Chapter 160: Zhao Shi'an's Identity Revealed

The emperor immediately summoned the crown prince and several important officials, and they discussed the matter until evening.

Everyone left the palace with a look of fear on their faces.

People from Gao's faction walked over to Gao Wancheng and asked him what was going on in the southwest.

"Southwest Rebellion".

"No, isn't your son Gao Ren in the southwest? Don't you know?"

Gao Wancheng shook his head, looking troubled.

"I can't get in touch with him either, maybe he's already been murdered..."

Several adults showed some sympathy.

Gao Wancheng bid farewell to the adults and got into the carriage, his expression changing instantly.

His carriage arrived at the Gao residence, and he went out through the back door to meet Princess Wu'an.

"Your Highness Princess Wu'an, what's going on?"

When Gao Wancheng sat down opposite Princess Wu'an, his face was still very unpleasant.

Princess Wu'an, however, remained calm.

"It's obvious that there are people from the imperial court in the southwest, which is why the news was sent out so quickly."

"Didn't Your Highness guarantee that the southwest would remain under your control? How do you explain this now?"

This questioning tone made Princess Wu'an's gaze slowly fall on his face, and her expression turned cold.

"I would have to ask Lord Gao about that. The southwest is indeed full of my people, but things have changed since your son went there."

"What does Princess Wu'an mean by this? Does she think my son would betray me?"

Although he never told Gao Ren about the plans in the southwest, if Gao Ren noticed anything amiss, he would definitely be the first to reply to him.

After Gao Ren left the capital, he sent a letter to let them know he was safe, and then they lost contact.

Princess Wu'an knew this was not the time to discuss this, so she closed her eyes briefly and said, "Perhaps our connection with the southwest has been severed by some people, and someone is causing trouble."

Gao Wancheng paused for a moment, then immediately thought of someone.

Princess Wu'an noticed Gao Wancheng's expression and asked, "What's wrong?"

Gao Wancheng pursed his lips.

He thought to himself that it couldn't possibly be someone from the Wind and Rain Pavilion.

But besides Fengyulou, who else has the ability to do all this without anyone noticing?

After a pause, Gao Wancheng said, "Does Your Highness think it's possible that they are from Fengyulou?"

Princess Wu'an frowned slightly, also considering this possibility.

"Didn't someone from the Wan Hua Lou brothel give you the address of the gold mine?"

Gao Wancheng nodded.

Yes, but giving him the address of the gold mine doesn't necessarily mean he'll be helped in other ways.

Gao Wancheng said what he thought, and Princess Wu'an's expression changed instantly.

Do you have the contact information for Fengyulou?

Gao Ren hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"I can only give it a try, after all, the master of Fengyu Tower is not so easy to meet."

Princess Wu'an did not look well.

She knew how capable Fengyulou was, but she had never taken this person seriously. Now that such a mistake had occurred, she had to re-evaluate the organization.

After meeting Gao Wancheng, Princess Wu'an returned to the palace and went to the Emperor's bedchamber. The Emperor was talking to the Crown Prince, and the Crown Prince left after she entered.

As the two passed each other, the crown prince gave her a meaningful look.

Such a look prepared Princess Wu'an, so she wasn't surprised when the Emperor asked about the situation in the southwest.

The emperor still suspected her.

After all, her fiefdom was in the southwest.

Moreover, Meng Ran, the garrison commander in the southwest, has been diligent and conscientious all these years. There is no reason for him to suddenly plot a rebellion. It can only be that someone behind him instructed him to do so.

The Emperor asked Princess Wu'an to sit down.

Have you heard about what happened in the southwest?

"Yes, I heard it from the officials when I came here."

What do you think?

"Your subject does not know."

"You don't know? You're in your own fiefdom, and aren't you quite familiar with Meng Ran?"

When Princess Wu'an went to the southwest, she stayed at Meng Ran's residence. Those two years were enough for her to build a good relationship with the Meng family.

The Emperor's suspicions about her were understandable.

“Father, I truly know nothing about the situation in the southwest. If you trust me, please allow me to investigate.”

The Emperor gazed intently at her.

Now, he finds himself distrusting no one.

He could deceive his most beloved concubines and princes in the past, so why couldn't his daughter do the same?

Thinking of this, the emperor's expression became somewhat impatient.

"Forget it, I've already handed this matter over to the Crown Prince. You just stay in the palace and don't leave without my orders."

Princess Wu'an felt dizzy.

She had expected the emperor to be suspicious of her, but she never imagined that he would be so wary of her.

Princess Wu'an clenched her teeth hard.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I will obey your orders."

Princess Wu'an left the Emperor's bedchamber, but the Crown Prince didn't leave; he waited for her outside.

Princess Wu'an called out to her brother, the Emperor.

The crown prince nodded.

"Wu'an, I've always thought you were a smart man. I hope you won't do anything foolish."

Princess Wu'an looked at him without saying a word.

Take good care of yourself.

After speaking, the Crown Prince turned and left. Princess Wu'an watched his figure disappear before turning her gaze away.

Beneath her calm exterior, her hands, clasped together under her sleeves, were almost digging their way through her palms.

Is it ultimately impossible?

Why should it be like this?

She was not convinced.

"Your Highness."

The Grand Eunuch suddenly appeared behind Princess Wu'an.
