He had indeed explained this to her before. However, his explanation was rather perfunctory, only saying lightly that "it has nothing to do with Lu Ruoyu," without mentioning at all why they were so close.
After realizing Qin Beiming's feelings for her, Ling Mo could no longer be as carefree as before.
It's no exaggeration to say that even now, her mind is still filled with the languid image of Lu Ruoyu with her arm around his neck, chatting and laughing with him...
What she was even more eager to know was why Qin Beiming, who had always been so caring towards her, had suddenly changed his personality overnight, treating her as if she were a stranger and ignoring her completely.
Did he suddenly change his mind?
Or perhaps, he never cared about her at all?
Ling Mo waited anxiously for Qin Beiming's answer.
However, to her great disappointment, his answer was completely off-topic.
Judging from his attitude in admitting his mistake, he was indeed very sincere. But upon closer examination of the meaning behind his words, it felt as if he hadn't answered at all; he hadn't uttered a single word that should have been said.
The reason she had this misconception was that Qin Beiming was as innocent as a blank sheet of paper when it came to matters of the heart.
Lacking practical experience in dating and with a rather straightforward, masculine mindset, even after cramming on dozens of books about relationships and romance, he still easily slipped up at the most crucial moment.
And so, Qin Beiming failed to grasp the key point at this moment.
He thought that opening up to her and revealing his true feelings would resolve her inner conflict, but he felt the occasion wasn't formal enough and refused to say it.
Not only that, he even defied all reason and, on the verge of being beaten, spread his wings like a roc, straightened his face, and spoke frankly:
"Mo Mo, I think you might be taking this too seriously. I admit that I have indeed hidden things from you in many ways, such as my family background and other aspects. However, these concealments were not malicious. Putting yourself in my shoes, haven't you also hidden things from me? Besides being the eldest daughter of the Ling family, you must have other identities that I don't know about, right?"
"..."
Ling Mo was taken aback by Qin Beiming's sudden assertiveness and stood there dumbfounded, like a child being scolded by an elder for doing something wrong.
At that moment, although she was a little unaccustomed to Qin Beiming's solemn appearance, she still consciously reflected on herself.
Upon reflection, she was indeed as he said, and she did not openly and honestly tell him all her secrets without reservation.
She never intended to tell Qin Beiming about her little-known pseudonyms.
Before this, she hadn't felt anything was amiss, but now that Qin Beiming had said that, she realized that her demands on him might have been a bit too harsh...
Qin Beiming knew he shouldn't continue speaking under these circumstances, but for some reason, he inexplicably blurted out his true feelings:
“I admit I did make some mistakes. From now on, I won’t hide anything from you, no matter what. However, if you really want to dig deeper, you have quite a few secrets. I’m not saying this to blame you. I just think there’s no need to get angry about the authenticity of the necklace.”
"I..."
Ling Mo hesitated, wanting to speak up and defend himself.
The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them back.
The reason she kept quiet about her many identities was not because she was worried that if Qin Beiming knew all her secrets, he would have something to use against her or find her weaknesses.
She was just a little worried that once her identity as a so-called "divine healer" was exposed, her own aura would be too dazzling, thus greatly overshadowing his.
However, she simply couldn't bring herself to say it.
Even if it were true, she couldn't seriously tell him how outstanding she was. She was only hiding so many secret identities because she was worried that he would feel inferior.
"MoMo, did I say something a little too harsh?"
When Qin Beiming saw that Ling Mo hadn't answered for a long time, his heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly realized that he shouldn't have added fuel to the fire while she was already angry.
The problem is, what's done is done.
He's already said it, so there's no way he can take it back, is there?
Left with no other choice, Qin Beiming could only wait anxiously for her reply.
After a long silence and much mental preparation, Ling Mo slowly raised his eyes and said in a low voice:
"After careful reflection, I realized that I had indeed been being unreasonable."
"No... I didn't mean to blame you."
Qin Beiming realized that he had indeed spoken too harshly just now.
He was burning with anxiety, but didn't know how to smooth things over. He could only hope that Chen Guo could buy the washboard back quickly...
Ling Mo clearly didn't have time to delve into the deeper meaning of his words, and instead went straight to the point:
"I was indeed at fault in this matter. I shouldn't have fallen for you for no reason, nor should I have foolishly hoped to become your only favorite, and I shouldn't have bothered you after seeing you and Lu Ruoyu being affectionate."
I did come with a lot of anger, but I didn't come specifically to vent it. I just wanted to ask you directly, do you even have a place for me in your heart?
"Yes! My whole heart belongs to you, how could I not?"
Qin Beiming then realized that he had completely misunderstood her meaning, and felt so guilty that he didn't know what to say.
He originally thought that Ling Mo came to find him simply to investigate the authenticity of the "Heart of the Deep Sea".
