"Why aren't you struggling anymore? Or is it that deep down you've been longing for me to do something to you?" Huo Yunting's anger intensified when he saw that Song Xingwan had stopped struggling.
Song Xingwan hadn't expected Huo Yunting to say such hurtful things, and felt even more wronged. She replied in a muffled voice:
"You've misunderstood. I just want to pay back the debt I owe you as soon as possible."
Huo Yunting stared intently at Song Xingwan beneath him, who didn't even dare to open her eyes to look at him. He barely managed to suppress his surging anger and coldly retorted:
"Do you really think you can pay it back?"
"I'm sorry. My abilities are limited, and I may never be able to repay this debt in my lifetime. If what you want is my body, you can..."
"Shut up."
Huo Yunting could no longer listen to her continue.
What he wanted was never her body.
He just wanted to win her heart back, nothing more.
After calming down a bit, Huo Yunting tried to communicate with her peacefully:
"Stop arguing, okay? Go back to your studies first, and I'll take care of everything else for you."
"I...I don't want to study. I just want to earn my own business with my own hands." Song Xingwan's voice was soft, but her attitude was very firm.
From the moment she was kicked out of the Huo family by Huo's mother, she realized that only by becoming a stronger version of herself could she possibly escape the fate of being abandoned and discarded.
"It seems you're determined to sever ties with me?"
Huo Yunting became increasingly agitated as he noticed Song Xingwan's desperate attempt to distance herself from him.
In desperation, he even considered forcing the issue, hoping to keep her by his side forever...
Outside the private room, Lu Jinjiu, who was half-peeking through the crack in the door, heard the rustling sound of clothes being undressed and excitedly said to Qin Beiming:
"Third Brother, I reckon you won't be able to give away the antidote you have. It seems Brother Ting wants to personally neutralize the antidote's effects for the recipient."
"..."
Qin Beiming pursed his lips and remained silent, his deep eyes fixed on the closed door, lost in thought.
He never intended to interfere in Huo Yunting's private affairs.
But for some reason, he always felt that Huo Yunting's forceful methods would only push people further away.
Out of consideration for their brotherhood of over twenty years, he finally kicked open the locked door.
Startled by the loud banging on the door, Huo Yunting quickly grabbed the suit jacket he had thrown on the ground and covered Song Xingwan with it.
After confirming several times that Song Xingwan's exposed skin was completely covered, he looked displeased at Qin Beiming, who had barged in, his words revealing his displeasure:
"do what?"
"Antidote."
Qin Beiming tossed the antidote into Huo Yunting's arms, but showed no intention of leaving.
Gu Nanfeng and Lu Jinjiu, seeing Huo Yunting's unsatisfied expression, gritted their teeth and tried to drag Qin Beiming out of the private room.
Unexpectedly, Qin Beiming ignored the objections and sat down on the sofa chair, speaking to himself:
"The man in room number four has already confessed. He's a repeat offender who has cheated dozens of naive women. It's more appropriate to hand him over to the police."
"Um."
Huo Yunting handed the antidote to Song Xingwan and was about to drive Qin Beiming and the others out when a series of crisp bell sounds suddenly broke the awkward atmosphere in the private room.
Song Xingwan glanced at her phone screen and saw that it was Ling Mo calling. Unable to control her emotions that she had suppressed for so long, she held the phone and began to sob.
"Mo Mo...Mo Mo, are you almost there?"
"I'll be there in a minute. Wanwan, are you alright?" Upon hearing the crying on the other end of the phone, Ling Mo anxiously swore several times.
Song Xingwan wiped away her tears, sobbing and hiccuping.
"Uh... I'm in room number one. Hurry up, I feel like I can't hold on much longer."
Huo Yunting: "..."
At first, he thought that Song Xingwan was no longer the crybaby she used to be.
Only at this moment did he realize that she simply didn't want to vent her emotions or tell him about her grievances.
Realizing this, Huo Yunting's jealousy intensified.
After she hung up the phone, he couldn't wait to question her:
Who is Mo Mo?
"She is my best friend."
Huo Yunting's face darkened completely: "A man?"
"A woman."
"A woman?"
Huo Yunting's face turned green with anger, and he unconsciously raised his voice, "When you encounter danger, shouldn't you call the person who is more likely to rescue you? Do you think a weak and frail girl can save you?"
"MoMo is very good at fighting."
Song Xingwan glanced at Huo Yunting, who had suddenly become angry, and carefully explained.
"MoMo? She's really good at fighting? Could she be that lady?!" Lu Jinjiu suddenly thought of the thug who had been beaten to a pulp by Ling Mo.
Seeing that Huo Yunting's mood was off, Gu Nanfeng quickly picked up where Lu Jinjiu left off, and looked at Song Xingwan with a smile:
"Miss Song, may I ask if the person you just spoke to was Ling Mo, the eldest daughter of the Shi Jian Group?"
Song Xingwan blinked, looking at Gu Nanfeng in surprise:
How did you know?
"Good heavens! It really is?"
Lu Jinjiu was astonished, muttering to himself, "What a small world! My two sisters-in-law are actually best friends, isn't that unbelievable?!"
Qin Beiming's eyes suddenly lit up, and he asked in a deep voice:
"Miss Song, is your friend on his way?"
Song Xingwan nodded, then looked warily at the stern-faced Qin Beiming, "Do you know Mo Mo?"
