Chapter 111 You reap what you sow

Song Tangxue was like someone climbing a snow-capped mountain, with her clothes being pulled off piece by piece and taken away by those around her.

On the desolate snow-capped peak, only one person remained. The world was vast, yet no one else could be seen.

The bitter cold silently swallowed her up.

"Xinghua, I've always treated you well, why are you treating me like this?" Song Tangxue couldn't hold back her frustration and asked.

She felt she couldn't hold onto much, so she always treated those around her with the utmost kindness, but things still turned out the same way.

She began to suspect that God was playing a cruel joke on her, giving her a second chance at life just to see the true colors of these people, forcing her to walk the same old path and continue to be betrayed by others.

"Why did you betray me?" Now that she had asked, Song Tangxue decided to press for an answer, staring intently at Xinghua with her bright eyes.

Xinghua, however, showed no remorse whatsoever, feigning ignorance: "What are you saying, Miss? This servant doesn't understand."

Xinghua coldly observed: "I was not born a lady, but a lowly life. No one will die for me, so I am cautious and timid. Under your coercion, I help you do some wicked and illegal things."

“Now that things have been exposed, I feel really guilty, so I thought of telling the world about your affairs. Have I done anything wrong?” Xinghua’s words were so matter-of-fact that Song Tangxue really didn’t know how to refute them.

"Heh." Song Tangxue chuckled softly, laughing at herself for not understanding human nature even after living two lifetimes.

He actually went and stupidly asked the maid why she betrayed him. Shouldn't the answer to such a stupid question have been known long ago?

In this life, people seek nothing more than money and power. Just because you can give something doesn't mean others can't, as long as others can give something better...

These people climb the social ladder, forgetting all past favors.

"We were once mistress and servant, after all. Considering our past relationship, I still advise you, Miss, to face reality as soon as possible," Xinghua said sarcastically, as if she were the high and mighty mistress.

"There's an old saying that goes, 'A wise man submits to circumstances,' and Miss is a smart person; she should understand what I mean." Xinghua wrote her name and affixed her fingerprint to the confession.

She bowed her head and knelt on the ground: "The sinner Xinghua is willing to submit to the law and confess her crimes."

The jailers placed two copies of the confession in front of Song Tangxue. Song Tangxue looked down at it, then suddenly reached out her slender fingers towards the confession.

A huge weight was lifted from Li Zong's heart, but it wasn't all gone: "Miss Song will be held accountable for what she did today..."

"Rip." The crisp sound was Song Tangxue tearing the confession to shreds with an expressionless face, her expression extremely cold.

"No matter how many times you ask, our answer is always that I am innocent. You can't force a confession or play the emotional card!" Song Tangxue casually tossed the piece of paper in her hand into the air, and looked at Li Zong's dark face with a sense of satisfaction.

"I will always be responsible for what I did today, and I will never regret it." Song Tangxue spoke slowly, word by word, wanting those seated to know her attitude.

I don't mind the daily annoyances.

Having spent decades in the palace in her previous life, she had witnessed all sorts of conspiracies and schemes, and tasted the bitterness and sweetness of the world. These were nothing more than a drop in the ocean for her.

Having been reborn, he found himself trapped in a dead end, which is why he was shocked by Xinghua's betrayal.

Looking back now, it was all just human nature.

Xinghua's face was somber. Fragments of paper fell on her head like white butterflies, and her twirling fingers showed that her heart was not as calm as her face.

"A treacherous and ungrateful person will go to hell after death." Song Tangxue lowered her eyes to look at her: "Take care of yourself in the future, and I wish you a bright future."

Since the person was placed here, they must have been on a mission. Obviously, Xinghua failed to complete it. Those in power are all ruthless. It remains to be seen whether Xinghua will regret it.

Song Tangxue was escorted back to the prison by Li Zong.

Xinghua stopped acting, clenched her fists, stood up, and watched Song Tangxue's departing figure with an uncertain expression before turning and walking outside.

Li Zong didn't stop her, watching with a smile as this person went to court death, someone who dared to try and get involved even though she hadn't completed her mission.

It's not that they're oblivious to their own mortality; it's that they're courting death.

Xinghua impatiently rounded a few bends. The man in front of her was tall and burly, dressed in all black, with even his face covered by a black veil, making it impossible to see his features clearly.

"My lord..." Xinghua covered her pounding heart, suppressing her joy as she respectfully called out. The man turned around, followed by several other people.

"My lord, I have completed the task you entrusted to me." Xinghua spoke carelessly, thinking simply that in such a short time, it was impossible for this person to run to the Dali Temple to seek the truth.

If he takes the money and runs away within this time, he will be the one who loses both money and people.

What bullshit about going to hell! They can just live a carefree and happy life like gods while making money!

"What about what you promised before?" Xinghua asked tentatively, her back bent deeply as she unconsciously licked her lips, her smile flattering.

The man sighed softly, a cold smile escaping his lips: "I will naturally fulfill my promise to you. If I succeed, I will reward you with gold and silver."

Xinghua was overjoyed and grinned, "I knew I hadn't followed the wrong master! So when do you think I'll receive this reward?"

"If you fail, you'll be wrapped in a straw mat and that'll be your fate." The man snorted coldly and turned away from her. "If you want a reward, then I'll give it to you now."

The men behind her stepped forward to carry out the order. Xinghua understood perfectly well that her little schemes were nothing but petty tricks in their eyes.

Xinghua looked around at the maze of roads, gritted her teeth, turned around, and ran off in one direction.

There were no footsteps following behind. Xinghua patted her chest in fear and hid in a small alley by weaving through the crowd.

I can't stay in Kyoto any longer, I have to run!

The men in black were all waiting for instructions: "Let the prey run around a bit, so the meat will be more chewy. Go."

A gust of wind blew by, carrying the stench of blood in the distance, along with a woman's scream, before all was silence.

The wind rustled through the treetops, and the men in black silently returned to the man's side.

"The birdsong is a bit annoying today, it's quite noisy."

The rope around her neck slowly tightened, and Xinghua struggled incessantly, but to no avail.

Not far away was the bustling South Market of Kyoto. Xinghua dragged her legs, wanting to run into the street to seek help, but amidst the myriad lights and clamor of the crowds, there was nowhere for her to hide.

As he lay dying, his memories of his life flashed by like a fleeting glimpse. As a child, he had been bought and sold several times by human traffickers before finally ending up in the Song family.
