Chapter 229 Showing Off Acting Skills

Fang Qing disagreed.

How could he, as the leader of an army, leave the camp without permission?

"The two of us can go."

"I'm worried."

Princess Min'er walked up to Fang Zhu with a smile.

“It would be even better if you went. I will introduce you to my father. If my father is satisfied, I will ask you to marry me and become my son-in-law.”

"Stop fooling around!"

Seeing that he was really angry, Princess Min'er pouted.

"Alright, alright, I got it. Let's hurry up, or we won't reach the palace before dark."

The Northwest Camp is not far from the Tibetan Royal Palace.

They set off from the camp in the morning, riding at full speed, and entered the Tibetan capital by evening.

This place is more prosperous than Fang Qing had imagined.

The exotic atmosphere also piqued Fang Qing's curiosity. After entering the city, she walked through two more main streets and then entered the magnificent royal palace.

Fang Qing had never seen such a luxurious building before.

The golden buildings shone brightly in the sunlight.

"These buildings aren't all made of gold..."

"It was brushed with gold powder."

Fang Qing thought so too; how could the imperial city be built with gold?

Then Fang Qing heard Zhao Shi'an say, "However, I heard that the inner city of the royal palace is paved with jewels."

Fang Qing didn't believe it at first, until Princess Min'er led them into the inner palace.

Jewelry and jade of all sizes were scattered on the ground, making it uneven to walk on.

Some of these stones were jade, some were diamonds, and they came in all sorts of colors. When the sun shone on them, they emitted a dazzling array of colors. After walking along the path, which was neither too long nor too short, Fang Qing's eyes were almost blinded by the light.

She suddenly felt like her feet didn't even belong to her anymore.

I had this urge to snatch one and take it away secretly.

Zhao Shi'an held Fang Qing's hand and couldn't help but laugh at her expression.

"If my wife wants it, we can buy it at the market when we get back. We can have as much as you want."

Fang Qing looked at him suspiciously.

Do you think I'm buying giant radishes?

“These things are worthless here. Only the powerful and wealthy in the capital, where mining is not well developed, like these things. Because they are rare, the price is driven up.”

Fang Qing also understood this principle.

Just as the Tibetans would find it extravagant to see them using grain as livestock.

Later on the way, Fang Qing saw soldiers wearing golden armor and heard Zhao Shi'an explain that these were the personal guards of the Tibetan king.

After passing these guards, they entered the palace and met the Tibetan king.

They exchanged greetings.

The Tibetan king personally descended from his throne to greet them.

This was a chubby old man dressed in Tibetan clothing, with rosy cheeks and a nose that made him appear quite approachable.

Princess Min'er stepped forward and affectionately fawned over the Tibetan king, even speaking a string of Tibetan words that Fang Qing couldn't understand.

The Tibetan king reluctantly patted Princess Min'er's head, which elicited a joyful laugh from her.

Fang Qing had no idea what the mother and daughter were talking about.

Fang Zhu, who could understand some Tibetan, frowned and looked at Princess Min'er.

Princess Min'er returned Fang Zhu's triumphant smile.

The Tibetan king arranged for them to sit down. Fang Qing wanted to take the opportunity to ask Fang Zhu what they were talking about, but Zhao Shi'an squeezed Fang Qing's hand.

"Princess Min'er was just here discussing her marriage to Fang Zhu with the Tibetan king."

"Can you understand the language here?"

"I can understand some of it."

Fang Qing thought he was too modest.

The Tibetan king entertained them in this palace, accompanied by Tibetan ministers.

They first drank wine, and then the Tibetan king talked about the divine fire.

“Esteemed envoys from Dali, you know how important the divine fire is to us. If we allow you to use it at will, we don’t know if we will offend the gods. In that case, it will be our Tibetan people who suffer.”

"I think that my use of divine fire this time will not anger the gods."

"Oh, why do you say that?"

"Because the thing I want to destroy with divine fire is not ordinary."

All eyes of the Tibetans were on Zhao Shi'an.

Now I'm even more curious about what Zhao Shi'an destroyed.

"I don't know what it is?"

In their minds, anything that needs to be destroyed by fire must be something extremely sinful.

"Relics of gods and Buddhas".

As soon as Zhao Shi'an spoke, the hall instantly became noisy. Fang Qing saw the Tibetan ministers whispering among themselves, their faces full of shock.

Even the Tibetan king sitting on his throne showed a look of surprise.

"Is it truly a relic of a deity or Buddha?"

"right."

"Why do you possess such a sacred object?"

The Tibetan king was clearly very excited.

Fang Qing realized that the relics of gods and Buddhas might be as sacred to them as the divine fire.

“This has been passed down from generation to generation. I heard that hundreds of years ago, my ancestor saved a wandering monk. This sacred object was given to my ancestor by that monk in return. After that, with the protection of this thing, my family lived a prosperous life.”

The people in the hall became even more agitated, and one minister even stood up and pointed at Zhao Shi'an, asking, "Even if it is a sacred object, you can choose not to worship it, but why destroy it? Isn't this an offense against the gods!"

"Exactly, you'll be punished by heaven for this!"

The people in the hall all criticized Zhao Shi'an, but the Tibetan king raised his hand to stop them from shouting.

“Envoy of Dali, if you do not explain the reason, I will absolutely not allow you to do anything that would desecrate the sacred object.”

Zhao Shi'an sighed softly and took out the box containing the relic.

"Watch closely, everyone."

As he spoke, he opened the box.
