Chapter 142 Abundant Harvests Every Year (The Finale)

Chapter 142 Abundant Harvests Every Year (The Finale)

The snow started falling sometime ago, I don't know.

On the morning of Lunar New Year's Eve, the entire city was bathed in a silvery light.

Yu Qing and Lu Chi woke up from their warm bed, opened the window, and saw a world of white before them, with snowflakes still falling gently.

"Why is it snowing during the Lunar New Year?" Yu Qing muttered in dissatisfaction.

"A timely snow promises a good harvest!" Lu Chi looked out the window quietly, feeling that life was peaceful and serene.

Yu Qing turned around and saw Lu Chi getting up and getting dressed. The clothes were new ones that Li Qiulan had prepared in advance: a red hat, a red scarf, and a red cotton coat, symbolizing prosperity.

Where are you going?

"I'll go out and help."

"Okay, I'm going to sleep in."

Yu Qing watched Lu Chi leave the bedroom, turned over and went back to sleep. Not long after, she heard clanging sounds coming from the kitchen, followed by Li Qiulan's roar: "Get up, it's time to eat tangyuan (sweet rice balls)!"

"They're here."

Yu Qing sat up lazily, yawned, slowly dressed, and walked out of the room. His clothes were the same style as Lu Chi's, and their sizes were basically similar, so Li Qiulan bought two sets at once.

Walking into the living room, Yu Qing saw Lu Chi using a ladder to paste up the couplets. Seeing his clumsy movements, Yu Qing couldn't help but laugh and said, "Let me do it. You hold the ladder for me."

Lu Chi nodded, handed him the ladder, and then stood below, holding onto the ladder and watching.

"How is it? Is it crooked?"

"A little to the left."

"Okay."

Yu Qing quickly finished pasting the couplets, packed up the ladder, and prepared to go back inside, only to see Lu Chi still staring at the couplets.

Yu Qing said lazily, "Don't bother looking at it. What's so interesting about a couplet? Just put it up and that's enough."

"oh!"

Lu Chi took one last look, then turned and followed Yu Qing back into the house.

After dinner, the family sat around the table chatting and eating melon seeds, discussing what to eat that night. Li Qiulan took out two red envelopes from her pocket and gave them to her two sons.

"New Year is here, and so are the red envelopes."

"Mom wishes you abundance and peace every year."

Yu Qing happily accepted the red envelope, and Lu Chi also said a word of blessing before accepting his own red envelope. The amount of money in the red envelope was not much, but it represented the sentiments of an elder.

After accepting the red envelope, Li Qiulan went to the kitchen to prepare the New Year's Eve dinner, and Lu Chi followed to help.

Yu Qing sat by the stove, eating sunflower seeds and playing on her phone.

As soon as he opened QQ, he saw many people sending him blessing messages, and Yu Qing replied to them all.

The class group chat for Class 3 of Jiangcheng No.1 Middle School was also very lively. Lin Yueyue would send out red envelopes in the group from time to time, and everyone would rush to receive them.

Yu Qing also joined in the fun of grabbing money in the group chat. Coincidentally, Lu Chi's phone was also in his hands, so he grabbed two phones at once, doubling his enjoyment. After grabbing the money, he didn't forget to flatter Lin Yueyue, spouting phrases like "auspicious time and day, joy like the wind," "windy years and moonlit nights like a kite," "no worries about food or clothing," and "living in a high-rise rather than a bungalow."

After all, rich people aren't stupid. They've spent money, so we should at least be sensible and provide emotional value.

The moment the flattery was uttered, the group chat went silent.

Yu Qing then belatedly realized that he had sent the message using Lu Chi's phone. Lu Chi had almost never spoken since joining the group, and now this long message had suddenly appeared, leaving everyone completely bewildered.

Yuan Xiu suddenly realized what was happening and cursed in the group chat: "Yu Qing, you shameless bastard, you tried to steal both phones at once."

“I also have two phones. If you’re so capable, why don’t you get two phones too?” Li Fei said.

"You two are a pair of adulterers!" Yuan Xiu roared in a fit of impotent rage.

Yu Qing ignored Yuan Xiu's clamor and instead put down her phone to go help in the kitchen, leaving Li Fei alone to fight the battle in the group chat.

In the evening, the family sat together to eat New Year's Eve dinner.

Li Qiulan prepared a large table full of dishes.

In the living room, the cheerful sounds of the Spring Festival Gala rang out, and on the screen, actors sang and danced, while the hosts' voices were powerful and resonant.

The firecrackers outside kept popping and crackling, each one seemingly announcing the departure of the old era and the arrival of a new one.

"Happy New Year!"

Li Qiulan held up her drink and smiled as she offered her blessings.

"Happy New Year."

Yu Qing and Lu Chi stood up and raised their glasses together.

Amidst the laughter and joy, a warm feeling suddenly welled up in Lu Chi's heart, as if this happiness was the most precious gift bestowed upon him by heaven.

After finishing her meal, Li Qiulan cleaned up the dishes.

Yu Qing couldn't wait to drag Lu Chi out to set off fireworks.

The sky outside was lit up by countless fireworks, and the entire city was enveloped in dazzling colors.

The two arrived at an open space, and Yu Qing excitedly brought out the fireworks that she had prepared beforehand, a whole large box of them.

"Lu Chi, come quick and help!"

Yu Qing called out to Lu Chi.

Lu Chi quickly ran over and, seeing the fireworks in Yu Qing's hand, couldn't help but ask in surprise, "Why did you buy such a big one?"

“This is called ‘Seven-Colored Auspicious Clouds.’ I heard that it looks especially beautiful when it’s released, just like a blooming rainbow. I want to be the most dazzling star in this night sky,” Yu Qing said excitedly.

Although Lu Chi was reserved, he was also infected by Yu Qing's joy, and the two of them arranged the fireworks together.

Yu Qing took out a lighter and carefully lit the fuse.

With a soft sound, flames shot up instantly, dyeing the night sky red, followed by a loud bang, and colorful sparks poured down like a meteor shower.

"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Yu Qing stared in disbelief.

Lu Chi gazed quietly at the magnificent rainbow in the sky, then turned to look into Yu Qing's eyes, the dazzling light reflected in them.

In that instant, time seemed to freeze, all the noise and hustle and bustle temporarily stopped, leaving only those brilliant rays of light illuminating the hearts of the two.

"If only time could stand still at this moment."

Yu Qing watched the fireworks in the sky slowly fade away, as if it were a dream, and said somewhat absentmindedly.

"Fireworks can only display their beauty for a fleeting moment, but our lives have just begun. In the days to come, they will display countless beautiful moments." Lu Chi's gentle voice slowly rang in Yu Qing's ears.

"That's true." Yu Qing seemed to be infected by this warm power, and the disappointment in her heart was swept away. Although the fireworks had faded, their lives were still blooming.

"Let's go home."

"Yes, let's go home."

The two walked side by side on their way home.

Snowflakes are falling from the sky...

Occasionally, a dim streetlamp would illuminate the shadows of the two people.

One belongs to Yu Qing, and the other to Lu Chi.

One belongs to Yu Qing, and the other... belongs to Lu Chi...

Author's Closing Remarks!!

It's finally over! As I wrote the last word, I felt a sense of emptiness, but I decided I still had to say something.

Actually, this book was already finished the moment Xu Zhi entered the hospital. Later, I saw many readers saying they hadn't had enough, so I forced myself to write another 100,000 words. Because I came up with the outline on the spot, I basically updated once a day after that, and the plot wasn't as exciting as the first case.

As for the feud between Lu Chi's parents and Yu Qing's parents, it was hinted at a long time ago, and it will probably be explained in a side story about Lu Chi and Xu Zhi later.

Let me give you a summary. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this book. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the beginning. Because the author used to write male-oriented novels, the character Lu Chi wasn't originally called Lu Chi. She was a female lead. After writing a dozen or so chapters, the author suddenly changed it to a dual male lead story. After the change, the author realized that the character Lin Yueyue was superfluous, so it felt very much like a male-oriented novel, which deterred many readers.

Why did I choose to write for female-oriented content?

Well, the author originally wrote for male-oriented content, but as I was writing, I discovered a very strange phenomenon. Writing for male-oriented content should have a lot of male fans, but the majority of them were female fans. The top three on the fan list were all female fans.

This led the author to seriously doubt whether she was born with a natural talent for female-oriented content, so I decided to venture into this field, which was a bold attempt.

As it turns out, I wasn't.

The author enjoys reading comments. Sometimes he sees abusive comments, and sometimes he sees some very interesting ones. The one that impressed me the most was a comment from a reader: "The author's book is so realistic that I seriously suspect the author has been a man."

Meow meow meow?

Is it possible that the author was originally a man?

The author is not only a man, but also a straight man.

Before writing this book, I had almost never read any books with two male protagonists. The only ones I had read were the anime versions of "Heaven Official's Blessing" and "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation". After writing this book, I specifically searched for some classic books to read, such as "Wilderness" and "Breaking Through the Clouds". Later, when I saw many readers asking about the ending, I even searched for what a happy ending (HE) is and what a bad ending (BE) is.

Okay! I've learned some more strange and interesting new things.

Why did you choose the crime investigation genre?

There's a reason for that. As a struggling online novelist, you often face the problem that relatives and friends always ask you: "I heard you're writing a novel. What kind of novel are you writing? Let me see it."

Whenever this happens, I'm always too embarrassed to say it, and then I make up an excuse to brush it off. Because in the last few books I read, the main characters were all cross-dressing women who seduced men everywhere, giving one man's gift to another, and then giving that man's gift to yet another. The two men would fight over her, only to find out that they had actually fallen in love with the same man.

Oh, shit.

Such a plot could easily make people suspect that I have some kind of quirk, so I've always wanted to write a more mature work to prove my innocence, so that I can speak frankly when others ask. That's why this book came about. Although I still went astray, at least it's a clean story.

Well, I guess it's a clean story... right?

What will you write in your next book?

In fact, the author himself has not decided whether to continue to take root and sprout in the dual male protagonist track, or return to writing mindless and enjoyable novels in the male-oriented genre, or try new themes. So far, the author has tried online games, supernatural, fantasy, and urban themes.

Unsurprisingly, each one was a painful lesson.

But I won't give up. I believe that gold will always shine.

See you in the next book, my darlings.
