Chapter 63 Fang Eryou married Xiao Die

The old woman was crying; she seemed genuinely terrified by that group of people.

"It's not that I don't want to save them, it's that I really don't have that much money."

"Why don't you have any? Take some, plus that cow, it'll definitely be enough for ten taels of silver!"

Upon hearing this, Fang Daniu broke free from the old woman's hand.

“No, the cow won’t do. It was bought with the money for bean sprouts. I’ll help you think of another way.”

"What can you do with your stupid brain? It's almost fifteen minutes. If I get back any later, they'll break Eryou's arm. Hurry up and bring the cow out."

Fang Daniu frowned, just as Fang Qing walked up to him.

"Why isn't there any other way? Did they also say that besides giving money, they could also get my second uncle to marry that girl?"

The old woman was stunned, and then flew into a rage.

"What are you planning? Xiaodie can't have children. If your second uncle marries her, our family line will end!"

One sentence offended both Fang Daniu and Fang Qing.

Fang Daniu's initial intention to help vanished instantly.

"Does my second uncle have some good inherited qualities, or does he have a huge fortune waiting to be inherited? I don't think it makes any difference whether he has offspring or not. On the contrary, he has a child who is just like him and is causing trouble."

"How could you say that about your second uncle!"

"Isn't what I'm saying the truth? Anyway, my family has no money. No one in the village will lend you any money. It's better to let my second uncle marry Xiaodie into the family."

"Are you deliberately trying to oppose me?!"

“Mom, Douya is right. Eryou got into this mess himself. He needs to learn to handle these things on his own. Anyway, I have no money, and it’s so late, you should go home too.”

The old woman's eyes widened.

"Are you really going to stand by and watch someone die?"

"This matter isn't life-threatening, you can leave now."

As he spoke, Fang Daniu pushed the old woman out of the house.

"Fang Daniu, you ungrateful wretch! You're raising that bastard child for someone else and you don't even help your brother. Aren't you afraid of being struck by lightning?"

"I'll haunt you even if I die! Just you wait!"

The old woman cursed outside for a while, until she estimated that about fifteen minutes had passed, then she hurriedly ran home.

When she didn't get the money back, Fang Eryou was the first to complain, and he muttered a string of curses.

Xiaodie's brothers were unhappy and said they were about to hit Fang Eryou.

The old woman couldn't bear to watch, so she gritted her teeth and made a decision.

"Eryou, why don't you marry Xiaodie? I think Xiaodie is a good girl."

"No way, how could I possibly marry him..."

Before he could finish speaking, he screamed in pain as Xiaodie's brother kicked him in the stomach.

The kick was so powerful that Fang Er almost couldn't catch his breath.

"Eryou, don't argue with them. Our priority is to save our lives."

"Okay, okay, I promise you, I'll marry Xiaodie!"

Xiaodie's brothers exchanged glances.

They were all unhappy because they didn't get the money.

But Fang Er's family was dirt poor, and even if they were beaten to death, they might not get the money.

In any case, Fang Eryou has passed the county examination, and there's no guarantee that he'll become an official and make a fortune in the future. If Xiaodie marries into the family, they'll also rise to prominence.

“Okay, we’ll send Xiaodie over tomorrow, and you can arrange for the marriage certificate to be written.”

They let Fang Eryou go, and after they left, the old woman quickly helped him up.

Fang Er pushed the old woman away.

He resented the old woman for not being able to provide him with a wealthy life, and he also hated Fang Daniu for not helping him when he was in danger.

"Just you wait, I'll make you pay once I've made it big!"

*

After being disturbed all night, Fang Qing woke up late in the morning.

It was during the meal that she heard Zhao tell her about Fang Eryou.

This is not surprising at all, after all, this is the only path Fang Eryou can take.

"I heard they're getting married today, so they've called the village chief and clan head over to write the marriage certificate."

As she spoke, Zhao looked at Fang Daniu.

"Da Niu, are you still going over there to help?"

The old woman's words from last night were still very clear, and Fang Daniu shook his head without hesitation.

"No, I don't think I'll be needed."

After dinner, Fang Daniu was tying brooms in the yard when Fang Qing, who had just finished practicing calligraphy, ran over and insisted on dragging her to watch the excitement.

Fang Qing asked Zhao Shi'an, and after he refused, Fang Qing went out with Da Shan.

This hardly qualifies as a wedding. Xiaodie was brought here by her brothers, wearing an ill-fitting red dress that must have been borrowed.

Then look at Fang Eryou, he didn't even bother to dress properly, and with a sullen face, he took Xiaodie home. Everyone originally wanted to go in and see what was going on, but the old woman scared them out.

Everyone in the village knew that Fang Er's marriage was not going well, and they stood outside the door pointing and laughing at him.

Fang Qing suddenly felt very bored and went home with Da Shan.

Fang Eryou's marriage did not have any impact on their family.

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and the family of four had their New Year's Eve dinner.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Yi Fangqing was woken up early and, along with Zhao Shi'an, put on festive new clothes and went out with the adults to pay New Year's visits.

Children love Chinese New Year because it's the only time they get new clothes and can eat sweets they don't usually get.

But the new clothes for the children in their village were mostly durable and dirt-resistant gray or black coarse cloth clothes; there were none like the festive red ones worn by Fang Qing and Zhao Shi'an.

Fang Qing chose the fabric, so Zhao had no choice but to comply, since Fang Qing now had both a husband and money.

The little girl was dressed so beautifully that everyone who saw her praised Zhao for raising her so well.
