Fang Qing went to the Eighth Prince's tent, where Huo Zhun and his men were guarding it. After Fang Qing went in, she stopped Seventeenth Prince outside.
Upon entering the tent, Fang Qing smelled a faint herbal scent, but it was not obvious.
The Eighth Prince sat at the low table, his expression normal, not at all like the person rumored to be dying.
"This humble woman greets the Eighth Prince."
The Eighth Prince waved to her, gesturing for her to sit down opposite him.
"Your body?"
The Eighth Prince chuckled softly.
"It's alright. The assassin didn't even scratch me. The reason I spread the news was to lower the guard of the Southwest Army."
No wonder.
Back when the system asked her to save the Eighth Prince in Majia Village, that Eighth Prince must have been an important person to this world outside the Great Wall. If something had really happened to him, the system and Xiaodou wouldn't be so calm.
"What business does the Eighth Prince have with me?"
"Here's the thing, I'd like to arrange for someone to take you away from here."
Fang Qing raised her eyebrows slightly as she looked at the Eighth Prince.
"Is this Zhao Shi'an's intention?"
Seventeen has urged her several times, presumably because Seventeen reported to Zhao Shi'an, and then Zhao Shi'an troubled the Eighth Prince.
But the Eighth Prince shook his head.
"No, I want you to leave, and I also want to use you to help us accomplish something."
"Help you?"
The Eighth Prince responded and turned to show Fang Qing the map behind him.
"It is said that Yizhou is easy to defend and difficult to attack, but it is not entirely without a way to break through."
As he spoke, the Eighth Prince pointed to a checkpoint.
"This is a pass built by the previous dynasty to connect the southwest and Yuzhou. Later, due to insufficient funds, the project was abandoned. Although it was abandoned, as long as the roadblock is blown up, this pass is still the best way to enter the heart of Yizhou."
Fang Qing's gaze fell on the spot where the Eighth Prince was pointing.
That place is about ten miles away from here, and it's the only place she can pass through on her way back to An County.
Fang Qing instantly understood what the Eighth Prince meant.
"Does the Eighth Prince intend to use escorting me as a cover to secretly lead troops to this pass and then launch a surprise attack on the enemy?"
The Eighth Prince nodded.
"I wonder if Miss Fang can help me?"
"Of course, when does the Eighth Prince plan to depart?"
"Tomorrow morning."
"So eager?"
"Yes, I was assassinated and my life is in danger. The news has already been sent out. It seems that the Yizhou side will take this opportunity to start a war tomorrow, so we need to act as soon as possible."
"Okay, then I'll go back and make some preparations, and we'll set off tomorrow morning."
As Fang Qing was speaking, she stood up, but the Eighth Prince called her back.
"Fang Qing, the people in the southwest are not only watching me, but also you. So you will be in danger if you leave the camp, especially if you leave in such a high-profile manner. Don't you think about this carefully?"
"There's nothing to think about. Zhao Shi'an already told me to leave here. With the people from Fengyulou escorting me, there's no problem."
"Thank you for your help."
"Eighth Prince, you don't need to be so polite with me."
Fang Qing spoke to him a few more words about leaving tomorrow, then got up to take her leave.
The Eighth Prince then got up and escorted Fang Qing to the tent entrance.
As soon as Fang Qing came out, Seventeen followed closely behind her.
After the two returned, Fang Qing told Seventeen to prepare, as they would be leaving early the next morning.
Upon hearing the name Seventeen, a smile appeared on his face.
"We were all ready and waiting for you to leave. Why did you suddenly change your mind? Did the Eighth Prince say something to you?"
Fang Qing glanced around; there were quite a few patrolling soldiers around, so she didn't try to keep her voice down.
"Yes, I just saw the Eighth Prince. He wasn't doing well. He said things weren't safe here and that I should leave quickly for a safer place."
Seventeen understood, and the spies hiding in the shadows naturally heard it too.
"Then the young lady should rest early."
Fang Qing returned to her tent, packed her things, and went to bed early.
The next day, before dawn, Seventeen was calling for her from outside.
Fang Qing got up to tidy up, and got into the carriage without eating anything.
The person who led the troops to "escort" Fang Qing away this time was Huo Zhun. He brought a thousand soldiers, all of whom were lightly armed and did not look like soldiers, but rather like servants escorting Fang Qing.
They tied up five carriages. Apart from the one Fang Qing made, the other four carriages were all packed full of things, covered with tarpaulins so that the contents could not be seen.
Fang Qing knew that this contained weapons, armor, and provisions.
As they left the military camp, many people came to watch.
"General Huo, where are you headed?"
"Yes, how is the Eighth Prince?"
"Now that you're gone, how are we supposed to keep fighting in the southwest?"
Many people started to get anxious.
“Miss Fang is a very important person to us, and she is also Lord Zhao’s fiancée. We must protect her safety, so we must escort her home. As for the military camp, don’t worry. Even if the Eighth Prince is injured, we have no shortage of generals to fight in the southwest.”
Huo Zhun bid them a perfunctory farewell and then left the military camp with Fang Qing.
The news soon reached the Yizhou military camp.
Gao Ren and several generals discussed the matter in the council hall.
Without Meng Ran, they have no one to lead them.
"The Eighth Prince was injured by our men. The dagger was poisoned, and the Eighth Prince is almost dead by now. Huo Zhun, the brute beside the Eighth Prince, also left the camp with that young woman. It seems that he knew they couldn't hold this place, so he left quickly."
