Chapter 123 You're a Madman
The sound of running water from the bathroom tap filled the air as Shen Ran wiped the bruises on her arm with a tissue.
She was very satisfied with the special effects makeup artist this time.
She felt she was suited to be an actress because she had a talent for acting; her appearance, personality, and delivery of lines were all perfect.
She believes that with her abilities, she is absolutely capable of creating a moving and inspiring youth idol drama.
It's just a pity that she doesn't like acting.
Because most actors are heartless and ungrateful.
After washing up, Shen Ran looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes slightly narrowed, revealing a charming smile, before pushing open the door and leaving the bathroom.
After leaving the Lin Group building, Shen Ran hailed a taxi.
A moment later, the taxi stopped at the intersection of Jiangcheng People's Hospital Road.
There was still a street to the hospital, so Shen Ran chose to get off the bus early.
She glanced around to make sure no one was watching her, then took out a mask and sunglasses from her bag, put them on, and walked quickly toward the hospital entrance.
Upon entering the hospital lobby, she walked straight to the front desk in her high heels, giving the nurse a polite smile: "Hello, could you tell me where the restrooms are?"
The receptionist nurse stood up, carefully examined Shen Ran, and then said, "Come with me, I'll take you there."
"Thank you for your help."
Shen Ran nodded and followed the nurse at a leisurely pace.
After the two arrived at the restroom, the nurse checked the surroundings and, finding no one else, took a bottle of vitamins from her pocket and handed it to Shen Ran: "This is the last time. The checks on this medicine have been strict lately. After you finish this, you'll have to figure out how to take it yourself."
"Okay, I understand." Shen Ran didn't pay much attention, reached out and took the medicine bottle, then took out a yellow envelope from her bag and handed it to the other person.
The nurse took the envelope and glanced at it. After seeing that it was full of money, she looked at the elegant woman in front of her and couldn't help but ask, "Hey, don't blame me for being nosy, but this stuff can cause mental breakdown if you eat too much of it. What are you going to do with it?"
Shen Ran glanced at her and said indifferently, "Once you've taken the money, keep your mouth shut and don't ask questions you shouldn't ask."
"Okay, okay, forget I asked."
The nurse couldn't help but purse her lips as she looked at her cold and aloof expression.
Those with money are always the bosses; who would turn down money?
Shen Ran disdained to continue the conversation and turned to leave the restroom.
After leaving the hospital, she carefully put the medicine bottle into her bag and then hailed a taxi to leave.
It was already past midnight when I got home.
The villa was quiet, with only the living room and one room lit up.
As soon as Shen Ran stepped through the door, the maid in the living room respectfully greeted her, bowing deeply: "Miss Shen, you're back."
Shen Ran nodded, casually kicked her shoes aside, and asked, "Is he asleep?"
The maid hurriedly knelt down and neatly arranged the shoes on the floor, saying in a gentle tone, "Mr. Lin is still reading in the study."
Shen Ran glanced towards the study, took off her shawl, changed into slippers, and as she walked to the sofa, she instructed, "Prepare a cup of hot milk for me."
"Yes, Miss Shen."
The maid immediately responded and then turned to leave.
Shen Ran sat on the sofa, opened her laptop, checked her emails, and watched the young woman bustling around in the kitchen. As she expected, the young and beautiful maid had changed into black stockings and cat ears again today.
She didn't care about the other person's little schemes; she knew the other person was very resentful.
She was the same age as her, but her looks, figure, and temperament were not as outstanding. Why was she the master and she the servant? Shen Ran would never tell her the answer.
If she ever finds out the answer, she will definitely call Shen Ran a madwoman.
She never denied that she was crazy.
After all, nobody cares about a madwoman's past; she was just driven mad by life.
But she herself can no longer remember exactly how she was driven insane.
Anyway, it was a past I didn't want to look back on.
A short while later, the maid brought hot milk to Shen Ran's side, gently placed it on her table, and said, "Miss Shen, the milk is ready. Be careful, it's hot."
Shen Ran nodded slightly, took out a surveillance memory card from her bag, and placed it on the other person's tray: "Take this to the study!"
The maid was slightly taken aback, but still nodded obediently, picked up the tray, and turned to enter the study.
Shen Ran glanced at the milk glass on the table, then took out the medicine bottle, poured out a few pills, stirred them a few times with a spoon, and left them to sit quietly.
Silently, I put on my headphones and focused on the financial analysis report in my email. Faint, labored breathing could be heard coming from the study.
Half an hour later, the maid and Lin Chengyu came out of the study together. Lin Chengyu walked towards her while buttoning his shirt, and said in a unique middle-aged man's voice, "It's so late, why aren't you asleep?"
Shen Ran took off her headphones and said calmly, "The financial statements for this month haven't been checked yet."
Lin Chengyu sat down next to her, casually picked up the milk on her desk and took a sip, then looked at the laptop screen: "Recently, many people have had opinions about your decisions, you'd better tone it down a bit."
"I know what I'm doing."
Shen Ran said it without a care.
Only the weak care about what others think; the strong only think of ways to overcome obstacles.
"Since you have your own ideas, I won't interfere. I've always trusted you with the company, but don't let me down. I can give you everything, and I can also destroy everything. The most important thing is to learn to recognize your own position. You're a smart person, so don't make foolish choices." Lin Chengyu smiled faintly and then put the cup back in its place.
"I had no other choice, had I?"
Shen Ran glanced at the cup and noticed that half of the milk inside had been drunk. She then pretended to frown slightly.
She had already made her choice: her destiny should be in her own hands, not a puppet used to clean up other people's messes.
"Yueyue is returning to China tomorrow. Go to the airport and pick her up," Lin Chengyu ordered in a commanding tone.
Hearing this, Shen Ran raised her eyes, a hint of sarcasm on her lips: "When did you become so concerned about her? I thought you had long forgotten that you have a daughter."
Upon hearing this, Lin Chengyu raised an eyebrow, reached out and grabbed her hair, showing no mercy whatsoever, and said in an icy tone, "Although she did not inherit my noble bloodline, she is still my biological daughter and the sole heir of the Lin Group. Watch your tone."
"Let go of me." Shen Ran flung his hand away, glaring at him angrily: "You madman."
Lin Chengyu covered his face with one hand, as if he had heard a huge joke, and it took a lot of effort to stop himself from laughing: "What? You actually said I'm crazy? Don't fool yourself. Let me tell you, Shen Ran, you're the crazy one. I'm just crazier than you."
