaoai, who was lying motionless on the hospital bed, and then asked again:
"How did you know I was coming? Did someone say something to you? If you don't tell me, I guarantee you won't see the sun tomorrow morning."
Xie Xiaoai was struggling to find a response when a sudden inspiration struck her. She came up with a line that would persuade Jiang Fangshu. Suppressing her fear, she slowly turned her head and mumbled incoherently:
"Speak, I'll talk! Please don't kill me."
"You have no right to bargain, speak up now." Jiang Fangshu grabbed Xie Xiaoai's hair again, with such force that it seemed he wanted to peel her scalp off as well.
After being tortured like this, Xie Xiaoai's fear slowly transformed into a raging fire.
After calming her turbulent emotions somewhat, she began to ramble on:
"Half an hour ago, I dreamed that a long-haired woman kept repeating the same sentence in my ear. I didn't want to listen, but she peeled off her disfigured face and told me to look directly into her eyes and always remember her advice."
Upon hearing Xie Xiaoai's words, Jiang Fangshu's alarm bells went off instantly, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.
Why does a long-haired woman appear in Xie Xiao'ai's dream for no apparent reason?
Could it be that Shi Ying appeared to her in a dream?
