Chapter 134 Yu Qing's Anxiety
"Boom!"
Another deafening thunderclap followed.
Yu Qing looked at the torrential rain outside the window, her brows furrowed. After thinking for a while, she picked up her phone and dialed Lu Chi's number again.
I still can't get through.
No one replied to the message.
Yu Qing was a little anxious. She glanced at the time; it was already midnight. Even if there were no buses at this hour, Lu Chi should have been home by now.
"Could that kid still be outside?"
Thinking of this, Yu Qing could no longer restrain herself. She immediately sat up in bed, put on her clothes, quickly went to the living room to grab an umbrella, and hurriedly went out the door.
It was raining heavily.
The sky was like a dam that had been torn open, with rain pouring down endlessly. In the whole world, you could hear nothing but the sound of rain.
There were no pedestrians or cars.
Yu Qing could only hold up the umbrella and run towards Lu Chi's house.
He was never afraid of rain or thunder.
But for some reason, today's rain filled him with unease and fear. He couldn't even explain what he was worried about; he just felt his eyelids twitching.
The last time I had this feeling was a year ago.
The rain back then was just as torrential.
If he hadn't stopped Xu Zhi in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Now, in the same situation, it's hard for him not to think the worst.
"Lu Chi, you must be alright!"
Yu Qing prayed silently in her heart.
After running for an unknown amount of time, Yu Qing finally arrived at Lu Chi's house. He was panting heavily, and raindrops dripped from his hair onto the stone steps in front of the door.
He raised his hand and pounded heavily on the door, calling out Lu Chi's name as he knocked.
The sound carried far.
But there was no response from inside the house.
Just then, the door across the street suddenly opened, and an old man came out and kindly advised, "Young man, stop knocking. This family hasn't been back for a long time."
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you."
Yu Qing gave the old man an apologetic smile.
Since his grandmother passed away, Lu Chi has mostly stayed at school or at his home, and rarely comes back.
I usually come back to clean the room once a month.
Yu Qing was aware of this.
The old man sighed and prepared to close the door.
Yu Qing suddenly called out to her, "Grandma, may I ask where around here we can burn paper money?"
"Burning paper money?" The old man thought for a moment and then said, "Go straight to the left after leaving the community. Walk for about twenty minutes and you'll see an unfinished building. You should be able to burn paper money there."
"Thank you, Grandma."
After thanking him politely, Yu Qing hurriedly ran downstairs.
The rain outside showed no signs of stopping. Following the old man's directions, he quickly found the unfinished building.
By this time, he was exhausted and panting heavily.
"Lu Chi!"
Yu Qing shouted loudly, his voice breaking through the rain and penetrating into the building.
However, no one responded.
Yu Qing searched around the unfinished building several times and finally found a pile of burnt ashes in a corner. It was obvious that this must have been burned by Lu Chi.
Judging from the state of this pile of ashes, Lu Chi must have left some time ago and should have already returned home.
"Could something really have happened?"
Yu Qing hurriedly left the place. She should have come with him; otherwise, this wouldn't have happened.
He went to the shops opposite the unfinished building to inquire, and after asking around, he finally learned from the owner of a convenience store that Lu Chi had left half an hour earlier.
Yu Qing continued searching in the direction the boss had given him, running and shouting until his voice was hoarse.
Finally, by a puddle on the roadside, he saw something: Lu Chi's cell phone!
Yu Qing rushed over, picked up the phone, and saw that the screen was cracked and severely waterlogged, essentially rendering it unusable.
At this moment, Yu Qing's heart sank to the bottom.
Lu Chi is really in trouble.
...
"You move him out first, I'll go deal with the car."
Shen Ran took out a rope from somewhere and threw it to Lin Chengyu, then quickly walked towards the driver's seat.
Lin Chengyu subconsciously took the rope, looking at Shen Ran's back, his heart pounding, clearly still not recovered from the hallucination he had just experienced.
Shen Ran turned around and saw Lin Chengyu standing there motionless with the rope in his hand. She frowned and said, "Don't worry, I won't run away. After all, you haven't fulfilled your promise to me yet."
Lin Chengyu suddenly realized what was happening, took Lu Chi out of the trunk, and then skillfully tied his limbs with rope.
Only after he had done all this did he slowly raise his head.
"Wait for me to come back."
Shen Ran gave her a meaningful smile, closed the car window, and stepped on the gas.
The car sped off instantly.
"You damned woman!"
Lin Chengyu cursed under his breath.
Although he didn't know what the hallucination was, as long as Lu Chi was alive, he didn't care about anything else.
Lin Chengyu carried Lu Chi step by step upstairs to the bedroom, his face beaming with excitement, as if he couldn't wait to finish his work.
As soon as I stepped onto the second-floor stairs, the bedroom light turned on automatically.
Suddenly, there was another person in the room.
Shen Ran was sitting on the sofa watching him.
Lin Chengyu froze on the spot.
Seeing that Lin Chengyu remained silent, Shen Ran said with displeasure, "Why did it take so long?"
Lin Chengyu stared at her with a cold look in his eyes: "Didn't you go to deal with the car?"
"Are you out of your mind with drugs? I just came upstairs to change my clothes," Shen Ran explained impatiently.
Lin Chengyu refused to believe it and quickly threw Lu Chi to the ground. He hurried to the window and saw that the car was indeed still parked downstairs.
What he just witnessed seemed like a hallucination.
"Do you need any help?" Shen Ran asked casually.
"Need not."
After Lin Chengyu finished speaking coldly, he turned around and walked to Lu Chi's side, carried him to the bedroom, and used ropes to fix his limbs to the headboard.
At that moment, Shen Ran suddenly walked up from behind.
Lin Chengyu seemed to sense something and turned around abruptly, looking at her warily: "What are you going to do?"
"Didn't we agree that as long as I help you get the person here, you'll transfer half of your shares to me? You're not thinking of going back on your word, are you?" Shen Ran stepped forward and stared straight at Lin Chengyu. Her tone was calm, but it carried a hint of threat.
"Tomorrow, I'll draft the contract tomorrow," Lin Chengyu said dismissively.
"I knew you'd say that." Shen Ran sneered, immediately pulling out a prepared contract from behind her and handing it to Lin Chengyu: "Sign it."
Lin Chengyu glanced at the contract in Shen Ran's hand, his eyes flickered for a moment, but he still didn't move: "Aren't you afraid I'll kill you to silence you?"
"You really think you can take me down? I wouldn't dare do this without prior preparation." Shen Ran met his gaze without fear.
"Okay, very good."
Lin Chengyu sneered, picked up a pen, and quickly signed his name: "Are you satisfied now?"
Shen Ran looked at the name on the contract and a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
But the next second, she felt something hard pierce through her neck.
Lin Chengyu's pen pierced her throat.
Fresh blood slid down the tip of the pen.
Shen Ran covered her neck with both hands, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief.
"You are satisfied, but I am not."
Lin Chengyu looked at her with icy eyes and a mocking smile.
