Jiang Yao pursed her lips, her unfinished words lost in the subtly awkward atmosphere.
She turned her head to the side and looked coldly at Ling Mo, who was surrounded by Huo Yunting and the others in the center, her molars grinding together.
"Sister, why are you glaring at my new wife? She looks so well-behaved, don't scare her."
Jiang Yujian saw Jiang Yao staring fiercely at Ling Mo, pouting in dissatisfaction, and suddenly reached out and shook her arm forcefully.
"Let go! You almost broke my arm."
Jiang Yao glared at Jiang Yu unhappily and abruptly pulled her arm away from his grasp.
Ling Mo took in every move the siblings made, and a mocking smile unconsciously crept onto his lips.
She thought to herself that Jiang Yao wasn't a formidable opponent.
Now that we've reached the most crucial stage, she still has the mind to bicker with Jiang Yu.
Noticing Ling Mo's gaze, Jiang Yao didn't bother to hide her disgust, rolling her eyes as if she wanted to reach the sky.
Ling Mo glanced at Jiang Yao's particularly bright and expressive eyes, and couldn't help but chuckle:
"Miss Jiang, is your eye twitching? Would you like me to straighten it out for you?"
"No, that's not it..."
Jiang Yao was still preparing to roll her eyes again when she heard Ling Mo's words, and with Huo Yunting and the others' gazes already focused on her. After rolling her eyes, her out-of-control expression finally returned to normal.
Gu Tingbai watched in surprise as Jiang Yao, usually so dignified, effortlessly switched between lively and erratic expressions, secretly marveling at her:
"Looking at it this way, Jiang Yao and Jiang Yu really do look a bit alike, both a bit silly."
"Of course, they are siblings after all."
Ling Mo raised an eyebrow and ruthlessly stabbed Jiang Yao in the sore spot.
Jiang Yao overheard Gu Tingbai and Ling Mo's whispers, and her face flushed red and then pale, displaying a wide range of emotions.
Gently biting her thin, red lips, Jiang Yao suddenly feigned tears and said in a soft voice:
"Brother Yunting, look at her..."
Before Huo Yunting could speak, Ling Mo scoffed and said without any mercy:
"Miss Jiang, you haven't gotten rid of your habit of pretending to be relatives?"
"Ling Mo, don't go too far!"
Jiang Yao was embarrassed by Ling Mo in front of everyone, losing face and her cheeks turned bright red.
Jiang Yu couldn't understand what Jiang Yao and Ling Mo were saying, but she knew that Jiang Yao seemed to be very angry.
Recalling the ferocious way Jiang Yao would hit and scold him when she was angry, Jiang Yu suddenly shivered and cautiously shrank to the side.
Seeing Jiang Yao's cold, piercing eyes fixed on Ling Mo as if she wanted to devour her whole, Jiang Yu hesitated for a moment, then finally mustered her courage, gently tugged at Jiang Yao's arm, and whispered:
"Sister, if you want to hit someone, hit me instead. Don't bully my beautiful wife. She has such delicate skin, I cherish her dearly."
"You good-for-nothing!"
Jiang Yao never expected that her younger brother would also be so ungrateful. She felt a lump in her throat and almost couldn't speak.
"Wait, whose wife are you calling?"
Gu Tingbai's attention was not originally on Jiang Yao and Jiang Yu, but it took him a while to realize that the beautiful wife Jiang Yu mentioned was most likely referring to Ling Mo. Only then did he take it to heart and become anxious.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yu stretched out his hand without hesitation, pointed directly at Ling Mo, and said with particular seriousness:
"Look, this is my beautiful wife. In a little while, I'm going to kiss her, take off her clothes, and consummate our marriage."
"Dream on! You want my sister Mo to be your wife? Take a piss and look at yourself in the mirror first."
Gu Tingbai, his face full of indignation, stood directly in front of Ling Mo, instinctively raising his fist as if he wanted to fight.
"Xiao Bai, don't ruin Grandpa Lu's birthday banquet."
Gu Nanfeng quickly grabbed Gu Tingbai's arm, pulled him behind him, then turned to greet Jiang Yao with a smile and said in a deep voice:
“Miss Jiang, I hope you will keep your younger brother in check and prevent him from further damaging Miss Ling’s reputation. Miss Ling is pure and innocent, and is still unmarried; her reputation is of utmost importance.”
Jiang Yao hadn't expected even Gu Nanfeng to be so protective of Ling Mo. She felt a mix of jealousy and resentment, and her eyes welled up with tears.
"Brother Nanfeng, can't you guys be reasonable? It was clearly Miss Ling who provoked us first, so why are you still protecting her like this?"
Gu Tingbai couldn't stand girls like Jiang Yao who were always good at playing the victim, so he immediately gave her a piece of his mind:
"You clearly asked for trouble, so why are you acting all aggrieved? Last time when Brother Ting was hospitalized, you and Sister Mo had a big falling out. This time, if you weren't deliberately looking for trouble, why did you insist on staying at the table where Sister Mo was sitting when there are so many tables available?"
"I..."
Jiang Yao was speechless for a moment, completely unsure how to exonerate herself.
Gu Tingbai snorted coldly, then looked at Jiang Yu, who was nestled beside Jiang Yao, staring intently at Ling Mo and grinning foolishly, and said in an unfriendly tone:
"Hey! Listen up, stay away from my sister Mo. Otherwise, I'll smash your head in."
Jiang Yao frowned, and asked angrily:
"Have you all been drugged by Ling Mo?"
She didn't want to argue with someone in public like a shrew, but when she saw Gu Tingbai and the others protecting Ling Mo, she became increasingly uncomfortable. Disregarding her image as a well-bred young lady, she began to spread unfounded rumors about Ling Mo:
"Don't you know her reputation is completely ruined? Just a few days ago, she was photographed by the media having dinner with a male surgeon, and now she's pretending to be an innocent young girl to deceive Brother Yunting. Not only that, I just heard that even the Lion of M Continent is one of her lovers."
