Chapter 102 Just pretend I never had this daughter

"So what if someone dies? What does it have to do with me?" Song Tangxue said nonchalantly, fiddling with the tassel on her fingertips.

The deaths of those two are a welcome event, but it's unclear who in the Song family was responsible.

Her gaze suddenly fell on the bottom of the jewelry box, and a strange feeling flashed through Song Tangxue's mind. It didn't seem to be placed like this yesterday.

"This is a big problem." Haitang's heart was racing. She thought about what Cuixi had just reported back, and her mind was in turmoil, unable to make sense of it.

"They suspect you of being the murderer over there." Haitang draped a cloak over Song Tangxue's shoulders. The morning dew was heavy, and the lanterns in the courtyard were still lit. A crowd had already gathered in the neighboring courtyard.

A death is a serious matter, especially one involving someone related to the family.

"Why would they suspect me? I didn't even leave the house yesterday." Song Tangxue's gaze swept over the slightly disheveled jewelry box, and a sense of unease welled up in her heart.

Now is not the time to investigate these matters. Perhaps the people in the courtyard are dishonest. Song Tangxue pulled her cloak tighter and walked outside.

With a stern face, Song Tangxue strode to the gate of the neighboring courtyard, where she bumped into the maidservant beside Madam Song who was coming out.

The maid looked up at Song Tangxue with an air of superiority, her expression clearly conveying the message that Song Tangxue was about to face dire straits.

Song Tangxue knew that this matter was more complicated than she had imagined.

"Miss Song, Madam invites you in." The maid stood to one side, gesturing and speaking to Song Tangxue with a forced smile, showing no respect whatsoever.

Song Tangxue wasn't intimidated by her. The servants didn't act like servants at all; this was the Song family's upbringing, something she had already experienced firsthand.

As soon as she stepped into the courtyard, Song's mother's sharp gaze fell on her: "I didn't know that the Song family would raise such a thing that harms its own parents."

"I don't know if this thing is black or if it's a black-hearted thing that grew out of the Shen family's lack of upbringing."

Song Tangxue ignored her sarcasm and pushed through the crowd to the innermost part of the courtyard, where many people were gathered in layers.

Mr. and Mrs. Song stood at the innermost part of the room. Mrs. Song's face was a little pale, as if she had been shocked by the disgusting scene.

Upon seeing the two people surrounded, Song Tangxue was startled. She then frowned, squatted down, and examined them closely.

The two died tragically. Liu's face was scratched to pieces by something unknown, and her features were blurred and unrecognizable. Blood and flesh were mixed together, emitting a pungent, fishy smell.

But those eyes remained wide open, staring towards the doorway, which led directly to Song Tangxue's location, as if they had expected it all along.

Everyone who entered through the main gate in the morning felt a sudden tightness in their chest.

As for Wang Zhuzi, he also died with his eyes wide open, a gold hairpin stuck in his chest, the very one that Song Tangxue had worn in her hair yesterday.

What shocked Song Tangxue the most was the handkerchief that Wang Zhuzi was clutching tightly in his hand. It was her personal handkerchief, and the one she had seen Wang Zhuzi and his wife use to wipe away tears on the first day.

This inexplicable scene left Song Tangxue a little confused. Suddenly, she remembered the strangeness of the jewelry box that morning and realized that someone might have deliberately framed her.

Song Tangxue didn't care about these underhanded methods; as long as she didn't do them herself, there would definitely be loopholes.

"Sister!" Suddenly, a soft exclamation came from outside. Song Tangli rushed into the room and looked at the two stiff corpses lying on the ground with some surprise, covering her mouth.

“Isn’t this the hairpin that my sister wore before?” Song Tangli covered her mouth and gagged, looking at Song Tangxue in disbelief. “Someone said today that my sister killed someone, but I didn’t believe it.”

“But these handkerchiefs and hairpins belong to my sister, and your courtyard is the closest to here…” Song Tangli’s eyes trembled slightly, deeply shocked.

Song Tangxue was utterly impressed by the superb acting skills: "You really don't believe me?"

"You all think I killed these two people?" Song Tangxue asked calmly, her fearless attitude making people suspicious.

"Even now you still won't admit it! Do you think this hairpin could grow legs and run from your yard to here?" Mother Song sat down on the chair that the servants had brought over.

Luckily, I hadn't had time to eat breakfast yet; otherwise, I would have thrown it all up.

"Sister, just admit it. After all, Wang Zhuzi and his wife raised you. The most important thing now is to give them a proper burial." Song Tangli turned her head away, unable to bear looking at the figure on the ground.

"Go, get two white sheets and cover these two people up. They're already dead, so let them die with some dignity." Song Tangli sighed softly.

Some people present were already moved by Miss Song's kindness.

"This second young lady and the eldest young lady are completely different people."

"Yes, there were rumors in that courtyard that the young lady treated her servants well, but then she turned around and killed her own adoptive parents."

"It's a bit scary to think about. They kill people without a sound, and we don't even know how it happened. The second young lady is so good. She's beautiful and kind-hearted. She can't stand this kind of thing. Even in this situation, she's still thinking about her biological parents."

This last remark made Song's parents somewhat uncomfortable, but they felt relieved only after seeing the two dead bodies on the ground.

What's the point of arguing with a dead person?

Song Tangli lowered her head sadly, hiding the mockery and smugness on her lips. Song Tangxue, Song Tangxue, you've finally met your match.

Moreover, the reason she refrained from immediately contacting Song Tangxue was because she had a big gift to give to her dear sister later.

“Sister, I believe your adoptive parents in heaven wouldn’t blame you. Didn’t you argue with them in the yard last night? Perhaps you were carried away by your emotions.” Song Tangxue wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, her tearful eyes rubbing against Song Tangxue’s: “I believe in you, sister.”

"Daughters are the apple of their parents' eye. I believe that your spirits in heaven would also want my sister to frankly admit her mistakes."

Song Tangxue's expression turned slightly unpleasant. The noise in her courtyard last night was quite loud, and many people in the Song family heard it, which is now one of the pieces of evidence against her.

Although Wang Zhuzi and his wife offended many people during their stay at the Song residence, they clearly had an argument with Song Tangxue just last night, and then died mysteriously today. It's impossible not to suspect her.

"Song Tangxue, if you have any sense of responsibility, you should admit to this quickly, and don't delay your adoptive parents' burial ceremony," Song's mother scolded in a low voice, not wanting to look at the two corpses even once.

"From now on, I will pretend that I never had a daughter like you!" Song's mother turned her head away, and sighed deeply, seemingly unable to bear it.

Song Tangxue was almost laughing in anger at this shameless family. If they just pretended she didn't exist as their daughter, then she probably wouldn't be able to get her share of the family property back either: "Mother, you're mistaken. Haven't you never considered me your daughter?"
