Chapter 229 Catching a Turtle in a Jar

In a daze, Ouyang Bin had a vague doubt that the person on the other end of the phone was really Xuan Wei herself.

In his mind, Xuanwei was nothing more than a short-sighted person who had a lot of ruthlessness but no brains.

Therefore, when he realized that she had tricked him, he felt not only anger but also disbelief.

After a moment of contemplation, Ouyang Bin suddenly asked:

"Xuanwei, do you remember how we used to communicate? Otherwise, could you send me that damn promise letter using the same contact method as before?"

Ling Mo had long since figured out Ouyang Bin's suspicious nature and knew that he was already suspicious of her identity.

However, she showed no sign of anxiety, lazily holding the phone with her other hand and speaking unhurriedly:

“Mr. Ouyang, are you joking? The Zhan family has suffered such a great misfortune. I should put aside all my important matters and devote myself to the aftermath. Sending a package at this critical juncture would attract too much attention and inevitably be targeted. I can’t do something so dangerous. The only solution now is for you to come to our door in person.”

After hearing Ling Mo accurately state the contact information they had used before, Ouyang Bin finally dispelled his doubts.

However, since he started his business, almost no one has dared to threaten him to his face.

At this moment, how could he possibly stand being coerced by a mere, inexperienced young girl?

Suppressing the rage welling up inside him, Ouyang Bin finally mustered his courage and said through gritted teeth, each word distinct and deliberate:

"I'm warning you one last time, send the safe here obediently. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude."

Ling Mo ignored the anger in his words and sneered:

“Mr. Ouyang, I’ll remind you one last time: it’s best to arrive before noon, otherwise I can’t guarantee what crazy things I might do. Also, remember to keep a low profile; if we’re seen by someone, we’ll be in deep trouble.”

"Since you know this time is extremely sensitive, why do you insist that I come in person?" Ouyang Bin frowned, his face turning ashen with anger.

"I haven't seen much of the world. If we arrange another location, who knows if I'll fall into your trap?" Ling Mo said confidently, and then abruptly ended the call.

"Outrageous! How dare you speak to me like that..."

After being hung up on, Ouyang Bin was consumed by rage. He gripped the phone tightly in his hand and smashed it to pieces with a "crack".

Seeing this, AK39 beside him offered a fawning suggestion:

"Should I personally go and crush that little girl's skull?"

"It's best not to act rashly before we figure out what's in the safe." Ouyang Bin shook his head, and after careful consideration, slowly said, "Fine, I'll go there myself. She's just a greenhorn girl, easy to deal with, one shot will solve the problem."

Considering that Xuan Wei had no one backing her up, Ouyang Bin finally let his guard down, changed into a low-key outfit, and even carried a pistol, confidently "going to the banquet alone".

...

At noon, Ouyang Bin hurriedly got out of the black van. After looking around and seeing that there were no suspicious people around, he pressed down the brim of his wide hat with one hand and hurriedly knocked on the half-closed side door in the northwest corner of the Zhan family's old house.

"Please come in."

Once again disguised as "Xuan Wei," Ling Mo suddenly opened her eyes and slowly poured a cup of tea for the late-arriving Ouyang Bin.

Ouyang Bin glanced disapprovingly at Xuan Wei, who sat regally in the main seat of the hall, behaving like the lady of the house, and said in a deep, cold voice:

"Where is the safe? Hand it over immediately."

"Mr. Ouyang, haste makes waste. I'm so sorry to have troubled you to come all this way at midday. How about you have a cup of tea to soothe your throat first?"

As Ling Mo spoke, he immediately pushed the teacup toward him.

Ouyang Bin glanced indifferently at the tea surface covered with white foam, secretly thinking that the tea was most likely poisonous, and naturally he could not easily touch it.

After letting out a displeased snort, he sat down opposite Ling Mo and said sternly:

"You better not try anything funny in front of me, or I have a thousand ways to kill you."

"What if I insist on using a few moves?"

Ling Mo raised an eyebrow, slowly raised her hand wrapped in a cast, and showed him the crystal ball pendant she was clutching tightly in her palm.

She originally planned to hypnotize Ouyang Bin directly in order to extract useful information from him.

Unfortunately, his composure was beyond the reach of ordinary people.

Hypnosis was completely ineffective against him.

At this moment, Ouyang Bin's attention was completely elsewhere than on the crystal ball pendant.

He stared wide-eyed in astonishment as "Xuanwei's" severely fractured arm moved nimbly back and forth under the thick plaster cast.

A moment later, he finally realized he had fallen into a trap. In a panic, he drew the short gun hidden at his waist, pointed it directly at Ling Mo's forehead, and said in horror:

"You are not Xuan Wei!"

Before Ouyang Bin could finish speaking, Zhan Hanjue leaped out from the shadows, kicking the pistol out of Ouyang Bin's hand with one foot and striking his kneecap with the other, forcing his knee to slam heavily onto the cold ground. "You old thief Ouyang, who gave you permission to point a gun at my precious daughter?"

At the same time, fearing that Ouyang Bin might be hiding a deadly weapon, Qin Beiming stepped in front of Ling Mo and said coldly:

"Ouyang Bin, your death is near."
